  1. Thought he was a yard off it defensively yesterday as the 50/50s were going in but second half he was much better when we had to retain the ball and cleverly won some free kicks late on. The ball to Semenyo in the first half was superb too.
  2. Think a lot of strikers in the championship would be happy with 13 goals a season in a tough league when playing up top on their own. All strikers miss chances, if Afobe misses the chances Fam has I just dont think he would get anywhere near the same type of abuse that Fam has got - if any at all. He is going to be so important to our team this season, hes a real asset for us. His attitude is great and he is a nuisance even if his touch isnt the best. Get behind him - he is going to win us plenty of points this year.
  3. From what I remember is he punctured his lung and hasnt been the same since. For cover and not too excruciating wages - sure but not too hyped for him to play against small pacey forwards.
  4. No way near the player he was. Underwhelming to say the least.
  5. Guaranteed he gets dropped now. Atleast he tried and ran more than the whole midfield combined.
  6. Baker and Wright aren't consistent top six quality and asking Vyner/Moore to step in to that is risky. Our starting eleven hasnt improved at all with the loss of Webster, the year on year improvements of players like JDS, Eliasson, Brownhill and Palmer may help but having a stable spine up the pitch is massive in a team pushing for promotion and we certainly need to fix that sharpish.
  7. Still worse off than last year with Webster going. The CB and ST signings are pivotal for us, really need to make a statement.
  8. I might be the only person who doesn't rate Smith as highly as everyone on here - just a precursor. Good defensive habits and retrieving the ball but just dont see what he brings apart from that. His passes are simple to the fullback the majority of the time and rarely positive. He doesn't win nearly enough aerial battles to be considered an all round defensive midfielder hence Pack has to be in next to him (and hes not nearly consistent enough defensively) Think we shoot ourselves in the foot having both of these two in the midfield two. This is why he has to play more attacking midfield players to pick the ball up and be more positive from deeper when you actually want your Patersons/Eliassons etc further up the pitch and not running into blind alleys losing the ball. I swear he rarely ever runs forward in a straight line at the goal and it's always a passive diagonal run with a simple pass, dont get me wrong I love his attitude and work-rate for the side but just feel like he needs to add a different dimension to his distribution or carrying the ball positively to really make much of an impact. Oh dear I'm gunna get flak for this.
  9. Somehow in games he bounces off players and looks like hes untouchable and then in the same game gets brushed aside like a paper bag. See his qualities but would rather spend that money on a proper forward to play alongside Fam or challenge him. Swear every year we have the same conversation and they dont pull the trigger on the striker that we need to get over the line. The team is the same as last year with a bit more depth. Taylor and Weimann are no way consistent enough in front of goal to lead our line and I dont think Palmer brings anything that can see us get into the top six.
  10. I'm worried he might be our only striker target as I think we need something a bit more up the top of the pitch. Hes been linked every window almost so could see us getting this one over the line and then into the season with Fam, Weimann, Taylor, Semenyo and Moore as our striker options.
  11. Hopefully takes Eliassons role of next season of in and out and keeping the other wide boys on their toes if COD goes. Hes different to the other wingers we have and I think he could work well with Eliasson on one side and him on another causing full backs problems. Big season for this guy, real direct wingers are hard to come by and I think he will make the step up gradually.
  12. He's usually first to come over and clap us most away games. Think he can get a move to a side with bigger wages personally. Wait and see shall we!
  13. Get what we deserve for not buying a proper striker and central midfielder who could make the difference, especially at home. It was all in our hands and now it's all but gone, but who's shocked? We are Bristol City. Nothing is ever easy.
