  1. Oh how I'd like to be able to say hi to Cotts and thank him for that season. Enjoy.
  2. My step-father used to be Hailsham Town's Treasurer so I'd go to a few games. A day out there was always a blast where it is my mates keeping me going to City right now.
  3. That's a good point actually, I'll bring it forward a week
  4. Precisely what I am doing. Last day renewal.
  5. Was the football perhaps more entertaining though? That feels important to me.
  6. Can't tell you the amount of times sat there this season where I've daydreamt about sitting in the City bar for the second half.
  7. I'd say this is pretty accurate to how things will play out.
  8. I'll be buying mine last minute.com
  9. I got heat for saying I'd renew a few days back but I will be. The only reason is that I have friends I go/sit with and more I see after the game. Football is a valued part of my social life (even though the game itself offers almost nothing of late). I'm not sure i would otherwise, instead opting for a membership. The difference now, is that I'll rarely be declining invites for other things this coming season, should they clash with a game. In the past the match would come first.
  10. Nice spot. Such a great book. One I read years ago and the name - with slight spelling adjustment - stuck.
  11. Nice to see prices rise for a worsening experience. I'll moan but renew, if mostly for the friends that I know who attend.
  12. I didn't say any of that. I agree with with you but thought the post I responded to referred to only how to improve communications. All good. Full respect to all.
  13. Also we are judging comms ability here, nothing else.
  14. Crucially, the football is boring. This is not good. I was away on Mother's Day duty yesterday and not at all bothered. Been going since 1989.
  15. Funnily enough, I'm in Wales visiting my Mum for Mother's Day, a mate who sits next to me has gone down with Covid and another mate, so disheartened at the moment was debating not going, so that's 0 out of 3 of us attending.
  16. 'There's a real good feeling in the stadium' Bloody hell. He's having a laugh. Seeing Williams saying sorry at the end of the last home match but being met with a lot of fans waiting to tell him and others to '**** off' was indicative of the 'good feeling' in the ground.
  17. Mark Gavin and Dave Smith going at defenses either side of the pitch. Nothing more exciting.
  18. I saw Fam taking photos after the game, near the City bar, with young fans, for some time. Always had time for him. To boo would be lame imo.
  19. It all boils down to one thing for me. I am utterly bored at Ashton Gate these days. The football really is total, unentertaining rubbish. I've many other, more complex feelings about the club and it's stagnation but this is my main takeaway. If it wasn't for the great friends that I meet up with each week - and we've managed to have a good afternoon despite City's best efforts - I'd be doubtful to attend. I had complex feelings booing Manning and the players on their walkabout at full time but I had to go through with it because the club needs to know how I feel. While you can't blame the players for being asked to play a certain way, I nevertheless, counted 3 occasions where players lost the ball and just gave up with a sigh. It's not acceptable and well might Williams apologise on behalf of the squad.
  20. Clearly not the point I made but crack on I guess
  21. I think they did this once, if memory serves. It might have been one poor coat though as its definitely faded now. The back of the Dolman still looks fresh.
  22. The steel work above all stands bar the Dolman is dirty and needs a wash and a paint job. I never understand why it doesn't get done every summer. And the ground level panelling around the outside of the Lansdown is poor also, featuring areas where you can see they've scoured off marks etc. Inside the ground Ashton Gate looks impressive, outside, you see how a still impressive stadium upgrade can be done on the relative cheap in comparison with something like Spurs'new stadium. I take pride in our ground. It does matter.
  23. Quick post here, a service message that hopefully may help. As a slim, pretty fit late 40-something I nevertheless found out that I have high cholesterol and am prediabetic a week ago. Now I knew my diet wasn't good but never imagined I'd be told this via a blood test. Things should be totally reversible - hopefully just through overhauling what I eat/drink which I have already done like a man possessed - but the point of this post is if you are not sure you're eating well and you are a similar age, it couldn't hurt to get a blood test. It's actually never too early to think about these things but you really want to avoid developing Type-2 diabetes and if you are middle aged it's important as you don't want to increase your risk of heart disease or stroke. That was it really.
  24. It's always worth going up at any time. I hardly think most of us would expect to stay up if we did get promoted this season, however you take the funds and run, planning to invest 2 seasons from now, with the parachute payments. If by some miracle you hang on the following season then you build in the summer and try to cement your place.
