  1. I am lucky enough to have worked in football for the last 10 years. My journey has taken me from Portsmouth FC where I started as an intern, working in every department before settling in the marketing department in a full-time role. During my four years at the club we experienced two relegations, two administrations and an FA Cup Final. The highlight of my time at the club was receiving the Family Club of the Year award in 2012. This achievement marked a stark change from the clubs failure to achieve the Football League’s family Excellence standard just a year earlier. Tasked with improving this area I set about changing the ethos of the club to put the fan at the heart and improve the match day experience. This resulted in an increase in season ticket holders for the 2012-13 season despite relegation to League One. The experience gained here stood me in good stead for my future career. At Cardiff, in the first year, my team increased matchday hospitality revenue by over 200% from the previous season as well as leading us to the 2013 Family Club of the year Award. One area that received particular praise has been our new Away Fan Strategy which was recently featured in the Independant: http://tinyurl.com/nuhym5u In addition to this I was awarded the Star of the Future Award at the 2013 Football Hospitality Awards. I then moved to Brighton & Hove Albion as Head of Marketing where I was responsible for our sales strategies for all club commercial channels including ticketing, commercial, retail and non-matchday events. In 2015, I received the Rising Star Award at the Stadium Business Awards in Barcelona and in 2016 I was part of the inaugural Sports Industry Next Gen programme with honours. With the latter I am on a leadership programme in partnership with Barclays. I am now currently Commercial Director at Bristol Rovers Football Club, responsible for all of the clubs revenue streams. So far, I've performed seemingly impossible tasks like getting fat people eating pies.
  2. They asked one guy to sample a red onion sausage roll and asked him what he thought. "It's very ... um ... oniony" he spluttered, sending crumbs all over the newly cleaned carpet whilst inventing a new nounjective.
  3. It suggests to me that their owner is a bank not Wael - he's just the bank's manager. The bank was persuaded to invest based upon the potential for a quick and handsome profit which never transpired. Now they're left working out their exit strategy. Your opening comment is so very true, Eddie "banks just want their interest and the loan repaid". How they achieve that will be keeping them awake during home matches.
  4. NURSE! Bill's on the computer again ...
  5. Secured with interest, though. They're not a charidee, mate.
  6. If only there was a suggestion box suggesting ways to get out of this sticky situation.
  7. Looks to me as though the patio chair may have been in the ownership of Bristol Rowers before being pirated to the tented village.

  9. 9,879 (1,291 away). 8588 home supporters. They need a bigger ground, you know.
  10. I don't think that anyone's suggested that DC shags dogs, Bert. Unless you know something that we don't?
  11. Well, she certainly knows when I am ...
  12. But that has a sloping roof, guttering and a drainpipe.
  13. We would need the opinion of one such as @RaspberryRed on its overall suitability but to me the line of sight to both left and right looks obstructed for a wheelchair user?
  14. I don't suppose that the cover could be canvas?
  15. One of the pictures in the article in the article was ... ... which shows rugby posts! Always first with the news!
  16. Come on, own up. Which one of you guys wrote that Post article? Was it you, @bert tann?
  17. As he revealed in his interview with the Post last month, Bristol Rovers' new commercial director Tom Gorringe made his first change at the club by putting a suggestion box in the club shop. It would appear as though Rovers have been inundated with suggestions and requests, and the club has wasted no time in getting to grips with many of them. There will even be a number of changes implemented in time for this weekend's clash with Blackpool. "We have had many positive suggestions, some of which we have already implemented, some of which are under discussion, and some which we would like to put in place but aren't practical at the moment," Gorringe told Rovers' web sitee The club have broken down the suggestions into categories - stadium general, parking, shop, food and drink, and entertainment.MORE It appears as though many more changes will be made over the coming months, but the club has already given a clear indication of what they are looking to change in the short term. Take a look below at the club's current plans. Stadium general The PA system has been updated and the club hopes for a noticeable difference in the sound quality in the south and south west stands Bike racks are in place The lack of defibrillator's in the stadium was a major concern and two new ones have been orderedMORE Accessible toilet for the north stand has been ordered The club are currently discussing the following suggestions More turnstiles to be opened on matchdays A lift for disabled fans in the East Stand A card system instead of season tickets books Incentives for supporters to cycle to matches The possibility of providing wet weather clothing to supporters not undercover when it rains The club are currently unable to implement the following ideas A roof for the east stand Improved clubhouse facilities Opening the ground any earlier on matchdays. Food and drink Balti pies and vegetable pasties will be back from Saturday Drinks will be pre-poured The club is working hard to ensure they don't run out of food Also under discussion are: gluten-free options, happy hour after each match and improving the pies There will be a pie tasting session on October 3 Parking The club is investigating the possibility of park and ride schemes The club is unable to increase the disabled parking spaces at present Shop A complaints book for returned goods will be implemented It's not possible in the short term to have a larger club shop Entertainment Captain Gas has been provided with a new kit The club is looking at providing more options for entertaining younger supporters on match days and making more of PA announcements such as when young players make their debut
