  1. Behaviours, Southampton, it’s up to the players, take out the emotion, all well and good - but any mention of when Vyner’s t-shirts will be ready?
  2. Agree. It’s a business decision at the end of the day, which like the rest of their business decisions are so utterly out of touch with their ‘customers’. Now more than at any other time I can remember, they desperately need to be demonstrating some element of coherent strategy, leadership and progressive decision making for the future of the club to arrest what feels like free fall since NP’s departure… …so they come up with a GCSE art project that will, at best, make them £350 from the 10 they will sell. Priorities are all wrong and they are completely rudderless. Next season is going to be chaos
  3. credit where it is due - they're doing their best
  4. He can’t say “bereft of confidence because we’re made to follow poor tactics that don’t adapt to the match in front of us, and unless we win we get thrown under the bus” Doesn’t roll off the tongue so well
  5. Taking football out the equation entirely…. If I had an experienced manager leading me; someone who had worked for companies at the highest level, a proven track record, seen everything in the industry with buckets of first-hand knowledge and experience and someone who was evidently a well-rounded, articulate people person, motivator and leader. If he, let’s call him say, Nigel, just first name off top of my head. If Nigel was replaced by someone who had al a few qualifications and some experience at a company I know I could work in with my eyes closed, and who’s experienced paled into insignificance, but was really chummy with the CEO, covering his arse and not backing his team, then yeah, pretty sure my motivation would nosedive too. Yes they’re paid handsomely, but they’re people.
  6. Not sure they’re playing for him given every defeat is blamed on them not understanding his methods. The cycle looked like changing under Pearson, who was strong enough to challenge the shackles (Lansdowns) that hold this club back. But look how that ended. It’ll never change so long as they are at the helm. They don’t know what they’re doing, but they don’t want anyone they appoint to find out or challenge it. Nigel did, paid the price. Manning, or whoever else succeeds him will make no further progress, because the moment City make any sustained progress and appear to have things in order, they cannot help but meddle and the cycle starts again.
  7. ‘YOUR team’ x 2 is definitely significant. Nige knows. As is ‘Taking great pride in shaping with intricate and individual detail’ That reads to me as a direct shot to any assumptions from the board that not enough was being done (particularly around players being given too much time off etc). Classy as ever from Pearson, and I’m glad he’s clear on the support and the gratitude the fan base had for him, even if it was a shock to his employers.
  8. You’ve made some pretty big assumptions there that rely on basic levels of competence from the decision makers at BCFC. As pleased as they are with themselves that they now have an actual plan, and are keen to tell the world, I have absolutely zero confidence,( backed by 20+ years of proof) that they wouldn’t actually end up paying more than they can afford, nor do the due diligence necessary. And with all of it, undo everything Nige has created. Those of you able to see the benefits of Lampard, then good for you. Am genuinely jealous of your lasting optimism around any decision this club makes.
  9. I know very little of Eustace, but long term does it even matter what coach we end up with? Eustace, Ancelotti, Guardiola? They’d all have to work under the Lansdowns, meaning they’d get backed for a bit, get worse for a bit, and just when you thought they couldn’t possibly balls it all up again…..catastrofu*k SL should be knighted for his ability to snatch disaster from the jaws of progress. I just can’t see any way that City will sustainably progress over the next however many seasons with them at the helm. Got 20 years of proof to back that, and a catalogue of repeated basic errors of chronic mis-management. Not felt so dis-interested in it all for as long as I can remember
  10. How utterly mental that they are publicly announcing the fact that we 'now have a clear plan of how we want to recruit' (both players and manager). Like it's something worth boasting about that we've finally got our sh*t together enough to know what we are actually trying to do. As a professional football club!! They're quite literally admitting that up until the last couple of seasons, we didn't know what we were looking for, because there was no plan. It was evident to us as fans, but to openly admit it, boast about it, and not see how that looks outwardly at a time where the football media world and prospective new managers are looking in is melting my head
  11. Am I right in thinking this was his debut? That’s hell of a highlights reel from one match! Irks me a little that Bournemouth are the beneficiaries of his talent. But he is to Bournemouth what Bellingham was to Dortmund. A stepping stone to much greater things.
  12. I don't follow the intricacies of any other football club as closely as City, but I would be astounded if there is another club that continually makes the same mistakes time and time again and just never learns from it. It's the hopeless inevitability of it all that is so depressing. To quote Einstein so early on a Monday morning... the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Cotterill having the rug pulled out having built a team with so much momentum and unity. Weeks spent searching for the perfect manager amongst an 'unbelievable calibre of applicants', to end up with Holden. And now the classy and clearly caring Pearson, pushed out for whatever reason, with us now staring at a slim list of inferiority as his replacement. It hung over Nigel from the moment he arrived. He was evidently not going to mince his words or pull his punches when it came to communicating the work necessary to sort the shambles he inherited. That wouldn't have gone down well from the off. He was left to it, with deafening silence from the board at significant times in the clubs development. Too frank, and too honest in his assessments of all things City, he was never going to succeed long-term under the Lansdown's because they only want the plaudits. We only hear from them when its going well, and they vanish when its not. The great irony being that all the bad times stem from their own ineptitude at doing the basics, like having any kind of connection with the fans and backing a manager they chose. So we move on. To a manager who will toe the line, and no doubt tear up everything Nigel has built over the last couple of years. And the cycle of bang average will run again, and we'll limp through another Championship season having just shot ourselves in the foot. Again.
  13. Yeah but @ChippenhamRed would have a meltdown if you actually moved any of the players from his pristine setup
  14. Hightlights: https://www.tntsports.co.uk/football/europa-league/2023-2024/brighton-hove-albion-v-aek-athens-highlights-uefa-europa-league-action-as-visitors-snatch-late-win_vid1997051/video.shtml What a cracking atmosphere too. Looks like AEK fans travel in good numbers!
  15. I’ve just started as head coach for U7’s, albeit with the wrong shaped ball! Started last season to help with cones and bibs etc, and now here I am! But I enjoy it just as much as the kids do, and it’s so good to see kids of all ability levels having a go and enjoying sport and all of its benefits from such a young age.
  16. No, it's 10, with James Gardner-Hickman making his debut. A one man midfield maestro. In which case, I'd get Bell up top too.
  17. Saw enough at the point it said he can take a corner! BRING HIM IN NOW
  18. Renumeration. almost like re-numbering (in my head at least). therefore numbers linked to payments/numbers. no? I don't know what to believe anymore. It's Friday and my brain wasn't prepared for this today
  19. I just googled because I almost didn't believe you. Every day is a school day hey!
  20. How do you pass a medical with a knee injury? As simple as knowing the knee in injured, assessing it as best you can alongside doing all the other feasible medical checks?
