  1. That is fair. I think it was always the Lansdowns intentions to let Nige see out his contract and thats it. His job was keep us in the division with a tight budget. Get us better physically and defensively. He did that. Maybe did it so well they thought we can have a go this season. It be nice to tell us that if the case but not realistic. We’ll never know if NP could have done more. I don’t believe he sets up in a modern way that has been successful over the years. With the comments from the club about high intensity and all that they didn’t think so either. No doubts whoever comes in will get funds in January. Harsh on NP to build it and not get backing? Yes but again I feel like that was always going to be the case.
  2. Seen enough teams to think ain’t much in it. Tactical set ups matter and we were lacking. We’ll just keep signing other teams best players but say we aren’t great. We aren’t Leeds Southampton or Leicester. After that we are about the same as everyone else bar the bottom 3-4 sides. That is the championship.
  3. Poster doesn’t hate the Pearson sacking and thinks a team 4 points off playoffs has better ability than Pearson got out of them means he is going for reactions. Not my problem half of you in love with Pearson and feel the need to come to his aide when someone says he was overrated
  4. Spot on. We don’t have anyone who can beat a fullback. Semenyo and Scott to a degree could. Mehmeti has tricks but not the physical gifts for this level to consistently take players on. Looks more comfortable roaming and finding pockets of space from a central role. Sykes is our best creative player imo. That just isn’t enough though. I look at bits of business like Whittaker to Plymouth or Philogene to Hull and think what if.
  5. They were bad weren’t they. First half was the same old. I thought the changes were good. Naismith pushing into midfield allowing a midfielder to push forward. Mehmeti popping up everywhere and looking confident. Not sure NP takes a CB off. Not sure he brings Mehmeti on. And just generally thought our creative players looked a bit more relaxed. It wasn’t pretty or necessarily good but I thought it was something. What would Bell then do? It wasn’t perfect but I felt the players enjoyed it today.
  6. Good debate. Not sure you get forums. Let’s hear your opinion. Go on
  7. My point is it can produce better football than we have seen. Flashes today against a bad side. It was refreshing to see players have the confidence to overlap, create overloads and take people on. Didn’t constantly pump balls down the channel hoping for long throws. Wtf you on about? We might turn into something worth watching. About as loud as AG has been at times today. Partly because manager shake up. Partly because we actually tried to play some football
  8. Devoid of confidence that squad. They looked freer albeit up against 10 men. Mehmeti looked confident. Conway looked better. Now they can maybe move on without a negative style of football Got you to comment. Not here for a rise just good debate
  9. I am the Michael Scott to your David Brent. We all know who is clear here.
  10. Saw today we have some quality if used correctly. This isn’t the lower half of the table side NP made it look. So excited for the future
  11. Except that he was keeping Mehmeti from minutes and keeping the dire Weimann on often. Benching Bell was a bit of genius too and having him as the impact player off the bench. Well done Curtis
  12. Why because I didn’t like awful football and finishing 16th? Sorry no one grown enough for differing opinions around here. Sheep spring to mind
  13. Pearson gone singing was embarrassing. Then slagging off the man who pays the bills son because he didn’t accept mid table mediocrity. We don’t deserve better with attitudes like that. For the game. No red would have meant no points. Scraped by bottom of the league with one win after they played with 10 for an hour. Awful football again but fair play to Fleming making attacking changes that I am sure his predecessor would not have made. Well done Curtis Flemings cider army
  14. Fair enough and I agree the timing wasn’t right. Just now that it is done I am looking forward to whats next. I thought he was building an identity middle of last season with Naismith in midfield and the 433/4312. He never went back to it though. Partly because injury but seemed reluctant too. I have said I’d have let him see out the season(or much of it). Just seems that wasn’t possible and the relationship between him and higher up was disintegrating so it was inevitable. I said in another thread, this is perhaps/probably what the Lansdowns hired him for. Get us through a tough period where we need to reset, with never the intention of keeping him longer than the 3 years. In that case, he did a very good job. Very risky going forward I agree. NP for me was a sure thing. Will be safe but probably not threaten the playoffs. Now, we could bring someone in who can get this club to a top 6 finish. However, it could go real wrong and end up in a relegation if those bottom clubs get it together some

Yes but how you posted is not how my opinion often gets a response. We disagree. I am fine with that. I do think it is probably closer to 50/50 than this forum represents. You hear lots of different things on the coaches to away games, walking through the ground home or away and in the pubs. I been around here a long time, I don’t mind arguments not fair on genuine new people though with some posters borderline having a go at bullying just because they don’t think Pearson was amazing. Think we all want whats best for city in the end.
  16. It is all fair. I know I go OTT sometimes. My thoughts are that the reputation that Rennie come in with, the reality didn’t match that expectation to me. Same with NP really. I thought we had turned a corner middle of last season when we went 433, then moved Kal into midfield. Lasted a bit and then injury took Kal away then took RA away. We never got back to that and for me been downhill since then. Even when winning it never felt we were a strong side. Better drilled than before? Yes. Bit fitter for the most part? Yes. But never dominate games which I think is the next step. Doesn’t mean any thing in terms of style. Could be a dominant possession side who patiently creates opening. Could be a high pressing side that forces opponents into mistakes. Could be a team that sits back and defends deep and counters well. I think we want an identity but it never happened under NP. We don’t have the footballers for possession. We don’t have the pace for countering quickly(like Birmingham done to us at AG under Eustace. Haven’t played the right midfield, imo, to be a high press side. The latter is where I think we could get to. With more Naismith, Knight, Hickman, Williams and maybe a 10 like Mehmeti(thought played well at Cardiff). Conway, Bell, Sykes and Cornick good from the front. Dickie a bit slow but Vyner covers well. All that just wouldn’t happen under NP. So the change is welcome for me and we’ll see what happens. I’ll admit there is a decent risk of it going properly wrong with all that said. Worth the risk for me though.

