The thing is I have no idea what the Lansdown Way is. Worse, I'm not sure he does either.

Is it funding scatter gun recruitment, doubling the wage bill and putting the club in a financial hole?

Is it developing academy players to sell on at the earliest opportunity or to keep them as the core of the team?

Is it appointing an experienced manager and CEO and letting them use their expertise or rookies who will do as they are told because he knows best?

I agree he wants to prove he's a football expert despite the evidence to the contrary. It's not unusual for people who have become rich because they are expert in one field to believe they can be the same in any other field they choose imo.

I don't see him changing sadly.

The problem is and has always been our owner always looks at other clubs and then wants to copy their blueprint. We’ve heard it all before and you can list the clubs , Swansea, Reading, Brighton, Brentford, now Luton (I’m sure I’ve missed numerous of others off). No doubt it Ipswich get promoted , they’ll say we need to do what Ipswich have  done - although to an extent we’re trying to copy the inexperienced head coach route.

I’d just wish they’d draw up a philosophy and stick it to, ignore outside noise and what other clubs are and aren’t doing. Because we try to copy and take snippets we end up in a mess. How many times does this happen? It’s a culture from the top and probably why we’ve never moved forward (on the pitch). We’ve needed experienced football people in the club , making decisions and allowed the opportunity to make those decisions rightly or wrongly.

What our owner doesn’t see is that sometimes a club gets momentum and becomes a force , like Luton, sometimes it’s because they hire the right people and to an extent get lucky with more correct decisions than wrong ones. We had to an extent the momentum under GJ , we weren’t a great team but it clicked , sometimes it’s as simple as that

Thanks - I’d suggest the bold thing to do, as I appreciate things may not have been finalised, is to allow a “cooling off” period for fans - I.e fans can renew now but once the TV stuff is more firmed up, they get a limited window to hand back and have a refund.

In practical terms very little fans would take that up, but it would be a very good thing to do PR wise.

Sorry but what is the ‘tv’ schedule that’s being mentioned ?

Proberly only a select few and vetted at that..

Hopefully not the same as on Saturday. The second caller who criticised the first caller for saying it wasn’t an entertaining game and then made the comment as he had gone to Ipswich midweek his view was more important than others !!

  4. @Silvio Dante, @W-S-M Seagull quotes from Tinnion when Manning was appointed. Whether right or wrong appointment , Tinnion was involved in the process. if Manning is sacked then the same people are highly likely to be involved in the process. Mentioned on pod that there is a list of coaches we’re interested in, whose put that list together - suspect it’s the same who made this appointment.

Once we had gone for ‘the head coach’ and not manager, you want really a young, up-and-coming, on-the-grass, develop the players, develop the style; so once we had narrowed it down to what we wanted, he was one that came out straight away, really high,” Tinnion added.

“We’d known he had really good success coming into the club with MK Dons in his first season, we knew he had lost a lot of his good players he developed in that season to bigger clubs, and then we knew he had a problem after that.

“But once we spoke to him, it was really interesting to find out what had happened in that time. He had lost the good players that he had developed, and then the players were brought in for him and he was a little bit detached from the recruitment process. So then, when he lost his job, because the players weren’t as good as the one he lost, he really focused on that part of the problem that had happened.

“So when he went to Oxford, obviously he kept them up, and there were 17 players he lost in the summer and they recruited 11 players in and he was very much involved in that process. So he learned from the mistakes at MK Dons. And the good thing for us is he’ll be very much involved here.”

Good pod today to take part in. Almost went into 2 hours ( probably too long, apologies to @Curr Avon's wife...😂.

Thomas and I were on our way back from the Sheffield game, so couldn't be on the previous week. I'd heard from @headhunter that it got a bit heated and David doubled down with the F bomb today 🤣.

I hope we came across as passionate, but measured and with the ability to make comments based on factually correct statistics.

Thomas is still in rehab after his ankle operation in late November, but from being in an Academy himself is able to not only relate to the coaching methods on show, but also potentially the lack of man management taking place.

As I said on the Pod, the Swansea game is a crossroads for me. If we can get a performance and 3 points it'll be massive. Lose the next 2 and then WBA away and Leicester at home; whilst probably being 3 points or less off 22nd. Tough times and I haven't seen anything from Manning yet that he is up for the fight.

The time for banal phrases and words is over. We need to see action on the pitch. Over to you Manning and Hogg.

The pod today was really interesting and quite although a little heated showed passionate views whether agree or disagree with them.

Would suggest listening to Jesse Marsch who was on MNF a few weeks back. He spoke of how his philosophy was different to Bielsa’s and how he had to gradually implement his ideas and not change everything with immediate effect. Really insightful and he explained he had players who couldn’t play the way he wanted do had to adjust his approach

This is the championship and anything can happen. There’s no point in guessing results. So many times on here over the years posts of “i don’t know where the next win is coming from” have been followed up by a win.

And I agree with that comment , but for me looking at our players arguing with each other , reaction at full time yesterday and last week in Sheffield - do we have the fight ?

My point is we have a situation now where people are saying we are in a relegation battle when we aren’t in order use it against a manager they don’t like. If we then employed another manager and we didn’t go down, it stands to reason they would say that the manager saved us from relegation. Except if that was ANOTHER manager they didn’t like who did it!

By all means criticise Manning but faux relegation battles are ridiculous

My comment isn’t directed at Manning , we’re in the shit by the doing of those at the top of this club. Should we even be discussing the prospect of relegation absolutely not. Clearly you believe we won’t get drawn into a battle of survival , so simple question where do we pick up the points required?

We won't need 53 or 54 points for safety.

