Win win. Two good players battling it out for the starting berth. Be happy with either on the team sheet.
-
My only whinge from tonight is I’d have liked to have seen Araoye or Knight-Lebel get some first-team minutes while we were so comfy at 4-1/5-1. Opportunity to rest Zak or Rob too. BUT was really cool seeing Yeboah get a run out, and enjoyed his pace and presence. Looked very bright.

Would rather QPR than Norwich of course, but home and doable so we’ll take it.
Good win tonight, well in lads ️
-
Vyner and Dickie looking a good pair, and with Naismith back we have a more than able deputy out of midfield. Well done to the centre-halves ️
-
Hopefully a clean bill of health from a dominant win tonight, no sign of any injuries. In a week where our two star-boys are tearing hamstrings and chasing premier league dreams, battering Oxford and silencing that away end helped a little.
He stays on the list til it’s confirmed
Injured:
Atkinson
McCrorie
Scott
Benarous
Weimann
Conway

Naismith back on the bench is a massive boon. Smart as well not to throw him straight in, more likely to need him against Millwall. Yebaoh on the bench due to dwindling numbers, be cool to see him get a run out.

I've possibly overreacted a tad then.
2020-21 was unbelievable. You're saying we were about average in 2021-22 and 2022-23? Or indeed slightly better.
So frustrating though, we have to be aiming at doing a bit better. Not as if we habe large resources and a deep squad, it is starting to look a bit dangerously thin.
Tanner, Vyner, Dickie, Pring, Roberts
James, Williams, King, Knight
Sykes, Cornick, Bell, Mehmeti
Wells
Who am I missing, seniorish or regularish outfield wise. No I am not including Leeson, Knight-Lebel or Araoye for these purposes.
Easy to be frustrated, I wouldn’t call it an overreaction. It’s certainly very frustrating. Law of averages says we’ll have a season soon where it all clicks, and it’ll be penalties and availability galore

Only my head from hitting the desk repeatedly
Is that 20 separate offences? That’s bordering on full time work!

Looking forward to tonight. Another dose of Ashton Gate after a long summer and hoping to see one or both of Araoye/Knight-Lebel in action for the first time.
Draw is directly after the match so should we progress, we'll know our next opponents almost immediately.
Joe Williams to score.

Like the Squad Updates thread I think it would have been better if last season's Injured List thread had just continued in to this season.
The Injured List has been going for a few seasons now and it would be fascinating (to me anyway) to see it all on one continuous thread from the start to show just how consistently bad our injury situation has been over the last few years.
Perhaps the mods could link them all together?
Is this possible @phantom ?
Open to this would be interesting.

Don’t keep a close eye on others but I would guess the last two seasons we’ve been about average/slightly better than average. The season before that, and this season thus far, I think one of the worst.

Ever since this thread has started, we have been dropping like flies…
These threads were born out of the injury crisis a few years ago when we had circa 15 out. I would love nothing more than to support a club where this ain’t necessary

I've used the kick line for a while but have go start to wonder a bit.
Not so kuch Rennie but are training methods perhaps dialled up a bit too far, work with the ball vs work without the ball?
Etc.
I can’t lie I’m looking at Rennie now. He seemed to get everything under control last season but this is starting to feel like the dark days of the Holden era now (solely from an injury perspective that is).

Selling Scott doesn't free up much in the wages area which is what City are quite high on.
Is Nige saying this not a bit of a ploy to keep expectations in check? If we sold Scott for £20+5m having got £10m for Antoine 8 months ago, surely we’re financially very comfortable?

Seeing as Benarous played for the 21s today & Naismith is apparently back in training they’re not injured, are they?
I basically include any players who aren’t match-fit for the first team, so we know who we can expect to be picking from for any upcoming games. Great news about them both though, hoping we may even see Naismith tomorrow (in which instance he’ll leave the list - and save our season ).

Say it quietly, do we accelerate the Scott sale to finance some squad depth.
-
Conway has torn his hamstring. This may be an injury crisis at this point, 7 injured in a squad of 26 is over 1/4 of the players. Of the players we gave squad numbers too, we have 19 left, not enough for a full Matchday squad. When will we become a club that gets some luck? Or just less bad luck? Hopefully it turns soon, let’s get behind the boys we still have until then ️
Injured:
Atkinson
McCrorie
Naismith
Scott
Benarous
Weimann

Too early to say injuries have tanked our season? Because it feels like injuries have tanked our season. Rest up TC

Save stating a new thread on a busy weekend, how do people think we line up Weds. Strong to get the home win, youngsters to protect our fairly thin squad, or a mix? Think I’d do something like (433):
O’Leary: Tanner, Vyner, Araoye, Pring: Williams, Knight, King: Cornick, Wells, Mehmeti.
It’s a lot of tough calls, but my thinking was to keep Dickie, James, Sykes and Conway on ice until the war with Millwall. Hopefully we see one or two back from injury (Weimann? Naismith?) which would of course change things.

Community Shield @ 4. Good chance to see how the best two sides in England last year are looking.
-
Until Knight is up to speed, no Naismith or Scott in the team is gonna hurt us. 3 shots today, imo because the team weren’t springing any attacks. Long balls to monstrous centre-halves were always a long shot.
-
Disappointed with performance and two old habits - poor after scoring and poor after 85. Thought our quality was below the mark for most of today. We got a point - that’s a nice positive. But hard not to feel a bit flat, we’ve been here far too many times before.
Edit: Dickie, Vyner, Williams, Bell very good. Deserve special mentions.

A point on the board is ok, albeit we showed some old traits - poor after taking the lead and poor late in the game. But it’s Matchday 1 - nothing won or lost today! Onto the Cup and a nice home win.
Weimann joins a growing injury list.
Injured:Atkinson
McCrorie
Naismith
Scott
Benarous
Weimann

Disappointing performance, I expected more from us today. We took one of our few chances but then went very City - hated having the lead. And sure enough, lost the lead late. All painfully familiar.

Might’ve been about continuing to build the Vyner-Dickie combo too. Get them more familiar with one another’s game.
