  1. Anybody remember going to Orient when the lights failed? Can’t remember the year (70’s-80’s) but got a feeling we went 1-0 up through Richie before they equalised. Match was held up for something like 30 minutes. Was obviously a good day on the cider as I don’t recall if we dove or travelled by train.
  2. Thought he was excellent, loved that full bloodied double tackle. Looks a great signing!
  3. Harry, I don’t know what you base your comment on? There is nobody prouder of their Bristolian roots than me, but I live just outside Southend (and have done for 35 years) and it’s no different to Bristol or any other major city/town in that there are both good and bad parts of Southend and it’s surrounding areas. You can’t just judge a place by the setting of its football ground, Roots Hall is a poor ground in a poor part of Southend. Imagine if everyones view of Bristol was based on Eastvile!!!
  4. The Shrimpers are my local club and are unfortunately a complete basket case. Yesterday’s game was halted for 8 minutes as fans protested on the pitch against the current owner Ron Martin, the second pitch invasion in consecutive matches. So many problems off the pitch, echoes of the blue few with, in this case Sainsbury’s pulling out of a proposed ground purchase just over 10 years ago. It’s been a downward spiral for years and although hopeful I’m not confident that the future bodes well for this well loved club. I was told there were more than 6000 there yesterday which shows great support for a National League team.
