  1. I remember when we played Brighton when they thought they were going to win the league they did this and thought it was a far classier way of doing it then some muted minutes applause every few games

Think Brighton did theirs pre match as well so it didn’t feel rushed

Respect to those who live locally and this is by no means a competition or remark on other fans, I’m a Bristolian from birth but haven’t lived there for a good 20 odd years and unlikely to ever move back. That said I am a season ticket holder of over 30 years yet feel frustrated in many aspects.

Well I guess to start with, it costs probably £100 a home game without season ticket, so every game is an away game, six hour round trip, yet you don’t feel you get plaudits for that or recognition, believe me it ruins your Saturday more than a 20 min drive home (I’ve done both and for sure it hurts more as you sit on the journey mulling it over and get home late!).

You get the odd ‘home’ game in London fair enough, but you still pay for your match ticket and travel!

You can’t even listen to City on Radio Bristol without paying! Because you are a city fan who doesn’t live in the area….I mean how unfair is that?! So if you can’t make a game as an exile you are essentially out of pocket either way. A local fan who cannot make it can pass the time by switching on local radio.

Basically I think us exiled fans deserve a form of loyalty! Now whether that’s loyalty points for distance travelled overall, discount off merchandise, or a free home shirt, but minimum allow exiled ST holders free radio commentary coverage!

I could easily get a season ticket at Arsenal tomorrow or West Ham. But they aren’t my club, City are, however I probably spend more than a season ticket at both those clubs combined to watch Champ football at AG. So, what can be done to encourage that and commend those supporters (many I know on here) who commit huge amounts of time and money to get to home games, plus the fact travel away most weeks too. Interesting debate, appreciate life is about choices, but some are enforced too and one thing we cannot lose is our first love - our football club!

Whilst i feel your pain I’m not sure there’s any realistic way to reward fans for travelling a long distance to attend home game, the only thing they could realistically do is to offer a flexible season ticket or a Saturday only season ticket and make it for a section of the ground rather than a specific seat and offer the same benefits of a full season ticket

As for away games, there is a lot the club could do. Ranging from an away season ticket where you’re guaranteed a ticket for every away game to a points system where the unpopular games like Blackburn away on a Tuesday night get more points than a Saturday trip to QPR and then if a ‘glamour’ game comes along it’s those with the highest number of points who get first chance of getting a ticket

I'm up there for a long weekend. How does it affect trains when we are up there. I was hoping to go to Edinburgh on Friday or Sunday, not sure which operator that is? Also is the Metro likely to be affected? Anyone have any knowledge or info please?

Lumo operate between London Newcastle and Edinburgh and are open access so not involved in industrial action

  4. In fairness there’s threads have appeared this time of the season for the last few years and most end up doing so because of a fear of missing out should we finally get our act together

Maybe the new tv deal will have an effect and whilst I’d like to think the club might be creative and offer flexible season tickets i doubt they will

I won’t be renewing more due to personal circumstances, work commitments meaning I’ve missed more games than I’ve attended and the 3 hour each way journey just to be bored like i was yesterday

I really don’t get why Tinnion gets all this bad press. What’s he said or done to deserve all the grief he’s getting?

Can anyone explain why he’s the number one fall guy?

The current situation seems to have been of his making, starting with getting rid of Pearson and being responsible for his replacement

Has very clearly been over promoted and has the ear of the chairman which is a potentially dangerous combination

I don’t understand why it’s sadly down to set ups, that’s part of the formula, there are other races where all the cars are the same, but that’s not the point of F1.

5 years ago, very similar result in domination and times, different manufacturer and Drivers.  I didn’t hear too many moaning back then.

Five years ago whilst Lewis was winning a lot he at least had competition either from his teammate or from Vettel at Ferrari who was relatively strong at the time until their car was found to be illegal.

Most of last season and on Saturday the race was effectively over by the first corner

Currently the most interesting thing is the behind the scenes drama at Red Bull and who is trying to get Horner out, currently rumoured to be Verstappen senior

  7. I think this whole Manning thing has got a little out of hand. And me deciding not to renew isn’t anything to do with him

It’s a combination of losing the feeling of FOMO since Nige has been sacked and the fact that coming from East London relying on trains through strikes and unreliability makes another year of doing that not very appealing

So will probably go for membership next season

Poor show from the clubs and the EFL here.

So unless I’m misreading it the club basically lied with its initial communications to place the blame on the police rather than not bothering to tell anyone until less than 3 weeks before the game

Can we therefore assume waiting for tv games are announced was an attempt to shift the blame onto sky?

Sounds like Karen has been doing something he shouldn't have. "Inappropriate behaviour"...

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all part of an attempt to force him out, rumours of a power struggle behind the scenes since the owner passed away between Horner and Marko

Maybe they need to be careful what they wish for

I’m sure I bring this up every time Escape To Victory is mentioned, but as I understand it John Warks accent was so bad they dubbed him in the final cut, and Stallone was such an arsehole that he genuinely fancied himself as a keeper so bet Pele - Pele! - that he couldn’t score six spot kicks past him. He got near to one and dislocated his finger.

And the overhead kick - one take.

I found this from an Ipswich podcast online. Talks about his career (mostly about Ipswich for obvious reasons) but also covers that movie and his time with us (safe to say he didn’t think much of Denis Smith) i didn’t realise he stayed in the area for around 30 years

  11. Other than them going into towards section 82 and having tinnions son with them (no idea how that was relevant) it was no different to others events they’ve done since starting the former players such as the stars of the 60’s one

I see it more as reconnecting with the past which is long overdue rather than celebrating a good result 30 years ago

Jesus Christ yesterday I tapped my bank card once for the barriers to open as didn’t have a London travel ticket, once in Liverpool Street, from Paddington rest of the time the barriers were up, got charged £15.50 looking at my bank, caaaaaants

If you log into https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/contactless-and-oyster-account and create an account and add your bank card you may be able to manually enter leaving the system at Stratford and get a partial refund. Has worked for me in the past

It's interesting reading the comments under the BBC match reports. A lot of hammers fans  clearly hating Moyes. Seems crazy a European trophy last 16 of UEFA and 6th in the Prem. Not sure what more they want/expect - presumably about the quality of football?

The mythical ‘West Ham Way’ they spouted when Allardyce was in charge. Problem is when they have a more expansive manager they look like going down

Total crowd of around 62k. There is probably going to be about 1.5-2k affected.

I can't see it being delayed. Just a lot of people missing most of the first half.

Went to London Stadium in the summer for MLB. I reckon it'll take around 30 mins from the Elizabeth line stop at Stratford to walk to the ground.

Very busy shopping centre there as well.

A tip from a local, get the dlr from Stratford to pudding mill lane

Its the closest station to the away end, a 5-10 minute walk max
