  1. It’s good business. We get a very talented player that will improve us. He would have required compensation in the summer anyway. This way we beat the queue of competitors. Am I right in thinking he was once linked to Chelsea for around £8m?
  2. Hull don’t have an option to buy Fabio Carvalho or Liam Delap, but I don’t see their fans moaning. They know that their loan signings improve them, even if it is only temporarily. Ask yourselves a simple question… Does Scott Twine improve us? The answer is yes. Of course we all would have hoped for a permanent deal, but we’ve managed to bring him in regardless, and that seems like a great signing to me. Nottingham Forest got into the play-offs after securing Keinan Davis and Djed Spence on loan. They didn’t end up signing either permanently, but progressed as a club. We are a few points off the play-offs and have signed a player which has improved the squad. Let’s take the positives for once.
  3. So disappointed with the club! Will always appreciate Nige’s commitment to the club, and the job that he did. He set the foundations with limited resources. Just imagine what he could have done with some backing. This feels like it could become very toxic between fans and board.
  4. Great news, We have 2 fantastic options in Pring and Roberts. Let’s hope Conway, Bell and Vyner are to follow.
  5. A couple of West Brom fans on twitter, plus Darren Witcoop (Sunday Mirror) seem to think this could be a permanent move. I like deals like this. Has shown potential, and still has time to improve further. Sensible business.
  6. Thought I would bump this one back up. IF Nige has money to spend, what do we need?
  7. Nige knows what he’s doing. He’s sending a direct message to the board. Nige is very clever in the way in which he uses the media/journalists. He’s already got us talking about how frustrated he seems. I mentioned the other day about how we shouldn’t believe everything that he says to the press. Within a matter of days we have lost our key striker through injury, and have now agreed to sell our best player. Nige will ensure that the message gets out about needing to spend money, and that the fans back him.
  8. BOURNEMOUTH - Italian midfielder has failed his medical and the deal is now OFF!
  9. Ignoring Nige’s comments to the press this week regarding wage budget (don’t believe everything he tells the press), it’s a possibility that the following could happen: We know that the offer to Kalas has been on the table throughout the summer, and I would expect our offer was around the £15k a week mark. Therefore you would assume this money (wages) would be available for 1/2 further incomings. Especially if no fee is involved. Craig Cathcart (worked with Nige at Watford), Cieran Clark and Daniel Ayala are all still available as free agents.
  10. Take what Nige says to the media with a pinch of salt. He previously stated that we wouldn’t be making million pound signings, and then McCrorie and Knight walk in through the door. His ‘sound of the city’ interview was very much aimed towards making a statement to clubs interested in Scott. He also can’t publicly state “we will have money to spend” because selling clubs will raise their price for any players we may wish to sign.
  11. Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the ideal situation for us. A sell-on fee % is based on any PROFIT of any transfer fee. A relegation would limit the likelihood of profit being made. We need to ensure that this deal is the best possible, not only for the immediate finances, but to also insure that we are benefiting in the future too. 12. Rudoni is certainly one that we should be after. Possesses many similar attributes to Scott, and perhaps hasn’t received the plaudits yet because he has been playing in a very poor Huddersfield team. As you mention, he is one we should have tried for last year.
  13. Linked with Aberdeen earlier today. Stoke had been interested before signing Ben Pearson.
  14. I’m interested to see if we try our luck to secure championship players on reduced fees whose contracts are expiring in 2024. Chris Willock - QPR Tyrhys Dolan - Blackburn Alex Mowatt - West Brom Jake Cooper - Millwall (out of reach?) Sam Field - QPR Ben Wiles - Rotherham Are all players whose contracts expire at the end of the season. How many would be attainable is a different question all together.
  15. I really like the look of Araoye at Centre Back. He looks to have increased in muscle since last season. In regards to midfield, there will be many options. Collins is a player i appreciated, as was slightly shocked to see him go to Peterborough, as I felt he could make the step up to the championship. I quite like the idea of having another player similar to Knight in midfield. The energy to press the opposition, whilst having a player like James sitting as the ‘6’, could be an interesting dynamic.
  16. As we face the reality of losing the outstanding Alex Scott, I’m keen to get an insight into what everyone feels is required during the rest of the transfer window. The squad looks strong, but we our set to lose a vital piece of the puzzle. Personally, I can see at least 3 of the following: - GK: competition is required for Max. - CB: One additional is required. If Naismith’s absence is injury related, then it’s vital that we have an additional Left Centre Back available within the squad. Still unsure if this will be an academy graduate. - CM: I can see us going down the more creative route (Attacking midfielder). Someone that could potentially interchange with Mehmeti. I believe that Khadra is still a possibility. - ST: Goals. Simple as that. Conway is set for a big season, and Wells has the experience required. But Cornick seems more effective out wide (*opinion), which makes me believe we will try to secure some additional firepower. Interested to see what everyone else thinks…
  17. It’s worth highlighting just how strong a position we could find ourselves in this summer: - 2 academy graduates (Semenyo included) will have left for pure profit. Around £30m+ generated, if rumours are correct. - The last of the high earners from the previous regime have either left, or re-negotiated for a lower wage. - The bulk of our transfer activity completed. Depth and quality added to key areas. - The Semenyo sale alone covered the costs of 6 incoming players (Mehmeti, Cornick, Roberts, Dickie, McCrorie and Knight). - The opportunity to add further in additional positions with the latest incoming funds. Huge credit to the work that goes on behind the scenes from all involved at the HPC. The infrastructure we now have in place at the club is outstanding.
  18. I thought he did relatively well during his loan spell at Swansea last season. However, I’m unsure if he improves us, largely because he was in a possession based team last season. Whereas we are much more dangerous as a counter-attacking side. Personally, I think Nige may make a move for Khadra again.
  19. Bit of an odd perspective. I suppose you’re choosing to ignore the fact that the Semenyo sale has funded the signings of Mehmeti, Cornick, McCrorie, Dickie, Knight and Roberts (no fee).
  20. I think we accept that he is going to move on in the next 2 weeks (likely sooner). What a fantastic talent he is, and we will always be able to say that we have him the platform, in which he excelled. Wolves and Bournemouth (at least) are now going head-to-head for his signature. It’s now extremely likely that our asking price will be met. Nige said a plan is in place for his departure, now let’s see how the squad shapes up at the end of the window. We still have an incredible amount to be positive about within the club, including some fantastic young talent.
  21. With the way the squad currently looks, we have depth in most areas. Through the money received for Scott, you would hope to add a couple of players with real quality where it matters. I wouldn’t be surprised to see A GK, CM and ST (competition for Conway) arrive. One final CB is already a possibility due to Kalas, but it could yet be an academy graduate who is promoted to the 1st team. Callum Wood, Jamie knight-lebel and Raphael araoye are all appreciated by Nige.
  22. I’m interested to see if Marlee Francois gets any minutes today. Both he and Palmer-Houlden seem the next in line to step up. Haven’t seen any mention of Elijah Morrison for a while. Did he travel to Austria for training camp?
  23. Without pressure of needing to name any names, have you heard any whispers of how the club plan to re-invest some of the money we receive?
