..and I hope they carry on producing it. I think one of the main reasons people disliked Surrey was they spunked their - legally allowed higher than any other club - wages on marque signings and denied good players coming through. Alec Stewart deserves a lot of credit for a change of tact - bringing in quality experienced players like Clarke and Stoneman then mixing them with top quality young uns. If they carry on doing so England will be the benifit
Surrey never prevented young players coming through. There are very few players who have left surrey and achieved more elsewhere.....jordan one of the few examples.
The whole surrey thing is people jumping on the bandwagon rather than fact.....with the exception of the strut....surrey have always had that.

Surrwy are the beat side by a mile filled with homegrown talent. Too good for Somerset and the rest.

This is the most ridiculous matchday thread I can remember. We're playing one of the better teams in the league, we've been on top for long spells of the game and people are acting like we've been destroyed and completely outplayed. Its a game we could easily have got something out of on another day, we've created plenty and its not quite run for us.
Obviously, there are things to be concerned about particularly at the back where we have been sloppy at times and Hunt in particular needs better concentration on his first touch and passing. But GK looks good (particularly for a free), Kelly had a great game, Pack looks fantastic and Wieman is quality.
Another loss.

Not there admittedly but don't know what to think. It's great we managed to get back into the game from 2-0 down but it sounds like we should never have been 2 down in the first place. I know it is early days and can't say I'm brimming with optimism but I suppose the jury is out...
I worry about our centre backs.

The youth system that you disregard to sign overpaid international players using the London wage weighting. Admittedly in last 12 months it seems to be less so perhaps learnt lessons.
..and yes for me all about Batty and also the Oval for being the only ground I've seen home fans attack away at cricket..
Do I really need to list the countless youth players who have worked their way through the system??? From the bicknells butchers ward to today....unfortunately you don't know what your talking about.

As a surrey fan we have a great chance of winning it this year. Depending on how we cope re:sangakarra off to CCL.
I get slightly annoyed when people moan about surrey and their riches....one of the reasons we are so successful is because of our youth system and set up.....it really is outstanding and we are always looking to push our youngsters through....looking at our side today, burns, sibley, Curran s Curran t virdi meaker etc.....and that's without dernbach roy and the recently retired ansari.

we are the Rey
Folkes
Sam Curran
Both will be world class trust me.

Terrible, awful run of form but you surely can't sack him. We're 17th in a league where we should probably be about 17th. When this form turns around we'll comfortably end up mid-table which will be a sound achievement.
People need to stay away from the panic button.
Why should we be 17th??? Look at Huddersfield and reading are they individually better than us???? No, they have managers who have got them exceptionally well drilled.
There is no excuse for being below the likes of Barnsley Ipswich etc....poor poor management by someone looking well out of their depth.