The way I see it and I am guessing the Lansdowns did, that needed someone like NP to reset the club. He did that job and kept us up for a few years and a hell of a mess. That was what he was hired for. Not hired to then take the club forward in his vision(which seems far from the Lansdowns). Why can’t we say he did the job he was asked to do well? And that the job is now ready for someone younger, more hands on and different tactically than NP? Seems reasonable to me. I saw nothing in NP reign that he could get us promoted so why not change now when everything from 3rd-21st is so fluid? Let someone new assess over the last international break and get some backing in January. We know what we had from Pearson. A practical style for avoiding relegation. This next appointment could send us down but it could also take us forward. I think it is okay to have that view point. Unfortunately you get met with vitriol on here with any opinion that isn’t pro NP. And this bit not aimed at you Mr P just added on.
  18. The convenient contact injuries now but forget the last 2 years before it. Benarous - freak thing. Did we push too early? Did we not strengthen it before we got him training again? Weimann - weird heel thing. Back too early missed more time. Missed time last year muscular Conway - missed large chunks of the last two seasons with muscle injuries. Naismith - muscular last year after moving to midfield and again this year. Williams - we ran into ground and now out again. Done a job with him but not exactly reliable. Couldn’t get Kane Wilson fit. Kalas and James last season muscular. He didn’t really live up to the expectation did he? See above. The problem has been ongoing without contact ones like Vyner. No Pearson didn’t get the ideal window. Never hear me say he did but it wasn’t an awful one either. We would have been up in the 7-8 range with more signings and then we could say how they needed more time to gel. Always seemed another excuse for NP. Never really been a fan, think most know that. My opinions haven’t really changed and I don’t think I am unfair in what I say. Not overly anyway
  19. I don’t see why Rennie is being protected on here either? Some tough injuries for sure but always the same people out. Isn’t he supposed to set it plans to manage their workload? Does it matter if you pull a muscle in a game or training? No not really. Luck or no luck is the same people out with similar injuries. Not rocket science here. City want a small squad so need a good medical staff to keep it fit. 3 seasons now we always go we are unlucky with injuries. Rennie’s fault or not is a results business and like his mate Nige he didn’t produce enough when needed.
  20. But that is exactly what it is in the comment that I responded to. But the forum rather it be a conspiracy the sacking of a manager probably a rife time to join a forum isn’t it?
  21. weird comment. Imagine Bristol Sport employees being a fan of City not that he is. Does know his way around a roof though. He’d fit in at City’s media team. The weird NP cultists at it again I see. You lot would have Pearson own the club. Remember in simpler times you could have an opinion on here and debate it. Not have to fit in on one side of debate.
  22. Like it except for Weimann down the middle. I’d be benching Bell too for Mehmeti. Bell just ain’t doing it for me. Not on the left anyway. Think he is a right winger. He don’t look to cut in and shoot enough for me. Likes to go left and hit dink left footed crosses. Just do that on strong foot on right
  23. I got the wrong dates as am at work. He didn’t spend the money. My point was he inherited a top championship squad off a big spend. He did take it to the next level so fair enough. He just wasn’t one to come in and work on a small budget like he has to here. Not convinced he would have got it done here and that is why we played, imo, percentage football. Asking smaller forwards to bump CBs in the air to win throw ins in their half and channel balls not to get on the end of but to pressure opposition to put it out of play for long throws and corners which are probably accounting for close to half our goals this season. He wasn’t for me and done nothing to convince me otherwise. His biggest pros were slashing the wage bill and playing youth which would have had to be done by Pep, NP or Gary Johnson. The culture and fitness were minimal impacts imo. He leaves the squad with multiple injuries hanging over the club. Culturally never gonna change with SL. So what has he actually brought to BCFC in his time? Again younger and cheaper squad was the remit for anyone. If you want to say he was doing everything possible to keep this club afloat, I can buy into it a bit. I fear relegation with the next appointment because this is not a top 6 side. I just think NP ceiling was lower top half of table to midtable(10-15th). With change comes a strong possibility of failure but also a small chance of something great which is the way I am choosing to look at it. I want to go to AG and get off my seat for a good press and some nice football.
  24. So the core of their successful side was bought by Sven? Cheers mate the point I made. He also used the loan market which he hates too. And to get rid of 22 players, isn’t that something that probably needed done? I mean forget the fact he got rid of 8 players net over 3-4 seasons. Isn’t that much really is it? You lot want to talk about NP like he is Pep. He was a fine manager there and he was fine here. He had success off a massive backing. If you want to say his culture helped Leicester I probably can’t argue. Their fans revere him, based off that success. However, I think he probably gets too much credit for the title winning team. He had proven what he could do with that side which is about scrape staying up. Ranieri come in brought in players(off memory) like Cambiasso and Kante. And no need to raise your blood pressure mate. All be fine tomorrow
  25. So the bulk of his successful side was in place for him like Ranieri’s was for him? Thank you
