  1. So you think it’s common sense not to try and sell the most expensive seats until all the cheaper seats are sold, really? I would have thought trying to maximise the income from seat sales would be common sense, so make all seats regardless of price available and then gauge the demand, the take up of the most expensive seats might just surprise them and you. If you don’t try you’ll never find out. Do you not think that someone might prefer a padded seat on the half way line as opposed to a seat up in the gods? I’m not slagging (nice word) the club off, merely putting my point of view on a forum. You might do well to follow the ‘attack the post not the poster’ unwritten rule. I prefer to make my point and leave it there, you seem to need to attack me rather than counter my post, and you are an admin aren’t you? Nice example to set.
  2. How would you or anyone else now what the demand might be if the seats aren’t normally for sale? Not everyone wants to sit behind the goal, up in the gods, or have their knees up near their ears. (South stand, upper Lansdown or Dolman, take your pick). As I said, ineptitude by the people who are responsible for ticket sales, and dare I say perhaps because you wouldn’t buy a more expensive seat for a perceived better view doesn’t mean someone else wouldn’t. Wasn’t the game advertised as sold out? Then suddenly their are seats available out of the blue. Organising a party in a brewery comes to mind.
  3. So throughout the season there are a large number of empty seats in the lower Lansdown that are regularly empty because the club has misjudged the demand for hospitality packages and have chosen to not put those seats on general sell to give POTD or potential ST supporters a choice of where to sit, why is that? There are also a large number of empty seats in the South stand on a regular basis that presumably have been bought as season tickets (probably child STs) and rarely used? Doesn’t all of this demonstrate the ineptitude of the people who are running the club off the pitch?
  4. Because if he’s already got the tickets they won’t be shown as available will they? I was just interested, sorry if it upset you. It was a straight forward question that only he could answer. I did look as you can see, just a shame that the club only offer the best seats when they can’t get people to stump up the extra for a sit down meal and expensive drinks. Sums up the club for me.
  5. Yes, three central blocks in the Lansdown normally reserved for hospitality, shame they don’t release these more often, prime seats.
  6. That affects just four games maximum, which while a pain is manageable, with the new Sky deal far more games home and away will be moved. Anyone who has a life away from football could find it difficult to attend far more home games next season when they are altered from 3.00pm Saturday.
  7. But the fixture list won’t be announced until after the last renewal date will it? If that’s the case anyone in the SS who hasn’t renewed won’t be able do so in the SS will they?
  8. Buse, Idehen, Clarke and Yeboah, quite a number of City or ex City players. I guess helping Bath get into the National league would be very useful for us in getting some serious game time for our younger players, think Bryan and possibly Reid played for Bath at that level before pushing on. Was that a synthetic pitch?
  9. The best contributors to any of the City related discussions are Chris and Gary Owers, the reason? They’ve both been there and done it so, far from fanciful nice to haves, they are realistic about our team without going overboard. As fans we have our opinions and views, the more outrageous of which tend to get the headlines, but it’s clear to me neither of those guys think Manning is going to take us forward. SL really has screwed up this time, he’s going to throw some cash at the club to try and resolve the problem, and we are tearing up the work put in by the previous coaching set up and starting again, until that fails etc, etc. Often people say ‘he’s taken us as far as he can’’, sound familiar? Well that’s the Lansdowns. I genuinely fear a relegation battle next season, and hope and pray I’m wrong.
  10. Originally scheduled for 2nd April at AG, presumably brought forward because of the cup tie.
  11. I look forward to not being able to see a single red seat unoccupied. I won’t be able to see the one next to me that is definitely going to be empty if I only look ahead.
  12. There are currently 21 seats available IN THE ENTIRE STADIUM according to the club ticket site. I haven’t checked hospitality.
  13. Get hold of five tickets for any part of the ground, have a couple of beers and just before KO wander into the South stand, look around and you will find any number of empty seats so you can all sit together. It’s a 1230 kick off, on sky and a bank holiday, there will be loads of empty seats.
