  1. I think Max is far superior dealing with crosses, distributes the ball far better and the back line seems more calm in front of him. Considering the difference in wage, for me Max is the future and Bentley should be off in Jan or the end of the season as his wage could be better spent elsewhere in the team.
  2. I think as long as we stay up we are building. This team reminds me of the team in the 70's that got us into Division 1. The talent is raw at the moment and we need some more experience but the team spirit is great. NP has changed the culture and if we are patient I think good things will come. Priority for me it making crosses more productive both by the quality of delivery and the positioning of players in the box.
  3. From the team he picked and the way they played perhaps mentally he is still with Brighton?
  4. When we leave a fast player up the pitch most times the opposition mark him with 2 players. I would like to see us leave 2 up the field standing on half way on each touch line. I think the opposition would bring at least 3 back and each time Max catches the ball a break is on.
  5. Teach them how to beat their man when 1 on 1 and actually cross to someone. It drives me crazy when DaSilva finds himself 1 on 1 and still passes inside. If he can't beat a man and cross why is he in the side?
  6. I think there are 2 main factors a) Teams have worked us out and don't leave any space in behind. They know when we have a lot of possession with no spaces to run into, we become frustrated and negative. At this point we are easy to take on the break or we lose the ball in our half. b) Conway has lost his zip, either because is tired or he thinks he has arrived and so runs less.
  7. I think we went to zonal marking because NP said we had too many unreliable markers
  8. If you want more people to sing it make the song simpler. I don't really want to buy a lyrics sheet to be able to join in
  9. Clearly he is a total hand full with a great shot in both feet. I hope our coaches can help him to close down without getting so many fouls awarded against him and improve his first touch when the ball is played to him with his back to goal. Sounds picky but with a bit of polishing he could be prem quality easily.
  10. I think Bentley has 2 weak points. a) coming off of his line to claim or punch crosses b) distribution. Clearly he far more comfortable to hit it long that play a shorter ball. I thought as per last season the defence looks more confident in front of Max. Having said that Bentley is a great shot stopper and great with one on ones. I think his dropping sent the right message to the team and Max should stay in until his form drops
  11. I had the same. I called and got the seat I wanted no problems
  12. Frankly I am not too interested in spending a bunch of money to improve the experience of away supporters at that end. I would rather see us hang onto our young stars and make a meaningful promotion challenge
  13. When Kalas is back why not play him as defensive midfielder
  14. I think the Queen was a "carry on with life" type person. For me I am very sad that this great person has left us but better to celebrate her life than mourn her loss. I would think it would be great if each game could start 10 mins later and use those 10 mins via the big screen or P.A system to remember her life ending with the national anthem and 1 minutes perfectly respected silence. I would hope than even the most indifferent fans would respect the occasion and take part or just keep quiet.
  15. We improved massively in this area when Max was included last year
  16. Firstly if we don't sell Scott and Semenyo now we will be forced to sell them for a discount when they get closer to the end of their contract. So let's say we do sell, how would we attract some quality players within our wage structure considering we are a struggling team close to the bottom of the table. My fear is that we would make a snap decision and end up with yet another journeyman looking for a retirement plan.
  17. For me the big question is " do the players really believe in him"?
  18. I don't agree, I sit in the Dolman and there are plenty of people who like to sign when they know the song. It makes no sense to sing songs for DaSilva and Massengo when neither is playing very well but don't have a rousing song for Wiemann. I also don't find the Cardiff get battered song very motivational when we are playing someone else. Make it simple and well targeted and people will join in
  19. If the singing section was in the middle of the South Stand far more people on each side would join in.
  20. When you stick your singing section into a corner where most clubs put away supporters When you give the away fans a whole end And when the songs our section sings are clever little compositions rather than simple chants that the whole ground can sing, we will never get a good atmosphere In any other ground when Wiemann scores you would hear something like na na na, na na na, aaa Andy Weimann. The whole ground would join. What do we get, clever little songs for Dasilva and Massengo because we like the song. I wonder how the likes of Bentley, Scott or Martin feel when they star, and barely get a cheer. For god sake get a good and simple song for each player and sing it to the roof tops.
  21. For me the problem is, who would want to own a Championship club? Considering parachute payments and FFP its a pretty toxic environment to enter even if your ego and wealth allows you to invest with little chance of ever seeing a profit. Until wages and income are balanced very few sane people will enter club ownership. As for us, SL made the big bid but had the wrong management team in place. Money wasted, hands tied with FFP because of that and a supporter base that expects far more than he can deliver. Why would he not want to sell?
  22. OK I am putting my tin hat on ready for the flack my comments will surely get. We have no defensive midfielder. Even when fit James is just not mobile enough and with his injury record will miss a lot of games. Han is just not suited to that role. Our chances of signing a good Championship level defensive midfielder look remote. So why wouldn't we look at Vyner. He is fast, he has a good pass in him (2 assists so far). Yes he has lapses in concentration but I think these would be less critical in midfield. For me he would need lots of coaching but I cannot see any other option in our squad.
  23. In the first half we had good movement and plenty of forward passing options. In the second half we went back to last season with no movement. Each time the ball got played wide at the back our midfield was either hiding or running away from the ball. As soon as the opposition see this, their press is energised. When ever you want to grown at yet another sideways pass along the back 4 take a look at the passing options. This has been the case for years now. I thought our entire midfield went awol in the second half. Also concerning, we were clearly getting overrun in midfield but had no real options on the bench to improve things.
