  1. I've always been in the pro-Johnson camp but its blatantly obvious he's been getting things wrong recently. We've setup tactically just to wait for mistakes, no proactive plan with the ball and it's really not working. We might not be as good as Leeds or West Brom but we shouldn't be as bad as these recent performances with the players we have.
  2. I was actually at the Colchester v Plymouth game on the weekend (inlaws are Plymouth fans). Bakinson started well and is obviously technically a cut above that league but once Plymouth went a couple of goals down he drifted out of the game and looked much less confident. Didn't help Plymouth kept lumping the ball up to Ryan Taylor (remember him?) all second half. Definitely a player in there though. Incidentally, very good Green Army following for a long old away day
  3. I think there'll be a curveball with maybe Eliasson out/in a different position to get Benkovic in the team and back to 3-5-2. Maybe something like; Bentley Benkovic - Williams- Baker Hunt/Pereira - Nagy/Massengo - Smith - Dasilva/Eliasson Palmer/Eliasson/Paterson Diedhiou - Wells Weimann has been so out of form recently and Diedhiou much better, you'd think it'd have to be Weimann out for Wells... Probably too early for Henriksen to come in.
  4. Was tempted to skip this one after seeing Tinners was cruelly dropped after a stellar debut (#shtanleytombola) but thoroughly enjoyed it. Agreed with a lot of what was said about LJ, the fact he often comes across as a bit of a tit makes people more keen to jump on him after a few bad results.
  5. This nails it for me. I've always been more pro than anti Johnson as he has delivered steady progress and the foundations for a push for the Prem look to be there. However, what he now considers as our 'identity'/'DNA'/'insert corporate metaphor' really isn't very clear and for most of this season we haven't looked to have been playing with any particular sort of plan. Initially I thought the fact we were playing badly and winning was a massive positive but obviously things have gone south since then and I think this lack of clear idea of how we want to play has a part in that. In the immediate term I can't see Johnson getting the boot but if things carry on as they have been and we start dropping in to the bottom half then I don't think SL will be slow in getting rid. A shame from my perspective as a few times it's looked like Johnson is the man to keep pushing us forward but it could well be that he doesn't see out the season. If LJ does go though, I can't see any obvious replacements. I know a few people on here like Warnock and Hughton but I can't say I'm convinced either are the answer. Someone from abroad maybe?
  6. I can meet at the ground and happy to take. Just let me know
  7. Hi All - same here, will take just the one if going though. Cheers!
  8. Looked very good last night, good touch and awareness, as well as not being shy putting himself about. He did let a few runners go defensively (as did all of our midfield last night...) and cramped up towards the end so not sure if he's physically ready for two games in four days but definitely an exciting one to watch!
  9. Stats obviously only show so much but it's quite telling that Pack and Brownhill barely feature here. From my perspective we're (mostly..) set up and have the players to play a pressing game, moving the ball quickly when we have it, but for some reason if we have Diedhiou in the team we end up lumping it and nobody knows what to do. Players not doing what they're told/making wrong decisions or wrong instructions from LJ?
  10. Have to agree. He's not the best player in the division but far from the worst. Tonight's game really highlighted how little support he gets in the way we play at the moment, more to come with the right/improved players around him
  11. I've only seen the highlights of the Villa game and he did make some brilliant saves, but some of those he only had to make because he didn't deal with the initial effort quite well enough (ie. Pushed it out to the middle of the 6 yard box). That said, the full games I have seen him in I have been impressed. He's obviously a good shot stopper, decent with the ball at his feet and looks to have the right temperament for a keeper. Decision making can be a little hit and miss and his handling could be better but there's a lot there to work with. My view is a L1 loan next year would really see him kick on.
  12. Agree with this post entirely. In my opinion it's this lack of willingness for English players to play abroad and learn how to play different styles of football that has held up back for years. However, with so much more money on offer for young players over here you can definitely understand why they stay and sit on the bench.
  13. Need one ticket if going spare? Can meet at the ground/anywhere on the way. Cheers!
  14. This pretty much sums up my sentiments. In most games he'll do something to impress and look destined for bigger things but he'll also be caught out of position a lot and tends to let too many crosses come in from his side. Good player but can be replaced and probably needs a move to kick on as a player
  15. On paper it looks like the first 11 is slightly weaker but the overall squad much stronger. Hopefully this will help avoid the traditional 2nd half of the season collapse! Looking forward to seeing Eisa properly and Eliasson kick on from last year.
