After I was lucky enough to take early retirement I signed on at several schoolsand colleges as a seasonal exam invigilator. I was quite shocked how the exam standards fell over a relatively short time. Particularly in the GCSE English language papers. First the instructions by a member of staff at the beginning included "You don't have to worry too much about the grammar, i.e. punctuation. " and a couple of years later spelling was added to the "not important" instructions. This might be a great way to raise exam grades but as for keeping the standards high?

I've always tried to compare my parents' music to mine and like you I can't get over the changes that must have evolved in the 50s/60s. My kids' music tastes have become quite eclectic and they range from ours in the 60s/70s to present day. I could never have included my parents' choices from 30s/40s/50s! Joe Loss and Victor Sylvestor were never my thing! ?

I noticed this and it was all the more disappointing knowing how he usually plays so yes it was worth a criticism. It reminded me of seasons not so long ago when 50/50 balls were deemed a lost cause by the players.