Current looks like 22nd could get 49, maybe 50. Which means at the very least we need to equal that and have decent GD.

So two wins, or 6 draws, or one win and three draws does it. That set of results won't see the GD drop to what 22nd will have.

I'm very confident that we will be fine.

Hope you’re right but do agree on GD

Serious question pete do you not think we are already in it

Unfortunately we are , the only positive is we need probably 9 / 10 points to be ok. Home games against Huddersfield, Rotherham , Blackburn and Swansea should suggest not a concern, question is do you expect us to beat those teams? We need to pick up a result in next two games before we play West Brom & Leicester to at least give us confidence

So unless I’m misreading it the club basically lied with its initial communications to place the blame on the police rather than not bothering to tell anyone until less than 3 weeks before the game

Can we therefore assume waiting for tv games are announced was an attempt to shift the blame onto sky?

So what would have happened if sky had picked it for a Friday evening kick off? Would that then have been the trigger to announce kick off change time ?

    Let’s do some simple maths.

Leeds have not sold away season tickets for the last 3 years, fully sold out, you can’t get an away season ticket without a home season ticket.

There is a 20,000 waiting list for a home season ticket, away ticket sales usually go in the order of

There are 3,000 away season tickets. Any allocation over 3,000 then goes in a ballot to home season ticket holders (that don’t have an away ST, or members)

I’m down to about 2,000 on the Home Season ticket waiting list and also a member, the ONLY chance I have of sitting in an away end is places like Blackburn where they usually give us 7,000 allocation, other than those allocations you will always find Leeds fans amongst the home fans generally causing no trouble at all.

By the way, being a member at Leeds doesn’t even guarantee me a home ticket, there’s 30,000 members fighting it out over 10,000 tickets. So to even get a home ticket is pot luck.

I hope this goes some way to alleviating your question about my effing loyalty, you try watching the club you love whilst not celebrating goals and politely applauding when the opposition score!

You’ve read the situation completely wrong, anyway have a good night 👍

Ignore @Wanderingred , you’re a good poster and frequently post sensibly and in my opinion opposition fans like yourself add to the forum content.

Living in West Yorkshire , unfortunately know a fair few Leeds fans, but on a serious note your comments about how hard it is to get your hands on away tickets (even in some instances home tickets ) is absolutely right. Enjoy the game but hopefully not the result

Me and the boy unable to attend tonight. He is currently in hospital after a big operation. He did make me laugh though, when he came round he was chatting nonsense as expected, and he blurted out the gas lost dad.

    Come on City

Know how tough it is to be in hospital after an operation with a youngester. Hopefully he recovers well , city win tonight and you can both be there for the fifth round.

I'm sorry I have been a long term fan of the podcast, but I have disagreed with a lot of the stances over the last week. Ok be positive but at least be consistent.

Most of the guests on the pod were negative about NP from the moment he took over and now you're telling people not to overreact and support the new head coach.

Wait till after the Boro game and if we lose the wisdom on that podcast will be saying wrong to sack Pearson , too inexperienced blah blah . The comment that should see an improvement in the next game is like Jesus turning water into wine

Apologies if I misunderstood that job description that the club said it was. Which was essentially to carry on how we have been playing, but better.

Manning never fitted that style. That was obvious from the first link with him.

Personally disagree , how I see it is the club hierarchy see this squad as underachieving under Pearson and were effectively looking for a modern , on the grass coach. They were looking fir someone who could gain an extra percentage from the players with a little more quality. Not saying I agree with them or that manning is the right person but in terms of what they’ve stated he ticks a lot of boxes

I think this is where people get confused.

Undoubtedly we are all behind Manning and the team.

However I doubt there are many people that are behind the powers that be at the club.

What I saw yesterday isn't Mannings fault. It's the fault of the owners who have brought in a Head Coach that didn't fit the job description.

He does fit the job description, whether the job description is right is completely different

Ian Gay said on FBC that his “impeccable source” says the appointment is “someone the fans will get really excited about”.

That surely rules out Manning, and most of the bookies list?

I found it a really odd comment , the club are hardly going to say; we tried everyone else but we’ve gone for the least inspirational candidate we could think of. Even Holden was talked up

Bit I don’t understand is. If what Manning says last night no contact, then last night we would have had to negotiate a buy out figure for him, him to then agree to sign for us all before last nights rumours that an announcement was tomorrow.
    Timing don’t seem right.
I know he may have been lying, but someone would have leaked it by now.

Agree, if it’s him would have been noise Oxford end of him talking to us or we’ve agreed a compensation figure with them. There is absolute radio silence which suggests whoever it is , is currently not in a role , whether they be English or foreign

Will be formally appointed in next 24-48 hours.

Backed him and Williams from the start as felt type of appointment we would go for, but personally can’t see it. No leak from either our side or oxfords - hope I’m wrong as if correct a tidy few quid but can’t see it

Jesse Marsch ticks most of these boxes.

    But not the translator part

earlier post: Additionally, someone mentioned earlier that we might need a translator for our new HC, which wouldn’t be the case here as his English is excellent.

My view (for what it's worth), is that it's a bit of a last throw of the dice by the Lansdowns to win back some of the fanbase.

Potentially tricky player management on the horizon, if Lampard (if indeed he is confirmed) trys to bring in PL loans on decent wages in Jan.

A large number of the players have signed new contracts probably based on the premise of the club's austerity.

If that goes out the window, then some difficult conversations potentially might need to be had.

Thinks it’s a last throw of the dice full stop. If true , Lampard will increase the clubs profile. However, Lampard has to succeed at his next appointment , can only see a difference in approach to what Tinnion and Lansdown jnr have spoken about, guess we may see the nest egg crack open
