Disappointing from England tonight. Very flat and lacklustre, and no intensity. I wanted Southgate to make changes earlier to get a grip on the game. But we are still in control of our group and on course to progress to the knockout stage, so in terms of the tournament so far so good.

My dad listened toit on the radio, but he switched it off in anger when they went 4-2 up. He didn’t know the result until I got home from the game later that evening and phoned him.

What a day that was, right up there with my favourite memories of watching City. There was a fiesty atmosphere both inside and outside the ground, not helped by the aggressive attitude of the police. At 4-2 we looked down and out with their fans goading us. Minutes later and there was absolute pandemonium when the winner went in. Can’t believe it was 20 years ago. Where does the time go?
