  1. Aye, a replacement for Clarke. So you reckon the cheap internal appointment option? Agree he would be mad to take it, but also mad not to, bar an idiot of an owner they are a huge club and someone will turn them around at some point - if they can stay in the job more than a few months!
  2. If he gets it, all we will hear from the blue few is how they are "prowed" of him and not in any way gutted that he bailed at the first opportunity. Not too may viable replacements around right now.
  3. That alone should add a few pages to this topic. What a beauty that is.
  4. More Polo than Trebor Extra Strong though eh!
  5. One Forum In Bristol. www.ofib.co.uk
  6. Exactly that for me. Totally understand why some don't see what the fuss is all about but if you were around then, the rivalry was practically bred into you.
  7. You would think by appointing Roy Hodgson, the FA would at least be sympathetic to the sanctuary visit.
  8. Looks like a scene from The Walking Dead.
  9. Fair play, they nicked it, as you knew they would. Still, next season is a different story all together. I'm happy with the thought that they seek and celebrate to be in a league we desperately want to avoid.
  10. F me, the Post absolutely love him don't they. What a total non story that is.
  11. World class stadium eh? So what does that actually mean? You need something like 35-40k capacity to host a Europa League final, almost certainly double that for a Champions League final and the same again for International Tournament finals. Have a look at the technical requirements from FIFA to reach what you would call "world class". We are talking Wembley, Nou Camp, Allianz Area etc etc. Ah but hold on, they have a guy who helped balls up make Wembley, so that's where it must come from.
  12. Get in there SL. The Landsdown Harriers would need a state of the art athletics venue. Welcome to Bristol Sport.
  13. Not a word you want to be associated with a legal case. Particularly if your looking for the courts to side in your favour. Tight as an otters pocket my arse.
  14. That IMO is as close to a realistic plan B they are going to get.
  15. Ironically, Sainsbury's have quite a decent presence in Gas heartland. They'll all be going to Asda Longwell Green now then. Asda for kit sponsors next year anyone?
  16. The Gas I know are always harping on about being a traditional club with no aspiration to "sell out". I suppose that instantly falls to the wayside once the possibility of a large investment comes along. The reality is, if you want higher level football in a shiny new stadium, your going to need that investment.
  17. Nice one! Never a classy place by any means, but always welcoming. Have passed through there a few times on pub crawls/stags over the years since, although sadly they had stopped the Barmaids in Basques promotion - perhaps for the best, reading your post!
  18. I can remember it at its peak. 1000+ people queuing to get in as DJ Sasha was playing. Coincidentally, I was reading this article on the BBC about the Hacienda club in Manchester this morning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-33763972 As one bloke puts it in there: "Even at the time, you knew it was special, that you were part of something unique, and you knew it probably wasn't going to last forever."
  19. I used to work in the tower office block next door in the mid 90s. Every Tues or Wed lunchtime was Sexy Barmaids hour in which the 2 ladies behind the bar would work in stockings, suspenders and a basque. It was a total lottery though, one week the ladies were in their 20's, next week they could be 40+.
  20. It had to be seen. They could of at least gone with Piggs not Higgs though.
  21. http://www.bathchronicle.co.uk/Bristol-Rovers-Football-Club-embarrassing-tweet/story-27551752-detail/story.html
  22. That was just the opinion of the Sainsbury's lawyer - he would say that wouldn't he.
  23. High stakes game they are playing. No payout, no stadium = no future. I say this as objectively as I can, their chairman is full of shit. Not for the first time Rover's supporters have been lead a merry dance with regards to a stadium and finances is it?
  24. Someone should of asked "what will the financial state of the club be if the appeal is lost?". Last roll of the dice i reckon, they are going for broke.
  25. Oh its a war memorial again now! Not sure people/businesses invest in war memorials - not a lot of commercial return there. Certainly not our own SL. So much wrong in that post.....can't be arsed to pick the rest of it apart. Deluded once again and still no idea whatsoever on how a business runs.
