  1. That's the kind of thinking that gets you a job at the big 6! Go for it! Its not about us it's about all the clubs further down the pyramid whose entire seasons can get changed by a cup run. Though I'm sure SL was very happy with 2 sold out home games this year. And some of our best FA cup results have come in replays.
  2. Let's not forget here - The Premier League has less teams and therefore plays less league games than each division of the EFL - They are now sacking off their winter break to have an extended summer break which no doubt means more foreign cups/tournaments in pre season - Some teams are straight off at the end of the season for money spinning friendlies abroad. I read today that Spurs and Newcastle play each other in Australia 3 days after the season ends This is all about the money and power of the PL. I really wish there was some collective action that could be taken to make them realise how important the pyramid is. Refuse to take all loans from PL clubs, let them develop their own youngsters. Stick a 10m tax on every transfer to a PL team. And I absolutely think a boycott is in order from the EFL clubs. They can say it's in the rules that teams participate but what are they going to do if everyone does it?
  3. How about if it's all square at the end of 90 mins after the first game the PL club can choose to forfeit the replay and go out of the competition.
  4. What about the other 700 odd clubs who enter the FA cup? Why are they being dictated to by the Premier League, more than likely 6 clubs within the Premier League. It's a disgraceful decision. Should have let them **** off to their European Super League and left us to it.
  5. Surprised not to see Joe Williams mentioned this far. Seems to be free from his injury issues, played a significant number of games and looks a vastly improved player
  6. I'd take him for a million, that isn't going to happen. His set piece delivery is good, we might reap the benefits a bit more with Dickie/Atkinson in the side but from open play there's been nothing spectacular for me
  7. I left on 93 mins because I was bored out of my mind, didn't think we'd score in a month of Sundays (we wouldn't bar a bad penalty decision), didn't want to watch Huddersfields time wasting any longer, and I don't regret a thing. If it was a game of any significance/level of entertainment I would have stuck it out.
  8. Given it's my post that's been dug back out of page 8 or wherever it had dropped to, I'll give my thoughts. Would I have sacked him? Yes Am I pleased that he's turned it around and I've watched City beat Leicester Plymouth and Blackburn in the last 4 games? Obviously. Am I convinced that form was just a blip and Manning is now the right man to take us forward? Not at all. But we will see. I hope he is the right man because success for LM means success for Bristol City and ultimately that's what we all want right? As for digging the post out to 'gloat', well that's your prerogative. We saw the same type of thing every time Max cost us a goal when the Bentley brigade would come storming back to tell us how bad a decision it was to let him go and how Max was no good. Ultimately someone's going to be right or wrong in the end once you post an opinion on a football forum. Liams going to take us to the promised land or he isn't. Having been a City fan for nearly 40 years unfortunately I know where I'd put my money. PS there are some 'why the hell have we appointed Steve Cotterill' or 'Lee Johnsons taking us up' posts if you want to go back far enough to really rub some salt into some wounds.
  9. A couple of interesting points - Moving their family stand into the lower Lansdown and moving existing season ticket holders in the impacted blocks to other seats - More Bears decoration going into the 'clubhouse' - which I believe is the Lansdown concourse - with every season ticket holders name going on the wall - Price increases in all areas but price per game seems comparable It shows the clubs willing to move season ticket holders to make changes, interesting as part of the s82 debate. Not sure why the Bears season ticket holders all get their names plastered over our football stadium but it's long past feeling like a football ground anyway.
  10. But...but.... the flag Seriously though, spot on. The uproar over this compared to the above (apart from the weather)... at least we know where our line of tolerance is now as a country.
  11. It would be amazing if that was the case. A real opportunity for fans to voice their opinions, and dare I say it thank Pearson for the job he did here
  12. Let's hypothetically say that the board have seen enough, decided Manning isn't the man for us and want to make a change for next season. Let's also assume in this scenario that we aren't going down. When do they make the change? We've got some key players out of contract next season, and a new guy is going to want to cast an eye over the squad to see who he wants next season and where he thinks the gaps are. So at what point do we think it's going to happen? Would it be the summer with the all knowing recruitment team deciding James/Williams/King aren't getting new deals and the new guy has to accept that? Doesn't seem ideal to me but I've felt for a while there's meddling from above going into the squad.
  13. Good. It's only going to be loud expressions of dissatisfaction from the customer base (let's not forget we are customers) that might even make those in charge think for 5 seconds.
  14. I saw them at Butlins at some awful 90s revival weekend about 10 years ago
  15. No way this sells out
  16. I see the old Basso saying has been rolled out again now it's renewal time. I'll say it: I don't believe anymore
  17. I will miss my rewards portal though. I've enjoyed accumulating points and having nothing of note to 'buy' with them. Market leading.
  18. Reckon they put Tinnion on radio Bristol tonight to try and get people on board for next season before a price announcement tomorrow? That's backfired
  19. Quick question. Who do you think put us in this financial position? The fans? No it's the people running the club and their strategy. Ultimately they are also the people covering the losses but let's be clear they have run up those losses on behalf of the football club. Side point - excuse me if I don't feel any guilt about not giving the club another £350+ when there's a billionaire flying in from his tax haven every week to watch the games.
  20. Communicated to my group today that I'm unlikely to renew next season for the first time in 20 years. It just feels like a chore and an obligation, like going to work. I'm not enjoying it and it puts me in a bad mood if we play like we have been and lose. I don't mind us being beaten by better sides if we put up a fight but there's nothing. It's not front foot, high press, attacking football. It's not even the quick breaking, counter attacking football we did have. I pay for entertainment. It's not entertaining. Sticking with the work analogy, I'd love an exit interview
  21. The problem is he is completely dependent on player performance in those changes. He's luckily Sykes and Roberts have come on and been better than the players replaced. And i only say this because I don't remember a tactical in game change he's made bar QPR where we ending up with 6 forwards on and nobody creating.
  22. Would be good if we can come together on this one. SM does so much for fans and I think he's even stepped up a few times to help out some of our blue Bristolians across the river. The club should also be helping out here - maybe by giving him the testimonial he very much deserves. Come on SL I bet that's less than a weeks wages you were happy to pay for Jens Hegeler/Adelekan/Nicky Hunt
  23. The question only raises its head in the boardroom I suspect when they genuinely belief we are in a relegation battle. Now some of us can see the way things are going already, but I suspect as he's 'their man' they will be seeing things though a slightly more optimistic view. If they believe we are going to stay up then they will stick by him and carry on with the 'plan'. Which will be back him in the summer no doubt. I suspect the threshold will be something like 4 points from the bottom 3 at which point they have to make a call on if they still believe he is the man for the long term project, or if he is even the man to keep us up.
  24. My seat wasn't in an area where I could get rained on for an hour. That's the only positive I'm taking from today.
