  1. A victim of the (lack of) "identity" for the past few years. I think it's annoying we didnt sell him earlier and get more for him. It's also annoying we didnt build a team around a style that played to his strengths. Instead we ended up using him as a desperation tactic when things weren't going our way, often to better effect than our plan a. Then we lose him for less than his value when he cant get game time. Mistakes were made.
  2. Bit harsh on Nagy in regards to energy levels, I honestly dont know which one could run for longer. Could you imagine these two on the first day back in pre season, vs say Tomlin?
  3. There was an interview with the manager of Guernsey fc when he came over, off the top of my head tinnion was the one name dropped. Edit: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/how-bristol-city-saw-interest-3637698
  4. Before this week I thought relegation was a real possibility. The interviews post match on Saturday were as if we had given up. Fast forward a few days and a new big manager appointment, I dont think we will be able to make play offs but certainly top half is a realistic target, more important to me that Ashton, lansdown and Pearson get their heads together and put in place a decent plan to move us forward next year, when we could potentially have a very exciting season indeed.
  5. I said it yesterday in a different thread, the youngsters can play when there is a decent plan in place, and when it's actually going to benefit them. Priority this season has to be making sure we move the right way up the table and build momentum going into next season, and giving the manager a good look at what he has to work with so that if all goes well he knows what we need going into next season. If the youngsters can play a part in that then even better, but getting the club back in the right direction on the pitch will be a hundred times more beneficial for the
  6. Misdirected anger in my opinion. I dont want to slag off Holden here, he was a good man and he tried. Ultimately anyone that watched Simpsons post match interview on Saturday and his pre match today could see the world of difference, and the mental advantage that it afforded us. I feel bad for Holden because he faced a shitter hand than most managers get dealt, but it was the hand he got and he will learn from it. Now we are seeing the upside of a shit situation and we could all probably do better than to point fingers or lay blame, because we have an experienced qualit
  7. The players played well for Holden, after 10/15 games we weren't in that mess, the challenge for any manager is not getting a reaction, its sustaining good performance. It's easy to get better when you're shit, it is not easy in any walk of life to be good and sustain it. That's the challenge Holden failed and that Pearson faces.
  8. Moore hasnt looked the same since the loan to Blackpool, confidence looks iffy and hes trying too hard IMO, maybe putting a bit too much pressure on himself and cracking under it. I think the loan to Blackpool was a mistake, after he had finally started to look like he was going to be a player at this level, even went knocking on the managers door to ask to be stand in captain. His reward for progress and desire was to be shunted off down a division, just so we could bring in benkovic to get very few minutes, and "go for the play offs" which we didnt make anyway. These days he has regressed ma
  9. After everything is said and done, turns out we are all ******* clueless. Wouldve got good odds on that with the bookies.
  10. I dont think you can ever really say for sure. It could raise some very interesting questions. Had a long discussion with the mrs who isnt a football fan where I found myself defending the players as she called them out for not even trying. I'm not going to say I'm completely on board with that, serious questions need to be asked regardless of Saturdays effort or lack thereof. However if everyone knew it wasnt working, looking to Holden for the answers but could see he had nothing left to offer, it's only human to begin going through the motions. Also on a
  11. Reading are an interesting one this season, earlier on they were massively outperforming where xG says they should be. That's where the similarities end unfortunately. As whilst our results are now matching our performances, their performances started to match their results.
  12. I think we will stay up through other teams being as poor as us rather than a massive improvement on our part. From what I've seen online huddersfield, Wednesday and Birmingham fans are as pessimistic as us lot, if not more so. It ain't pretty, it's nothing to be particularly happy about but we should have enough. On the other hand if we go through Feb pointless the possibility will look a lot more real.
  13. Well I know Mark Ashton is running the club, I mean where is the evidence that nothing will change as long as he remains? I get the he can be not the most likeable person, but I'm curious as to why the prevailing opinion of him seems to be not just low, but off the bottom of the scale. Edit: to answer your question I flick through my fair amount, I've never actually seen any hard evidence of Ashtons work, possibly my oversight in not reading enough/or the right posts.
  14. Whilst I agree he has dropped the ball between Lj and Holden, I'm yet to see any hard evidence that he is in fact ruining the club, or taking over the top control of everything. I dont know if I've missed something, or if I'm supposed to come to this conclusion myself based of media snippets. I wouldnt say I'm backing him as the change of manager this time is under even more scrutiny than the last, and I think if he is to carry on in his post, he needs to get this situation under control. What I would ask is, in regard to him having full control of transfer
  15. Not feeling optimistic result wise, just praying for something close to a coherent performance, something to build on.
