  1. Not sure about massengo, but I’m sure Johnson said Nagy has been suffering from flu/a cold.
  2. I’m not a huge O’Dowda fan but thought he was excellent when he came on and helped see the game out. He harried Rooney rather than giving him all the time in the world. He looked lively and fully deserved his place in the squad on that performance. I also think there was nothing wrong with Johnson’s subs. He wanted to make a double sub but had to change his plans when Korey picked up a knock. We were losing the midfield battle so had to sacrifice a striker. Yes Wells is our new striker and has scored more than Fam this season, but Fam is currently undroppable in his current form and is the better lone striker. yes they were causing us problems down our right, but bringing on Weimann put a stop to that. Watching it back now I think we saw it out comfortably and had 2 great chances to kill the game off. Their goals came due to lapses in concentration and nothing to with lee Johnson and certainly nothing to do with his subs on this occasion. In fact I think Weimann and O’Dowda were instrumental in seeing the game out. you sir are speaking nonsense.
  3. opologies i left my computer unattended for 5 minutes and this was posted on my behalf. i dont know how to delete it.
  4. What I don't get is that you've gone out of your way to spell "their" and still got it wrong. It's "they're" as in they(a)re trained hard. it's like when someone goes out of "their" way to say "I" when they should have said "me" It's as though they've been educated but still get it wrong. Just very odd.... if in doubt write "there" and say "me". that way people will just assume you are uneducated rather than stupid.
  5. This is a league I’ve only ever known us to struggle in. I’ve swung back and forth more times than Philip schofield on whether Johnson should be sacked. I wanted Johnson snr sacked and things got worse and worse every season after he left until eventual we were inevitably relegated. johnson drives me mad at times but he has achieved something I have never known at this level which is year on year progression (in points on league position) if you think that landsdown will sack Johnson and go and appoint a Bielsa or nuno Espírito Santo then you are dillusional. I’d like to think he’d appoint Nigel Adkins, but it would more likely be Jamie mcalister.
  6. It’s so frustrating, because away from home Johnson clearly has it nailed. This is a tough tough division, and I expect that away from home Johnson’s record is up there with some of the best that have managed anyone in this league let alone Bristol city, and for that reason alone he deserves to stay. But at home we look clueless and devoid of confidence and he seems to have no idea how to change it. No matter the opposition we cannot get into a pattern of play and dominate a team. As soon as he cracks that we’ll be laughing. I do fear that even though on paper it looks a great transfer window, he’ll now need his 20 odd games to figure out his best team again. I’m confident that we’ll be promoted before we’re relegated under Johnson but it won’t be this season or any time soon. better the devil you know I think. Chopping and changing the manger is not the answer, and some of the names banded around are a joke.
  7. Hahahahahaha ive never heard that one before hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ........... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
  8. on holiday in bovey tracey. be sure to check out the marble museum.
  9. I criticised the sub at the time. I thought that Paterson is a player with the potential to just have that one moment of magic, and I don’t think that O’Dowda is an impact sub. But I think having odowda on that wing gave dasilva more freedom to bomb forward and create the winner. I guess for every disastrous decision like to not bring on a cb against Brentford, he gets it right sometimes too
  10. I agree. I think a draw would have been a fair result, and both teams had the chances to win it. I actually really enjoyed the game today and thought Barnsley looked better than their league position. i am not a fan of Johnson, but that is 3 wins in 4 in the league now. And while some will point at the quality of the opposition in those games, the frequent criticism is that we cannot bet the poor teams at home. there are no easy games in this league and surprises are thrown up all the time. hopefully we’re now on the start of one of Johnson’s long winning streaks

He is our best central defender by a considerable distance. Not that comfortable on the ball when we are fannying around with it at the back, but is an absolute rock. But he appears to be a rock made of glass at times which is a real shame.
  12. Eliasson took most of the corners in the first half. As good as his crossing is from open play I always thought his crossing from a deaf ball left a little to be desired, often struggling to beat the firsts man or completely over hitting it. Nothing wrong with them today though
  13. 1 - Nigel Adkins 2- League position is not the be all and end all. i'd like to be in the playoffs, but i want to be entertained for my money i pay 3 - Quality of football is poor, he over thinks everything, and we have a bloated squad that has the look and feel as though it has been put together by 3/4 different managers, because each season he seems to rip up last years rule book that failed and try something different the next season 4 - Probably not, although should we miraculously make the playoffs and scrape our way through we would be crucified in the premiership. but i just do not see it happening. we've been poor at home during most of his tenure, but now the team look affraid to play at ashton gate because the crowd are getting frustraited at the poor quality and style of football currently being offered. 5 - 2/3 years. we need a clear out and re-build rather than just splashing the cash
  14. I'd agree with that, accept maybe i'd pick basso over bentley. Basso was solid that season, made some spectacular (if over elaborate) saves, but his positivity and influence was huge. Solid team though. Carey as captain, that would be a no nonsense team with plenty of flair and creativity. And plenty of game changers on the bench,
  15. I don’t get the love in with brownhill. He’s a decent championship midfielder, but £7m would be a great bit of business on our part imo
  16. I was very impressed by Wigan at our place earlier this season. Was probably the first game where we were outplayed by one of the so called lesser sides in the division. We were lucky to get a point. any point away from home is a good point in this league and to get all 3 yesterday is a great result regardless of performance and Wigan’s lowly league position.
  17. That’s the DNA they preach. Shirking all responsibility
  18. i was looking at the same fixtures earlier and i'm afraid i cannot see 12 points in there at all. i would love to be proved wrong. we were awful at wigan last season. best I'm hoping for there is a point. We'll beat Barnsley at home. But then we're playing sides who we have a terrible record against. We normally get beaten in a boring game at reading, and their form has picked up drastically, enough to the point that it is not that far fetched for them to be above us when we play them. Other than last season we never beat QPR at their place. And Birmingham also normally have the beating of us. I think we'll do well to get 5 points out of that lot, which would start seeing a gap open up between us and the playoffs That said 1 point at wigan and a win against barnsley might put this wretched run behind us and with a couple of new faces and renewed optimism we might all be pleasantly surprised.
  19. i agree the current rule is ridiculous
  20. what's nigel adkins up to since he left hull. he'd be first on my list if he was available, and if there was a vacancy
  21. I think we have a scatter gun approach to player recruitment with the only criteria being that they need to be young and have the ability to increase in value in the future. We do not identify players based on a need within the team or fit into a particular style of football. From the outside it looks as though because we failed to get promoted playing one way then at the end of the season Johnson rips up that plan and tries something different. As a result we have a large squad of players that look like they've been assembled by 3 or 4 different managers. You wouldn't say that it is a team that has been developed over 4 years by one manager with a clear idea and vision of how he's going to kick us on. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in this regard and suggest that he doesn't have much say in the players we bring in. Maybe he says we need a striker and the recruitment team give him the option of 2 or 3 that they have been tracking and fit into our business model. And it cant be easy having to sell your best players every season, though that is no different to anyone at this level and brentford are certainly the benchmark of what can be achieved with less resources that ourselves. There is a manager in there somewhere, we have witnessed more points and a higher league position each year under his tenure, we have seen some great football at times under him, and he certainly has thick skin with all the criticism and vitriol that is aimed his way. But the quality of the football is currently awful and getting worse all the time, he doesn't help him self, and he really needs to take a step back, tone down the technical jargon and concentrate on the basics before trying to outwit the opposition manager, which sadly he seems to be going the opposite way and his decisions seem more baffling all the time.
  22. Coz the football is cr@p and it’s getting worse
  23. How’s he going to measure the length of the grass? This is a disaster
