Not every manager works at every club. Brian Clough was a disaster at Leeds, Unai Emery has done well in every job except Arsenal, Steve Cotterill is far less popular with Forest and Birmingham fans than us. Neil Warnock did well at Crystal Palace and QPR then badly at Leeds and back at Palace then well at Rotherham and Cardiff. Pearson was great at Leicester than a disaster at Derby. Valentin Ismael got a Barnsley team to the play offs but could not do so with a theoretically stronger West Brom team. Moyes has done well at Preston, Everton and West Ham but struggled at other clubs.

Not every manager job is in any sense the same and few managers would succeed at every club.

    Fair enough

That doesn’t in any way imply Edwards would have achieved the same thing had he stayed at Watford though. Not every manager is the right fit at every club. A manager could easily go onto have a successful career elsewhere but it still have been the right decision to sack him where he was.

A club that plays football matches with eleven players on the pitch at any one time?

What other sort of fit is there?

It's the last 6 which is worrying me:

    LLLLWL

And I fear we could be crucified on Good Friday.

At least there might be a chance of a Resurrection Easter Monday.

Well, you've started the Easter puns so all we need to do in the next game is put more crosses in.

I was no big fan of LJ & get the David Brent comparison, but it wasn’t robotic or monotone.

I didn’t always agree with what he said, but appreciated it wasn’t the same inanity repeated time & time again.

Things are so bad we are starting to sigh nostalgically at the thought of LJ.

  5. LM is someone who is trying to apply the science of football management.

Someone like Warnock knows the art of football management

You probably need a bit of both, but the art comes first as sport is ultimately a human activity. Otherwise you bore the hell out of people.

One of the few moments in the game we actually got to see anyone run at the Swansea defence whilst in some space. They executed the plan whilst not following the principals.

    Certainly not the behaviours either

  7. I've never known a leader who focuses only on theory, concepts and soundbites who has been successful.

What LM lacks is charisma, gravitas and authority and he can't be 'helped' with those.

All the great managers and coaches possess those qualities to motivate and drive the squad.

Rovers Reserves played at the old FGR ground for a season or two but I don't think they ever used it for a first team game.

Imagine having as your claim to fame that you played for Bristol Rovers reserves
