  1. I hope Bird hasn’t done a Steven Gerrard, at the last minute! COYR.
  2. Well REDOXO has been made to look a bit of a mug, hasn’t he COYR.
  3. Manning also says ‘terrific’ a lot, but in the grand scheme of things, who really cares? Here’s to a great 2024 for our reds! And to whomever may read this, I’d like to wish you a happy new year! COYR.
  4. Just spoke to Big Philly Alex and he was in total agreement with your post ? COYR.
  5. I would expect Phil Alexander to be a guest on SOTC a week, or two, after the transfer window shuts! COYR.
  6. Have we signed a new GK? Who’s McLeary ?
  7. His value could quite conceivably increase, if Scott plays well between the start of the season, and the January transfer window. Clubs do love to panic buy in January! COYR.
  8. If Scotty is gonna be loaned back to us for the whole season, we get a guaranteed £20M, £5M in achievable add-ons, plus a 20% sell on. He’s gonna be gone, assuming he doesn’t mind playing for Bournemouth (or whichever team it ends up being). Despite NP dislike of getting loan players in, I’m pretty sure NP would make an exception in this case. COYR.
  9. Putting Scott’s position in terms of midfield numbers, you’d have to say he’s either a number 8, or a number 10. I personally see his best position is as a number 8. COYR.
  10. As much as I would have liked having JB back, I’m not too worried that he has decided to go elsewhere. There are plenty of other options, out there, that can be a backup / future replacement for Pring. Strengthening at CB, DCM & and another GK to challenge MOL would be my priority signings. A bonus would possibly be us signing a target man type striker, and Scotty signs an extension to his current contract and stays for one more season (injuries permitting, I can only see his value going up). COYR.
  11. Naismith & Conway ain’t too bad. And don’t forget the soon to be arriving JB ? COYR.
  12. I’m not saying I’m against us signing JB, or wanting us to sell Cam Pring, but where would that put Bell & Mehmeti, if we signed JB and Currie, whilst keeping Pring? First world problems,. COYR.
  13. @Agard Days Night @bcfc01 @Cov 77 What’s confusing you lot? Seems like a pretty straightforward theory. COYR.
  14. The only way I can possibly see us resigning JB, during this summer’s transfer window, would be if we sold Cam Pring. If we did that the I could see us signing JB and the youngster, Jack Currie, from AFC Wimbledon. COYR.
  15. Doesn't sound dissimilar to what was being said about Zak Vyner, during the last off season, and look what’s happened this season. So don’t write Wilson off just yet. COYR.
  16. I assume 3.5 games includes the match against Man City, so really it’s 2.5 league games. Which doesn’t seem quite as bad, does it. COYR.
  17. Now that Scott is playing next to James, the likelihood that he picks up a booking has certainly increased. Bringing on the promising, yet extremely inexperienced OTC, so we could move Scott back to the number 10 position, would be a huge gamble by NP. With Williams likely to be out for a lengthy spell, we can’t really afford to loose Scott to suspension for the next 2 matches. From what NP said in the prematch presser, they don’t want to rush Naismith back to quickly, probably first match after the upcoming international break. Decisions, decisions! COYR.
  18. Quiz question: Who was the last player Bristol City signed permanently from Wycombe Wanderers? COYR.
  19. Is he one of their best players though? ? COYR.
  20. Anthony’s lad? ? I did hear that after he’d retired, he moved to Italy ?? If he’s half the player, we’ll have a player on our hands! COYR.
  21. @The Bard I do like that idea. Another idea I’ve heard discussed is having 3 VAR’s (possibly one being a former player) independent of each other. Majority rules, so if 2 out of the 3 decide the ref has made a clear mistake then that’s it, decision made, and the on pitch refs decision is overturned (with full disclosure given to the crowd, and viewers when the match is being broadcast).
  22. @RoystonFoote'snephew The on pitch ref does ultimately make the final decision, but he can only do that based on what video images VAR are giving them to look at on the pitch-side monitor. On MOTD they said the key angle clearly showing Mitchell shoving Willock into the Guaita was not given to Salisbury (the ref) to review. Remember, initially he has given the goal. Mason (the VAR) had somehow decided that the on pitch ref had made a clear and obvious error, which was totally wrong. Also VAR had seen all the angles. In this occasion I do feel for Salisbury. He has far less experience at EPL level than Mason, so once he was sent to the monitor and saw what he was given to see, there was always going to be a very high probability that he was going to reverse his originally correct decision, and disallow the goal. In most jobs, if someone experienced tells a less experienced member of staff they have made a mistake, it would be completely natural for the inexperienced person to listen. Wouldn’t you agree?
  23. Sorry but putting a time limit, or watching a small amount of possible replays, will only make for more VAR errors. One of the reasons they got the decision wrong in the Newcastle v Palace match was because the ref was not given the best angle of the incident to look at, on the pitch-side monitor, by VAR. Also the VAR was the more experienced of the two, so doubt the on field ref wanted to overrule him (based on the pictures he was given to look at).
  24. Also with Klose & Kalas injured, he is stilled needed. Maybe things will be different come January. COYR.
  25. If he’s not injured, then Pring clearly needs to do better in training! COYR.
