  1. As a generalisation, Rick, every kind of competitive game that a child plays puts them in the shop window for (especially) local football club scouts who are looking for recruits to their Academies. I may be wrong but i believe that children can, and do, play in the JPL on a Saturday and then their Club team on a Sunday.
  2. Perhaps it's now our time under Manning??
  3. Did you hear that a psychic dwarf has recently escaped from Pentonville and has yet to be re-captured? It seems there's still a small medium at large......
  4. A group of guys, all aged 40, discussed where they should meet for a reunion lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons Pub in Uxbridge because the waitresses had big tits and wore mini-skirts. Ten years later, at age 50, the friends once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons Pub in Uxbridge because the food and service was good and the beer selection was excellent. Ten years later, at age 60, the friends again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons Pub in Uxbridge because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in peace and quiet, and it was good value for money. Ten years later, at age 70, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons Pub in Uxbridge because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a toilet for the disabled. Ten years later, at age 80, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons Pub in Uxbridge because they'd never been there before.
  5. Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators; we haven't met yet.
  6. Or even Roll Over, Lay Down in those final games.....
  7. I named my first dog 'Engineer' because every time i kicked him in the balls, he made a bolt for the door..... (Apologies to all animal lovers - i didn't really - i named him 'Harley' because i wanted a motorbike and the wife wanted a dog - we compromised - i got to name the dog!)
  8. Has Bird tweeted anything about his injury?
  9. These ( premium weight organic tee-shirts) are the best quality and best vfm tee-shirts that i've ever bought; https://www.plainandsimple.com/collections/men and note the price.......
  10. FGR were up against a side containing some big guys in central defence but FGR then strangely chose to spend most of the game hoofing hopeful, long, high balls up the middle (well, anywhere actually) to their forwards who lost out time and time again. Not much skill evident in either side but, what little there was, Sutton had more of it. And, as you said, FGR did look very tired in the second half. I liked the look of Ryan Inniss for FGR - a big, strong, commanding defender who lost very few battles and who did seem to read the game well. I also loved watching Cotts in action again. Talk about the 12th man stood on the touchline sounding off for the full 90 minutes.! He's done really well with a poor team but, come the end of the season, i think he'll have failed to keep them up. Cotts is a very good manager but i don't think even he can make a silk purse out of this sow's ear... Hopefully, he'll stay on and sort it out and FGR can come again......
  11. True but at least they're in it for the long haul.........
  12. Would you feel the same if we were 3 or 4 points off the relegation spots with just 4 or 5 games left to play? Hopefully (and it is 'hope') it won't come to this but, should it go that way, i can think of few better to keep us up.
  13. Even if that was true (which it isn't), there are loads more people better qualified to run a football club than those currently running it and they have no qualms about remaining in high office - so get in there.....
  14. I think he went on to host Blue Peter........
  15. My spot was right behind the dug-outs, stood on an old orange (the fruit) crate while my Dad stood a few terrace-steps back with all his old cronies (well, in their thirties and forties they were all 'old' to me!). I remember the strong smell of tobacco in the air, probably originating mostly from the many pipe-smokers all around the place....
  16. You were spoilt at Chelsea 22A. Look what i got at my local club. A turd in a box for £6
  17. Fair enoughski. I only asked because in your first post you stated that; '(it's) about a sky fairy that i don't believe in and a rich guy. Definitely doesn't represent me'.
  18. Just out of sheer curiosity, what would represent you personally?
  19. Between you and me, he was always there at her parties, hanging around, waiting to pounce the moment Mrs M showed just a flash of a well-turned ankle.....
  20. And if we lose to Switzerland when we next play them, i'll be really cheesed off... (That was a pretty awful game last night though - reminiscent of the fare served up during my occasional foray to A.G. over the last few years)
