  1. Lez, mate. Get some sleep. See you in the morning. .....
  2. Their crowds are shite, that's one reason why. 12k last season. And last two seasons they have been promoted to the Prem they have only averaged 17k. They are not a big club.
  3. I think "coloured" denotes more ignorant times, and was a term white folks used to describe black folks. It was a way of saying black people were tainted, or stained almost, in some way. Not quite right/as pure as us white folks. Like yer sheets not being whiter than white. "People of colour" came after, I believe, from the US, and was deemed more respectful for a time, but was actually in the Oxford English dictionary in the late 1700s (so, probably a bit dodgy originally), and not without controversy now (yes, it's a minefield). I don't believe it is universally popular with black peopl
  4. Disagree. Lee is 39, he could be back here in ten or fifteen years, when Jon is owner and Steve is, er, ......
  5. Ok, but if you want to include West Brom then it is important to add that it was a cup game, against a Premier League side. Not a priority, in other words (ie Wilbs started, Kodjia on the bench; Little instead of Ayling, Max instead of Richard O'Donnell etc). What is interesting in looking back at that short period between Cotts going and Lee starting is how Pemberton was able to instantly transform our defence and give us a base upon which to build. As we remember he swept away Cotts' 3-5-2 thing and employed a basic 4-4-2. And in those 4 league games, we conceded 1 goal
  6. Let's get this right. Cotts last game was Preston, 1:2. Pemberton then had four games: Middlesbrough 1:0 Leeds away 0:1 Birmingham 0:0 Charlton away 1:0. Two wins and a draw, in four games. Lee took over after Charlton and his first game was Ipswich.
  7. Lee has a chance now of being in the Europa League by 2021, which is where he saw himself when asked in 2016 (assuming he takes up the/one of the Prem jobs he could've taken)
  8. Yes, instead of gestures before kick off and slogans embroidered on shirts, first try not employing racists and convicted thugs as managers and assistant coaches. Like in almost any other profession.
  9. Women coach, yes, I agree. Women manage, too.
  10. And yet, without Afobe, after we beat Fulham in December we were joint third, level with Fulham. Eight points off the top (Leeds). We struggled a bit after that but then recovered and in the middle of February we beat Derby with contributions from new signings, including Wells, and with two thirds of the season gone we were seventh, level on points with 6th placed Preston, and just three points, one win off second place Leeds. We made ground on Leeds, without Afobe. Going into the final third of the season, an automatic promotion place is within touching distance. With new additions
  11. Or his mother in the club shop Or his mother in the club shop Or his mother in the club shop Or his mother in the club shop
  12. Do we not have lists of players ready to fill every position, with first preference (say, Webster, of our cb options) and then second (Elliason? in the wing options), third (Jack Hunt, rb options) and Lee too often has to settle for and then work with his second, third or fourth choice from the identified possibilities? The first options typically going to bigger fish than us, but we always have others to turn to. Something like that....
  13. We have always been a big fish in the third tier but we have not always swept it aside as we did in 2014/15, even when we spend big for that level. We have toiled aimlessly for years at that level. Whatever Cotterill had at that level, he squeezed every last bit of value out of it. And still on the theme of fish and ponds, Preston finished 11th in the Championship that first season up (when Cotts made a mess of it, or Cotts and the board), they finished 11th the following season, and 7th the season after that. In other words, putting Lee's efforts into context too. With way more to spend
  14. I was responding to @Chappers who asked how we could be successful by going away from the long-term plan. I was reminding him that we did this with SC, and it worked rather well (Cotterill took over with us at the foot of L1 - 23rd - and left us near the foot of the Championship, a jump of one whole division, all this in just over two years; in twice that time, more than four years, Lee moved us from 20th to 12th in the same division. When Lee started we were "in a much better place" than when Cotterill began here).
  15. Er, Steve Cotterill? Remember him? And he left us about 24 places higher in the pyramid when he was done. Then we reverted to the long-term plan (you know, slow and steady progress).
  16. Ringing "round" ? Round? Gerry been taking hel - o - cution lessons, or what?
  17. Gerry Francis got in a tangle like that years ago, I seem to recall (Cameroon - Macaroon)
  18. Out of likes - (and short on fivers) - but agreed, seems a really good bloke. Very best of luck to him, and his family, whatever the future holds for him.
  19. Yes, we went closest with Webster and Kalas, and a steady keeper, and without a Tammy, Reid or Afobe (or even a Kodjia) or piles of goals.
  20. Geoff reads out a text from one of us stating his preference for "Jankovic" - don’t think Weird Al has the Championship experience or the tactical nous so it's a no from me.
