  1. I came back to view the forum because some friends told me Simpson was released and I was interested in the responses.

I'm not supporting the club because they have shown that they will sign players who are violent towards women while footballers. This manager. This ownership group.  Until those both change or a statement of some kind happens where they announce they will no longer do so, then I cannot give them my time or energy.

If someone does it before they're a pro/really young, that's one thing, but I think entertainers should lose their privileges to entertain when they do something so heinous as an active entertainer. I won't listen to Chris Brown's music or watch Roman Polansky films.  My line for stopping supporting the club was employing footballers who displayed violence towards women. Maybe you don't have a line, that's fine. Your choice. Maybe it's just a different line to mine? Would you still cheer on Luke McCormick? Lee Hughes? Adam Johnson? Is there ANYTHING the club could do to get you to stop supporting them?

I'm not looking for debate, just saying why I won't return to supporting the club for the foreseeable future and probably ever.

Who cares about me? Well some people do enough to accuse other people of being me... so hopefully you'll judge them on their own actions rather than mine. I'm sure there have been posters who get banned and return, or have multiple accounts, I'm not one of them. I just don't follow City anymore. If I change my mind I'll post on this account.

Just tagging you three because you've recently mentioned me.

Great start this afternoon at home to Brighton, just taken the lead in the second minute

34% possession, 1 shot on target, 1 goal, just like the mens team!

Don't understand why they play at the same time as us, that must cut down their potential views and interest even more. Why not at 1PM?

The game was meant to be played at Twerton Park and the pics are of Twerton Park.. Unless I've seen a different article?

Today's football match between Chelsea Women and Bristol City today has been cancelled due to snow.

As heavy snowfall came down all over the South West, the game has been postponed.

In a tweet shared by the Bristol City Women's Football Club they said the pitch was "unplayable".

They wrote: "Following a pitch inspection this morning, Bristol City Women can confirm that this afternoon’s BarclaysFAWSL fixture against Chelsea FCW has been postponed. A heavy downpour of snow in the South West has seen the Twerton Park pitch deemed unplayable by officials."

  4. Oof!

Russell comes out with a alot of credit. Perez too of course.

Yeah just piles pressure on Bottas. While I dohope Lewis Hamilton is safe and well, it's more interesting with Russell driving there..

Do away with these pretend satellite teams and just have 4+ works cars with different paint jobs and sponsors please. the more drivers with a real chance to win the better.

  5. I think pre 2010 Schumacher is great because he regularly trashed his team mates and performed even better when the rain came. He has the DQ year, and when he broke his leg he was even with Irvine IIRC as the only failures in the standing IMO.

I'm not so high on Hamilton because of the losses to Button and Rosberg even though the Rosberg title was filled with reliability issues admittedly.

So if Schumacher continually trashed Barichello, who was close to Button, who beat Hamilton or was close, then that puts Schumacher ahead for me. Plus and this isn't Hamilton's fault, I got to see Schumacher in a worse car more often so he had the opportunity to out perform his team mates by more. Having two drivers 1st and 2nd looks different to 3rd and 10th as memories fade of actual performances.

Bottas has wins over Massa at Williams. Who Schumacher also beat up on. Russell in qualifying is definitely making Bottas look bad though. Bottas needs to dominate in the race (assuming nothing weird happens) or questions about how good he is will heighten dramatically. If you're Lewis Hamilton, you either want Bottas to as well, because if you have the best car and your team mate doesn't look so good, it takes away some of your achievement too, or you want Russell to turn out to be a superstar (after you beat him and retire).

Anyway, this mix up, brings in a tonnes of fun story lines and intrigue to the race, which with the titles over, I wasn't that interested in.

My wife works in that area (domestic violence) - there are 1001 issues connected to your question. It's not often as simple as it might be for you and I to just walk away for many of these women.

Yeah, whenever someone automatically thinks it's easy to walk away, or that it's always all about money that's an instant flag they've never truly encountered this in their life.

  7. I don't think it's even relevant to discuss games vs the top teams in our league, or games against lower league teams.

Literally the only games that are important are the ones vs the other teams in the mini league at the bottom of the table.

There's a 1 game sample size of this. A 0-4 drubbing at home.

Yeah, we're rock bottom so far, but it's gonna be all about the 6 pointers with the other 4 winless teams. Just got to survive again this season.

They way this league is, do you think there should be a Scottish league style split? So that there are more competitive games in the season?

Caus despite the scoreline, the stats say this wasn't really a game.

  9. Yep great to have him under contract under 2023

His mistake led to the free kick, and him not closing down quickly (along with others) allowed Freeman to shoot.

Doing great, but he's a young player who is going to make young player mistakes. It'll be very interesting to see how he and we do against the top teams in the league.

  10. Are they prepared to go down to fix the rot at the club? We weren't when we appointed O'Driscoll. And O'Driscoll had for years played good football while getting the most of of clubs with less budget.

I mean I'm all for them destroying themselves for this guy, but it's so weird what they're doing with a "manager" who's done nothing to suggest he knows anything. Would't you back either of our assistants (Downing and Simpson) over Ben Garner?

    Ben Dover's Bristol Rovers 2020

    4 MORE YEARS!

  11. As a key worker (I speak for myself not others.. but just for context) I think I'd rather have the elderly, disabled and people made unemployed by COVID prioritised. A lot of them have had all their social activities removed by the lock down and loneliness and depression etc can be a massive killer. Getting those people into the outdoors, around other people (safely distanced) and into an activity they can enjoy themselves in (well its city) would be my preference.  Maybe I've been endangered more by having to work during this period, but losing my job and having no social contact would be worse for me. So I'd like those vulnerable folks prioritised first over myself.

  12. Well they're improving, they sold the focal point of their team and main source of goals for more than £300,000!

Except Mark Little I genuinely don't know who their players are. I remember Ed Upson played for Yeovil, but I also thought he was Matt's younger brother which isn't true!

Got to remember professional sport is only being allowed to return under strict circumstances as it is. Have to wonder whether twice weekly testing will continue when amateur sport is allowed to return though.

It's the sanity of the rules and the degree of acceptable risk.

It's more dangerous to have the fans than not. So if it's really about safety then you just don't have them.

This potential code is about money and the PR of safety, not actual safety.

  14. Hopefully this means no Robins TV commentary as that surely increases the potential droplets.

I recommend using the stands as quarantine zones. Children and families in a children's and families enclosure as children are mixing anyway so their parents are all high risk.

Singing section for people who agree to put themselves at that risk.

Dolman moaners section for people who agree only to moan and not sing or clap.

Isolated corporate boxes for the elderly/high risk people.

At some point this becomes silly.

Like can we shout if we wear a mask? Can we speak at the ground? Can we cheer? Having a steward come over and throw you out would endanger them and you.

I have no idea why this would be the case.

Look at Sheffield, two clubs and United are doing very well.

Actually are there any other 2 club cities apart from us, Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool? Good quiz question here.

Usually phrased as "How many English league derbies?".

Straight in with the hard one: Port Vale vs Sjoke.

    Only missing Birmingham here.

And Nottingham should be if County weren't run atrociously in years past. County 3rd in the national league atm.

I will repeat my question from yesterday again, are you sure the AVERAGE figure of 17000 deaths is correct? For seasonal flu to have a fatality rate of 0.1% that would mean 17 MILLION people getting the flu in the UK each year? Roughly 1 in 4 people.

    That sounds way too high.
