  1. This epic thread gets less and less relevant by the day.. ...?
  2. The statement reads the proposed buyer felt it was not viable to continue. In that case it will be better to let the club fold and perhaps reform again in the future? Although I am a bit surprised that a club in the Manchester area has actually folded, given the type of support it has for the game. If any club was to fold I would have considered a West Country club to do so where there is a greater support for Rugby Union. OK we have stared down the barrel ourselves, and the Club have evolved as a business, not just as a Football Club, but embraced other sports too, and of course Rugby, very shrewd is our Mr L.
  3. Patronising or what? Come off it we all know that turning a blind eye to certain posters is all part of OTIB, I am never abusive , OK I might have views some might not like but It Is A Forum, where all views should be tolerated, like I say I don't post offensive content, but have to receive plenty, surely by studying the thread you might see that.? I know it's difficult to remain impartial, especially with your involvement with that case, but you really should. Perhaps you might guide me as to what is a 'sensible' post?
  4. Mods I suppose I am the nawty step because of the 1-0 wmp police thread, am I to assume that having an opinion and getting modded is how a Forum should work? Surely if we all had the same opinions it would be a dull place. Come on....
  5. they are 4th...show some class and then hope they lose the next three.
  6. We are constantly having images of war zones and the victims beamed into our homes, this tragedy is probably less traumatic as an option to view or not. However I don't see any need to curtail the headline, it is the one that the BBC are using after all. It may be football related but we are all of an age to decide if we need to continue to read further, or not. It would appear as greed was the downfall of this young man, not his, but of others, to me it or should be a lesson that footballers are not merely a commodity but have a life too, and like us have families and loved one's. Perhaps we also should remember this, instead of rather cruelly exposing a player weakness such as ability, colour or sexuality, I have witnessed all of that down at Ashton Gate, but perhaps the worst was paedo chants to a player that was once one of ours as in being Bristolian. I dislike bullies, I dislike constant berating of players on here, even managers, and yet when something like this happens we turn into the perfect human beings. And yet in all this, one thing has emerged loud and clear that the man we most berate of all, Neil Warnock has empathy and a huge heart, not at all the figure we would prefer him to be. If nothing else this terribly sad event will have effect on how we view others, or should do.
  7. Awful news, a lot of respect on here. Football united.
  8. The state of Bristol football err 'fans'.
  9. How the Hell can anyone have a reasonable discussion when the other uses such negative language such as 'fewers' and hanging around like a bad smell? We are talking about Bristol Rovers, perhaps you might have relatives friends who support them and perfectly level headed reasonable folk who don't deserve to have their team go under. In fact your sort of rhetoric only serves to convince me that you are either stupid or just 'fishing' for 'likes' either way you have succeeded. I have looked up the number of times we have played them since the beginning of time, and as expected we come out on top, I go back a few years and the list certainly reminds me of some fantastic derbies we had, and not all going our way of course, crowds in excess of 30,00 too, but you don't want that do you? The point I was making about a good Rovers resulted in a better City is a valid one ask anyone who is old enough to remember.
  10. Comparing the two clubs we are of course doing better , but as said we have always historically done better when Rovers have exceeded their potential, and being almost bottom of the third tier is very poor for a City the size of Bristol. You might prefer to use Rovers as a guide as to how we are doing in comparison, which I wouldn't , better I think we look up rather than down. What are you frightened of? Surely a better Rovers will surely get a bit of competition back, passion and some cracking local derbies again.
  11. Yep the actually being there is the best place to assess, or so you would think!! So I do rather depend on reports given by Dave etc as to who individuals are doing, and of course the telly and 'net...I just can't just ask my supporting City mate as to how we are doing, I don't have any here in Tewkesbury....that I know of, (City supporters not mates) ?
  12. You do very well in proving my points, but such poor retorts are designed just to avoid replying the more important points I make...but there you go, it's a Bristol thang. ?
  13. No it doesn't, I am at a ripe old age now, and as said it would entail a 90 mile round trip, and I am afraid the cost is just too much. I live and breath City, always have and always will. Of course as a younger bloke I did go to every home match when I lived close, and worked in Bristol, even school days, but things change, I never miss some sort of commentary, and match day's take centre stage over everything else. It's a real bind, it can be a real curse. You should ask my missus!!
  14. I do play the Devil's Advocate that's true, never a one to hop on to the nearest bandwagon, Although born in Bristol and 'educated in Bristol I got out before die was really cast I suppose, but Bristol football is in the doldrums and it seems to mirror the Bristol character, that we are nothing but honest about ourselves, perhaps a bit too much? Mind you the alternative is far worse in being a Liverpool or Man U I suppose...deluded beyond help.
  15. Well done, now you can kick back and relax the rest of the day... got me there on a typo, but let's ignore the real content eh? Yea....
  16. I don't Tom, it just seems so negative on here, with all the turning in on LJ and some players, I do think it's Bristol trait however, so nothing I say will make a blind bit of difference, but it is a forum and and a CITY forum, Rovers to me are just another team that have huge problems, but bottom line Bristol will be a lot worse off if they wen't under I guess.I know some of the comments are made in jest, but we at the moment would be best to just keep a lid on it, especially with Leeds looming..
  17. Never? Mmmm get some time in, always been City, seen Big John home and away, there for Pompey ...on the pitch Arsenal, three Wembly's the lot, now I admit can't go as much as I would like or afford, but doesn't make me less of a fan, than you , but probably a lot wiser x
  18. Oh! I do...not just the thread but the whole mentality, which is c.1970. Anyway last word on it from me, but just to say we need a strong Rovers (gulp) and a stronger City. We had 15 minutes of fame last season, and now we are forgotten, Bristol Football = joke.
  19. Worst than OTIB? I don''t think so, can't help but think we need to get out own house in order before we piss ourselves at that lot, hardly worth bothering with anyway, but I am afraid, again Bristol Football is becoming a joke, when especially half the population can't tell the difference between City and Rovers.
  20. Not forgetting that after the Lord Mayors Show at Arsenal the tragedy of losing Paul Cheesley against them the following Tuesday. The play off's the terrible football they dished up with Pulis, Pulis the man, and Stoke itself. We cannot overcome them, we never have and never will, one of life's given.