  14. The whole topic of loyalty for this and head of the queue for that leaves my head in a spin. Personally I see all of it as a complete nonsense brought about by clubs to create a kind of hierarchy of support, and dare I say more income. What is wrong with Season ticket for home games, all league games plus chance to purchase for cup home games. 1/2 Season ticket for home games (glory hunter category), as above. Home membership (reduction on home game tickets) Away membership first chance to buy away tickets (not a guarantee of a ticket) No mates rates games as this detracts from both the season ticket and membership schemes A sell back scheme for ST holders who can’t make games. I genuinely see no reason to link home season tickets with away game tickets, they are two completely different animals in my opinion. I don’t know how often away tickets sell out to ST holders, but I guess for the popular games demand will always outweigh supply.
  15. Having made the decision to offer cheaper child tickets in an expanded upper Lansdown family section presumably the club know how many child STs were sold in the SS and how many weren’t used (or used sparingly) and therefore believe a significant number of seats will be freed up (not just the child seat(s) but the accompanying adult(s) as well). What seems odd to me is making the SS spare seats POTD will mean less people buy in the Lansdown more expensive seats.
  16. I agree that the guaranteed upfront income is attractive to most clubs, but not it would seem to ours, I would like to know if any other club in the Championship is refusing to sell available seats for STs as our club is proposing with the SS ban. If things stay as they are I won’t be renewing .
  17. Red Panda I used the term tourist as a way of saying the club would prefer to sell individual tickets as opposed to season tickets. I accept completely that fans who live a long way away have no need for a season ticket, it not being viable to get to many home games, and to a degree they are catered for with the membership scheme. Equally someone like myself having been fortunate to have an ST for many years cannot reduce my football expenditure by moving from a relatively expensive seat to a cheaper one in the SS simply because the club has made this decision. I want to go to as many home games as possible but at a reduced unit cost, the club is preventing me from doing that. They could for instance check the attendance record this season for anyone who wanted to relocate and make a more informed decision based on that, instead they have arbitrarily decided to impose a rule that we have never had before. For what it’s worth I don’t think the price hike for junior tickets in the SS will have the desired result, they are still very cheap relatively speaking. We shall see.
  18. No it isn’t, I can’t move from the Lansdown to the South Stand…period. Any STs not renewed in the SS will be sold as POTD, no opportunity for EXISTING ST holders to relocate their seats unless they already sit in the SS. Its supposed to be the HOME end, instead it’s going to be the tourist end with quite possibly away fans buying tickets at the expense of home supporters, another crazy decision by the leadership, but hey ho just another example of the Lansdowns disconnect.
  19. Ashton Gate….South stand? Or have I misunderstood the ST renewal information.
  20. Having just listened, I‘m tempted to listen all over again. An excellent programme, knowledgeable and even handed guests, well presented by the host, well done Radio Bristol. No attention seeking from anyone (bar one text), sensible, truthful comment, tempered with common sense but not holding back on topics many of us are concerned about. If only next weeks programme could have SL, JL and BT as guests who are asked about their actions that have in my opinion put our club in a perilous situation, and they answer with the same clarity and truthfulness displayed in this programme. Anyone seen any flying pigs.
  21. Spot on. Should be pinned to anything to do with Tinnion and the Academy. Did you work for the Academy at any point? Tinnion moved on some very capable people after Gary Probert left.
  22. SL has a record for giving managers (with one exception) both time and financial backing. However when his patience runs out he has acted swiftly to make a change. His problem this time is that we are talking about firing family, not a very palatable thing to do, and firing a club legend (who he has sacked before) with, dare I say, without having a recognised obvious replacement. Who could take over immediately to steady the ship? Recent appointments higher up have been about business acumen not football acumen. There isn’t anyone at the club who could step up with the possible exception of Scudamore who hovers around the periphery of the boardroom, possibly a temporary appointment as CEO? The current situation cannot be allowed to continue, unless SL is prepared to risk spiralling downward. I believe he will act at Easter, defeat by Leicester and the subsequent unrest from fans will I hope lead to change. If change doesn’t happen then I genuinely fear for our survival next season.
  23. Someone, anyone, give me a clue as to the way forward.
