  1. If Manning is going to be given the summer they have to back him and pay for Twine. We need 2 or 3 quality players this summer to play the way he wants. Twine plus a striker plus an upgrade on Mehmeti (someone who can beat a player but consistently make the correct final ball). None of these will be cheap. There is financial headroom particularly if Conway is sold. The team is under-invested for various reasons over the last 3 years and needs an injection of quality to play this way successfully. We can see the quality that Twine gives us and we won't get away with trying to do it on the cheap. We will try and do it cheaply though. He is their man. They need to back him financially. My hunch is that they won't.

So the HPC and Ashton gate pitches are Desso Hybrid pitches, the synthetic fibres are plugged into the soil which helps promote root growth and strengthen the root beds. They’re prepared in the same way a full grass pitch is and is used in most of the major pitches in the world. AG, St James Park, Nou Camp, Old Trafford, San Siro, PSG, Twickenham and Wembley to name a few. Every year the organic grass is removed and relayed but the fibres will last 6-8 years.

    Not at Membley then?😉

It’s pretty simple for me. The owners act as if they are more important than the club. That situation cannot continue. JL has no experience and no viable plan to get the club into the PL and needs to step down or be removed.

Having the occasional good cup run is not good enough. The club needs to unite behind a plan to gain promotion and unfortunately the sacking of NP has made that impossible. Now the board must fall on their swords for the greater good of the club.

Board? We don't have a Board in any normal recognised form. That's half the problem. Just an echo chamber. Really poor corporate governance

They will be desperate for Manning to succeed. I think they will find a way to finance this deal If Manning believes hes the player that will make the difference. The only thing that will get in the way is Burnley’s relegation

I think that is true. However we will need 3 or 4 players of this level to be consistent over a whole season

Trait wise he reminded me of more advanced playing Charlie Adam in a lot of ways - bloody good set piece, lots of desire, good brain. But a Charlie Adam whose limit is the Championship; not Liverpool.

For a sensible price he’d be a very good addition. But I don’t think there’s any chance we’d get him for what I think would be a sensible price.

I think it’s a clever loan move though. I think the way Manning wants us to play requires a player like him. Manning and Twine can start working with and training our forward players to adapt to the movement and running patterns that will be required of them, and then in the summer go and find a similar player at a more reasonable fee.

I agree with this. The problem as I see it and has been mentioned is that to play this system well you need very good players. Look at the difference for example between Russell Martin at Swansea and at Southampton. Same style and processes. Different outcomes. I would argue that the difference is the quality of players in the two sides.

To be successful at this level with the style the board want will require us to have more players of the level of Scott Twine. By their nature they will cost, both in fee and wages. Can you really see this regime going out and spending that on 4 or 5 players of that level?

We need a Scott Twine 'type' player. Ww currently have the ultimate Scott Twine 'type' player in the man himself. However we are unwilling/unable to afford him. I don't know how we square that circle other than adopting a more pragmatic style. However that is not why LM was employed. The club knew what his style was and have backed it. Let's see if they are really serious or not

  6. I think he has been a great servant but no longer an automatic pick. If it allows us to free up his wages (still probably one of the higher earners) then probably a good time to allow him to move. Assuming we are not planning on offering him a new deal in the summer. May also allow us to offset some of the potential fee fir TGH. Would leave with best wishes from myself.

80-82 worse.. but we survived… just.. thanks to some of the most admirable and unselfish players ever…

    wont happen this time

And we had Terry Cooper to help rebuild. Last manager we had that made a bigger contribution than NP

  9. Thank you Nigel. Particularly if you are reading this. Against all odds had turned the club around. You were setting the standards across the board.  You have been the only face of the club over the last couple of months. Be in no doubt how we'll you were appreciated by the fans. Best manager at City since Terry Cooper for me.  Hope you are able to say what you really think at some point.

Get the **** out Lansdown, you spud faced gauleiter.

I think the official term courtesy of our 'friends' North of the river is 'Rosy cheeked lady garden' although I agree with the sentiment expressed

  11. The Lansdowns should be ashamed. Scandalous and cowardly decision. What alternative reality are they living in? They deserve all the opprobrium they are going to get. They should not be welcome at City games going forwards. Didn't think that they would actually do it.

I'm not sure that they could employ anyone worse then Barton but employing Nathan Jones would be a bloody close run thing. Can't think of anyone else more suited to that odious shower.

  13. I have always been and continue to be a strong supporter of NP. In answer to the OP original question I believe it is because that along with the fact that most of the fan base can see and understand what he has done on the playing side with the hand he has been dealt there is also something else at play.

Namely with the club seemingly drifting from the top levels (I won't say board level as there isn't one worth the name) Nigel is the only face and leader at the club. Silence from all other quarters is deafening. Those of us that remember the days of Terry Cooper may recognise this. For very different reasons they both are/were the figureheads of the club and therefore the most important person in the club at that time.  Nigel is the Terry Cooper of modern times in my opinion. The hierarchy need to recognise this. Will they? I doubt it. Will we look back (any of us that are still here) in 40 years and see how important NP has been? Almost certainly I reckon.
