I'll never forget this night. One of the most memorable England games in my lifetime.
We beat them 1-0 in the Euros with Hoddle but this one was truely cathartic.

Anyone reading this see similarities?
Indeed.
I liked this bit in particular...
Getting out on the grass and empowering the people you already have by getting them in touch with their emotions (passion and desire mainly). By all means, start executing on your big plans around infrastructure. But on the football side, the emphasis should be as much on what you remove as what you add. Eliminate all the headaches that have plagued previous managers and see what the baseline is. Find out what the Birmingham you inherited was capable of when managed properly.

I think they would sell him, but at their price, not ours.
If we don’t come up with it, he stays at Hull.
I cannot see why they would cancel the loan if we won’t pay what they want & if we do he’s here permanently, surely?
That’s my confusion with your point.
My hunch with TGH as the board were keeping things very tight financially for Pearson so he got £700k for the loan but no guarantee of anything else.
Maybe we needed convincing that he was worth £2m?
Seems that the narrative of the budget being used up is no longer strictly the case.
Thanks for clarifying and i agree in the main with your points.
I suppose what i'm saying is, if they think they can get rid on a perm deal they will and that would be the reason for a recall and potentially sending him back out.
I don't think anyone will pay £5m for him and that's the sticking point. Do we have a budget for a transfer like that today, i don't think we do. We have some more funds but not to that level. I do think we will be better placed to make a more costly signing(s) in the summer once wages have been freed up.

1. He’s already on loan somewhere else. Why would Burnley recall him?
2. How could it be “a loan to buy” as we think the £5m fee being reported is far too much & clearly won’t pay it? We would only bring him here in those circumstances if like TGH, there is an agreed fee, which if it was the case would suggest a permanent deal could be done now, so no need for a loan.
1. So they could sell him. As far as i know he is only on loan to Hull with no agreed price to buy in the summer.
2. Is it not possible to negotiate a better price then and have a TGH deal in place or is the press talk of £5m gospel and set in stone? By your logic of "if there is an agreed fee then we could buy him now, no need for a loan", then why didn't we do that with TGH in the summer? Perhaps we might have more cash available this summer when several of our senior players are out of contract than we do now.
You might not agree but it's hardly confusing.

Why confused @GrahamC?
It made sense to me but then i haven't long woken up!

Would a loan with option to buy be possible? Either way, the price is currently to high for us surely. The only way i could see the price coming down a bit is if Burnley go down but then they might choose to keep him.

I wonder if Jonathan Pearce will get our game?
I think he has said previously he wouldn't want to do it as his loyalties are too strong. Would be good though, i do like JP.

I know of a non season ticket holder who was able to buy 12, who tbf , thinks the club should cancel all tickets sold and start again.
It's a right mess but that sounds like a reasonable thing to do considering.
There will have almost certainly been some scalpers buying them up.

Christ they are even speculating on how much they will make from the 3 games. Away and home to Norwich, plus Liverpool away inc TV rights=£1m in the bank apparently. The Liverpool game is being compared to the same numbers they would make from a L1 play off final.
Absolutley deluded and utterly desperate for this to happen.
I bet Maidstone aren't getting that carried away and they are actually in the 4th round with a nice away trip waiting for them.

I know maths , along with many other things , isn't their strong point. But since when has 15% of 61,000 been 15,000 ?
Norwich would only be allocated around 9k but you know, Rovers are so loved by these big sides that Liverpool will happily allow them up to 30%.
Some of the comments on their forum are hillarious. One exiled fan is looking at booking flights back to the UK, whilst another already has his travel itinerary up and is asking for decent pubs near the ground!
I hope Norwich give them a right spanking. I don't recall us getting erections when we had the same fixture in waiting if we had beaten Shrewsbury a few years back.
We all like to dream of a big draw, they just wet dream

Not to be picky but maybe watch it again....seems like he lets it run behind him and back heels it ... great tech and then a fantastic first time ball from Joe, not easy to hit first time
Yeh man, it's a quality goal, from Knights sweet touch to Williams insta-through ball then Tommys 1st touch and finish. They'll be replaying that one a few times on the way home.

Good cup tie and well worth the replay.
Max MOM keeping us in it. Delighted for those of you that travelled, particularly those that went by train. Great support

Given the opposition I think we've done ok. Can't go 2-0 I think we will get a chance or 2 if we can stay in it.

Post now running a live blog, don't know how accurate or up to date the info will be but might help...

should have travelled last night like I did - people knew the trains were going to be a problem today. I have no sympathy
Classy.
Seeing as GWR themselves said yesterday they would running. No need for those sort of comments to fellow supporters.

Exactly Free Speech is what it is you have your say I have mine. And if I don’t like what you say I have right of reply and so do you. This is how it works and continues to work.
Free speech can get harder when people want to make someone that doesn’t agree with them the bad guy.
That’s been turned into an art form in the USA.
But I have big shoulders. Big enough for a football forum.
FOR THE RECORD.
I LIKE THE EX PLAYERS FORUM AND I DON’T CARE IF SOME PEOPLE THINK MY OPINION IS NOT POPULAR OR DISAGREE.
Hope that’s clear. Now excuse me as me myself and I grapple with upsetting other people! And having a continued life!!
FWIW i don't think you or anyone else of the same opinion is a bad guy here. A difference of opinion is fine. It was suggested, tried and now being discussed as to if it should stay, that's all healthy without sides having to be formed about it. I'm not and i don't think anyone else is particularly upset about this.
