Now fit and recovered from injuries, Roberts is proving just how good a player he is. A back 3 that includes Roberts and Dickie means we have players who can pass and are happy to bring the ball forward out of defence, plus score goals.

Agree that Tanner has improved this season defensively on the right but his first instinct is always to pass back as he approaches the halfway line. A more progressive right centre back with some more height might not go amiss.

And unfortunately for Vyner, I just don’t see him playing in a back 3. He is fine at this level defensively and we have seen flashes where he can bring the ball forward and go past players but his passing is poor. A give away to an opposition forward every game is not good.

Ive always thought vyner could play the defensive midfield type role.....

Quite a few crowds against the likes of Leicester, Sunderland, Coventry, Ipswich, QPR & Middlesbro' were 16-18k.

Not big crowd pullers and at the time not huge away support.

I remember being in a crowd of 12k against Middlesbro' on one occasion.

Don't forget crowds of 27-33k against the big boys, and even more on some occasions, dragged the average up to 22/23k before the relegation season.

Think a few turnstile "operators" did ok on matchdays mind nogs.....

I haven’t been to an away match for about 4 years now. For me, the important thing has always been the surrounding area having pubs etc. I always enjoyed trips to London grounds (especially Brentford). Newcastle was a brilliant away trip.

The worst grounds are ones that seem stuck in the middle of nowhere, like Reading.

The ground I was most disappointed with was Villa Park. I like the look of it, but the facilities in the top tier of the away end were abysmal. Plus I got soaked in a downpour of rain after parking the car and then got stuck in terrible traffic on the way home, which didn’t help.

Sat through that game soaking wet freeezing cold didnt get out of brum till bout 12 30 then speeding ticket at aztec west....

You and I both, Dave. But it looks like James and Williams will be gone, so it’ll be interesting to see what they have up their sleeve. I don’t see anything left-friend from Europe or further afield, sadly.

Letting james go will have the same issue as letting cisse go circ12....
