  1. They are really filling in the gaps with housing. The 4 fields around Yate FC are being sold off and 118+ houses going in(The fields with brown test trenches in them). On top of The Addlings to the right of the club, that are already up an potentially reaching up to The Cod. They are also clearing the land opposite the club entrance in Lodge Road hopefully for a new road junction.
  2. Moved out Yate (well the arse end of Nibley) 4 years ago. Went to The Lamb with a mate and met a few of the locals, was told Yate was the swingers capital of the south west!
  3. Another one here! South Stand. Mate just text to say he can’t make it.
  4. Thanks, I agree with you, no company(club) would completely open themselves to potential employees. But did wonder what sort of due diligence would be done by LM? Apologies, not expecting you to know! The football world seems quite small for the professionals in the game. I don't think he would have given NP a call and ask about the club, but a bit of a check on the city website would have uncovered NP's feelings about what was happening in the weeks before he was sacked, delving back a bit further would have shown his thoughts when he took over here and an hour on social media would have given the fans perception and feelings. Perhaps it's all down to individual egos? Your last part sums it up for me.
  5. I used to work with the Head of Football Operations at Rotherham. A really decent guy and good people manager. Everyone that knows him was surprised at the move, as he has spent nearly all his career in the justice and custodial sector! Still trying to work out how running a prison with over 1100 inmates equates to this new role. He is passionate about football, but is a Hull City supporter..........
  6. This is a good point, but worries me even more about what is going on behind the scenes! Is it likely the board hide a lot of the issues from potential new employees? I seem to remember NP with all his experience saying he didn't realise how bad things were here after his arrival.
  7. Will speak with a cousin tonight out there. He is praying the sodding huge driving range nets were going to get it!
  8. For the first time in a while, it seemed most of the South Stand joined in with "Nigel Pearson's Cider Army". NP even mentioned it post match.
  9. Not sure if there has been a change within Ashton Gate, but during the last match of the season, had a chat with one of the outlets on the concourse and he said that they might not be back this season as the new management team had been around to discuss things and he would 'basically, end up working for nothing' with the new fees? They are back this season, but I wonder if this is why other outlets have changed?
  10. If not these have them British Corner Shop | British Food | Online Supermarket for Expats
  11. I live near Yate and don’t want them around here. Like @bcfc01 I would become a nimby. Better fire the muck spreader up just in case.
  12. Been living near Yate for a couple of years, have only ever seen 3 with their colours on. All old boys. 1 in a rent boys bobble hat and 2 in shirts that have all sorts of food down the front...... @Silvio Dante sums it up about following the family connection. When I refer to them as old boys, I am turning 60 this year and they are older than me (or had a much bigger paper round). No youths anywhere. There are regularly dozens of city who go down the gate from the surrounding area.
  13. Daughter has her wedding booked for May 6th. She even moved the timings a bit so we could watch the match. If it’s moved to Friday/Sunday/Monday we can make it! Bonus. In fact if the bank holiday is moved as @Clevedon Redsuggested above and we play on the Monday, we can make the match and I can drop her at Heathrow for their honeymoon on my way home.
  14. Saw about the roads being closed earlier in the thread, nearly booked in Morrisons car park opposite, but we would have been stuck there for an hour! We are about a 1km walk away, hopefully meeting up with a couple of brum mates on the way.
  15. Did the same, but Asda at Bordesley Green. £3. Straightforward walk to the ground.
  16. Still go for something from 'Feed the Goat' makes a Saturday. £9.50 for a curry with rice and peas isn't bad. At one of the concerts back in the summer, sure it went up to £11? with £7 a pint for Red Stripe! Anyone know how much the rates are to rent an outlet at Ashton Gate?
  17. Work shifts changed for a couple of us on Saturday and we purchased 3 tickets for Birmingham at about 10pm. There were still 94 tickets left then.
  18. Thanks for the heads up/reminder. Will have a walk over tonight if I get out of work on time.
  19. With you here! Nan's curry with rice and peas, washed down with a pint of Red Stripe. Noticed last season at full time, there were shedloads of pies and pasties left over and being sold off for £1. With the choices around the ground, there doesn't seem to be a great demand for the pies on the concourse. Only tried them once, when there was a 'meal deal' on. Not rushing to have one again! Perhaps some customer feedback on what food and drink we want? I would love to see Thatchers Dry back on tap.?
  20. I was thinking, when I next forget someone’s birthday, or am just too lazy to get them a present, so they end up with a gift card. Cover the box with sticky back plastic, put the gift card in place and a little note, like we got from JL and give them that. At least it looks like I have made an effort…
  21. Ours arrived today. Just want to put out a thanks to @JerrySLOfor sorting things out after a change of address and swapping one of the cards over.
  22. Ended up going myself last night, even managed to arrange parking on Ashton Drive, so thanks for the info earlier in the thread. Not his biggest fan, but he had some cracking hits in the 70’s and most of his early stuff is part of the soundtrack of me growing up! If it really is his farewell tour, glad I saw it and I thought he put on a fantastic performance, even playing one of my favourites, “Have mercy on the criminal”.
