  1. Totally agree, this is typical Ian Gay - there are 8 games left in the season, so all he is saying is that Manning is here until the end of the season, which as his current contract applies would be correct, however if things go pear shaped and he gets the sack then Ian can crow to all that Manning was being judged on or within those 8 games and the he (Ian) was ITK. Total bullshit
  2. See the "Video of the day" thread, in that video you can see Tommy is clearly onside
  3. Boxing Day 2002 v Plymouth 0-0 Was the most boring for me, suppose it comes second to the OPs as we got a point
  4. Stefan Kuntz, (last job Turkish National team) should fit in well with the hierarchy.
  5. Dave, on one of the other threads you mentioned a few things about Tinnion, his promotion and his yearning to have more academy players, etc. I have nothing but a cynical suspicion and no grounds to back it up, however what if his obsession with getting more from the academy led to him and his decision not to spend the Scott money and not SL in the first place? As Technical Director surely he would be in a strong place of influence. As said I have no axe to grind and am not mischief making, just providing another angle to consider.
  6. Going home, we’ll done Bailey, best wishes for the future
  7. You are right. I was at school in the 60s, I was a left winger and scored the best goal I could ever have done, the ball came from the right, I drifted into the middle and hit a shot from the edge of the penalty area (bear in mind it was the old ball, heavy when wet, luckily it was a dry day) straight past the keeper into the far corner. All my team mates were happy as was I, until the teacher called me over and told me I was out of position and should stay on the left wing, he then gave the inside left (left sided striker to you youngsters) a massive rollocking for not being in the position to take the shot instead of me. Glad times have changed for the better.
  8. Just looked at BBC for report on Bristol City V West Brom game, caption on there indicates highlights of the game. Click on it and you get Blackburn Rovers v Birmingham.
  9. I hope he'll be off, not because I don't like him, but because it will help us with wages and ffp.
  10. The cynic in me thinks that Mel Morris would want the club to fold in order to be able to sell and develop the football ground? I don't know if that is feasible or not! But it would definitely be a theory as to why the goalposts keep moving with regard to bidders/bids.
  11. BBC Sports has an article stating that EFL are allowing Derby to sign out of contract players, but within strict wage limits. That'll be interesting!!!
  12. This is not posted to scaremonger, however it explains how serious this situation is. Good read from an immunologist at Johns Hopkins University Not really feeling sick and do not want to be..but if you are feeling confused as to why Coronavirus is a bigger deal than Seasonal flu? Here it is in a nutshell. I hope this helps. Feel free to share this to others who don’t understand... It has to do with RNA sequencing.... I.e. genetics. Seasonal flu is an “all human virus”. The DNA/RNA chains that make up the virus are recognized by the human immune system. This means that your body has some immunity to it before it comes around each year... you get immunity two ways...through exposure to a virus, or by getting a flu shot. Novel viruses, come from animals.... the WHO tracks novel viruses in animals, (sometimes for years watching for mutations). Usually these viruses only transfer from animal to animal (pigs in the case of H1N1) (birds in the case of the Spanish flu). But once, one of these animal viruses mutates, and starts to transfer from animals to humans... then it’s a problem, Why? Because we have no natural or acquired immunity.. the RNA sequencing of the genes inside the virus isn’t human, and the human immune system doesn’t recognize it so, we can’t fight it off. Now.... sometimes, the mutation only allows transfer from animal to human, for years it’s only transmission is from an infected animal to a human before it finally mutates so that it can now transfer human to human... once that happens..we have a new contagion phase. And depending on the fashion of this new mutation, thats what decides how contagious, or how deadly it’s gonna be.. H1N1 was deadly....but it did not mutate in a way that was as deadly as the Spanish flu. It’s RNA was slower to mutate and it attacked its host differently, too. Fast forward. Now, here comes this Coronavirus... it existed in animals only, for nobody knows how long...but one day, at an animal market, in Wuhan China, in December 2019, it mutated and made the jump from animal to people. At first, only animals could give it to a person... But here is the scary part.... in just TWO WEEKS it mutated again and gained the ability to jump from human to human. Scientists call this quick ability, “slippery” This Coronavirus, not being in any form a “human” virus (whereas we would all have some natural or acquired immunity). Took off like a rocket. And this was because, Humans have no known immunity...doctors have no known medicines for it. And it just so happens that this particular mutated animal virus, changed itself in such a way the way that it causes great damage to human lungs.. That’s why Coronavirus is different from seasonal flu, or H1N1 or any other type of influenza.... this one is slippery AF. And it’s a lung eater...And, it’s already mutated AGAIN, so that we now have two strains to deal with, strain s, and strain L....which makes it twice as hard to develop a vaccine. We really have no tools in our shed, with this. History has shown that fast and immediate closings of public places has helped in the past pandemics. Philadelphia and Baltimore were reluctant to close events in 1918 and they were the hardest hit in the US during the Spanish Flu. Factoid: Henry VIII stayed in his room and allowed no one near him, till the Black Plague passed...(honestly...I understand him so much better now). Just like us, he had no tools in his shed, except social isolation... And let me end by saying....right now it’s hitting older folks harder... but this genome is so slippery...if it mutates again (and it will). Who is to say, what it will do next. Be smart folks... acting like you’re unafraid is so not needed right now.
  13. Was this the same Blackjack form Hartcliffe/Withywood area? (can't remember which exactly) who used to frequent the East End every home game in the late 60s/early 70s. I knew that one well until I left the area for a short while due to work during the 70s. I never knew that one as a gashead!!!
