  1. Average PPG of those clubs above us dictates that there will be a few who will either maintain or decrease slightly due to opposition they have to play. Same for us - which indicates that we will finish nowhere near top 6 in terms of points.

    We are not consistent enough.

IF we can finish top 10, that will be a very good outcome imo.

West Brom’s finances are tight at present so I would expect this is primarily an economic decision. Either they’re confident of selling the extra 1,000 tickets to home fans (where there might some uncertainty on their side as to whether we’d sell a full 3,000 allocation) or their policing and stewarding bill might be lower if there are fewer away fans.

Very doubtful as their average attendance is only about 70 more than ours and 3,000 under capacity.

Fair enough. Have they reduced their capacity because I am sure I have been there before (excluding the FA Cup) and we've had more than that. It's just a bit of shame for what is our 2nd closest away game that's all the will be available.

    You're probably correct.

    This site says 3k is the normal allocation;

Dont forget we never had much possession in our last 2 games. We will have the majority of possession on Saturday and we do tend to struggle at times. QPR will play us at our own game so let's see how we deal with it.

QPR had 59% possession last night at Stoke, losing 0-1.

But there's no context to that, much of it may have been passing around the back for instance and they only had one shot on target (10 off) with an xG of .37 (for those that like xG).  In the context that Stoke had lost the previous 4 shipping 13 goals and scoring just 3, it was a disappointing game for QPR.

They've played 7 games this calendar year with 5 of them at home, winning their only other away game 2-1 at Blackburn. They've drawn away at Ipswich (0-0), and won at PNE (2-0), and also won at Middlesbrough (2-0) so they can pull off some excellent away results. But they are the exception rather than the rule, they've only scored 12 goals away and conceded 20.

Not an easy game as they are capable of springing a surprise as illustrated above, but we are rightly odds on favourites with most bookies and with the momentum we've built I'm expecting a win by two goals.

  5. Just looking at current and past 8 games PPG, I would think 47 points would be safe from relegation this season and 74 points for 6th place.

The teams above us have a few games where they are playing each other in the next 3 games and Hulls game in hand is Southampton away. Also to note that of the top 11, only Coventry, Norwich, and PNE (won 3 on the trot) are currently out performing their PPG over the last 8 games in relation to their season form. Obviously, that can change given the fixtures.

We need 6+ points in the next three just to keep in touch short term - not relevant which games we win.

For me, its either Norwich or PNE for 6th place, hopefully we can get a top 10 finish which would be excellent imo.

I predict they will change this later in the year. If they don't, 1883 on the badge will refer to the attendance in years to come.

They've already capitulated by now offering family tickets in the their magnificent new stand £419 adult and £99 for under 14s. Bargain advertised - get two under 14s for £198.

No idea how you have come to the conclusion they are not a good team?

    I didn't say they aren't a good team.

I said that they aren't very good tonight (and they aren't) against a team that has just rolled over for them.

English comprehension is lost these days.

I absolutely love this and look forward to seeing the team running out on Saturday dressed as my boyhood heroes.

Agree about the Toffs shirts, I've got one of these, I've owned it for maybe about 10 years and it is absolutely great quality - perfect cut, 100% cotton, v-neck version.

Can't remember how much I paid, probably about 30-odd quid. But it will never date, and you can still get them from Toffs at £47.

This is the 75/76 slight update with the v-neck (which I personally prefer) which was when I went to my first City game. It doesn't commemorate the Leeds game, but still a fantastic throwback if you were a kid back in the 70s.

Wore that shirt to the 2008 play off final, bought it from Toffs as well.

The incredible victory at Elland Road, that shocked the football world and was featured on the front page of the papers, was the most momentous City triumph I've seen in the 54 years I've been watching.

    Exactly.

Those saying tin pot have absolutely no idea of the magnitude of that victory.

Its them that are tin pot, ignorant of the history.

Funny you mention the pitch.  Pre-game, both me and the chap I sit next to thought the grass looked longer than normal.  And I don’t think it played as slick as it usually does.  Saints passing early doors was stodgy, and they misplaced quite a few passes trying to put pace on the ball.

No idea whether a LM plan or not?

Normally longer grass could be attributed to the Bears having an imminent game, but I don't see that they have any games coming up over the weekend.

Be interesting to see if its the same on saturday.

But the post title was clickbait, there was nothing wrong with the actual post itself.

I'm not sure how/why you see the post title as clickbait.

I saw it, thought it was the original thread, then immediately realised the title was a piss take (against himself more than anything).

Anyway, I'm sure you agree with the content - it was a near perfect peformance whereby Martin had no answers to manning unravelling his game plan. It was noticeable to me that in the late stages of the game, their players resorted to petty fouling and a couple of rugby tackles with a couple booked in added time.

They didn't like it up 'em.

To me they were a mirror image of their Manager tonight. It was almost like they turned up with the attitude that no matter how well we'll play they'll just win. Quite arrogant I found some of their players tonight.

Leeds a better team for me, and also have a better manager.

Agreed - Leeds a far better team imo.

  13. Surprised how knackered they were - they've had nowhere near the amount of games we've had and yet we finished stronger, they resorted to fouling (couple of rugby tackles as well).

Seen plenty better teams than them against us this season.

They didn't like it up 'em did they :clapping:
