  1. Ironically it woulda gone down like a lead balloon if we’d appointed him manager when he was in the building (post Holden I guess? Can’t think when he was here). Looks as though it woulda been a great shout!
  2. No apology necessary! I do disagree but that’s the beauty of a football forum. 1 in 2 is great form for a forward at almost any club, and while two are penalties, as you say they need putting away. Agree he’s had some off games but to write him off from them is very premature imo. I don’t think I’ve yo yo’d on him, I’ve thought Wells should get some starts at times over TC (or with him) but I’ve always thought Tommy’s a very good young player, with the off games that come with that.
  3. ROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. And Bajic, King and Nahki getting some minutes too!
  4. Maybe worth looking elsewhere then anyway imo. That central attack role is locked down by Knight and we have able cover in Weimann and eventually Benarous. RW far more pressing.
  5. It’s a squad and manager that’s easy to be proud of. And Manning’s high potential as a manager has shone through at times in his early tenure. I think he’ll have a long, successful career. I hope beyond hope his first big success is here, and he’s not one that goes onto big things elsewhere and we’re left saying ‘what if’.
  6. The problem with drawing Rovers/Norwich, is if we get through we’ll likely play Norwich. And they’re two for two on us this season!
  7. Yea very good today. Not sure on their goal, it’s a weird one, but 4 really good saves after that.
  8. @Dullmoan Tone why the head in hands reaction?
  9. Goal every 173 minutes then - so better than 1 in 2. Sell baby sell?…
  10. 7 in 20 this season, and I think he’ll admit himself he’s had some off games. If he’s going a little under 1 in 2, and that’s him ‘off’… yea I’d probably keep our hands on this one! 21 years old and 20 City goals to his name by the way!
  11. This one a miss from Nixon then? Could have been a useful player for us, with Sykes out we’ve only got Bell and Anis for two wing spots. Twine can play right side.
  12. I definitely like the direction we’re moving in under Manning, I feel like we could be on to something good. Which made Brum and Millwall all the more upsetting. If we can find the formula to play and score against low-block teams, be that tactics, confidence or new personnel, I think we’re the best bet we’ve been for a play-off spot since mid LJ. But if we can’t, I think we continue to fall short. Comfy mid-table still, no relegation danger, but not quite a promotion contender.
  13. Emotions a bit mixed for me after that. We played very well and got the replay, but when we equalised we were well on course to go and do them today. And after Brum and Millwall, I really coulda done with seeing us win! No new knocks, about 7 for West Ham mind! Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts Benarous Sykes
  14. Am I the only one who thought/hoped with only two fit wingers we’d change shape and give Tommy a strike partner? Well we haven’t, Bell and Mehmeti start on the flanks in Sykes absence. West Ham have gone strong too, which makes me a little nervous! No new returns and we name one less player rather than replace Sykes with a youngster on the bench. Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts Benarous Sykes
  15. Our talented Irish contingent grows. Welcome Adam!
  16. They better do something serious against West Ham after that crock of shite! Naturally, we got a player back, so the football God’s took one. An important one too in Sykes. Vyner was also hobbling late but I’ll leave him off for now. Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts Benarous Sykes
  17. Happy new year Phil, my pleasure re this thread. Keeps me out of trouble! King is fit and returns to the bench at Yeboah’s expense. Experienced cover for the midfield and maybe even Centre-half roles if required. Otherwise, unchanged 20. COYR. Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts Benarous
  18. Is it just me or does tomorrow feel huge? I have a habit of feeling like this about every game we play but tomorrow just feels massive to me. No Championship football for two weeks after New Year’s Day, as it’s FA Cup next weekend and our trip to WHU. We could spend those two weeks just outside the play-off places, potentially even in them. A two weeks when we can bring in reinforcements and see some big players back from injury. We beat Millwall tomorrow and we’ll be well placed for a full blooded assault on the PO’s in the second half of the season and the fanbase will be really believing. So let’s get right into them. They have a few injuries and suspensions and apparently they’re only bringing 600, let’s drown them out completely and start 2024 as we mean to go on. COYFR ️️
  19. What a cruel thing to wish on a kid! Hope he enjoys it OP. Nothing like going the footy with your dad.
  20. It’s my ‘Christmas day’ today since family were working the 25th, hence no pre match update today. But no headlines, same 20 players as Watford away. Sadly no Christmas gift from City for me, big physical teams in a low block remain our kryptonite for now. A little frustrating to beat good teams then play poorly at a bad one, but 10 points from 4 means it’s hard to be too upset. No new knocks that I saw! Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts King Benarous
  21. You could hear him hesitate on the word 'sucked', but there was no saving it On a more serious note, they're a bit of a wounded animal at the moment. Many will be expecting us to put the nail in Rooney's coffin but wounded animals are often dangerous, we'll need to be right up for a fight on Friday.
  22. All pretty on the money. How many did Fam end up with? He got just over 50 if I'm right, 51 or 52. Meaning Weimann can surpass him as our greatest goalscorer of the past 15 or so years.
  23. Respect for not going and getting on the p*ss in Watford! Think I’d have been doing pints and a hotel after that
