  1. Those wage figures are all over place. Gregg Evans needs to go back to writing for the Birmingham Evening Mail. If you add up the estimated players wages, you get nowhere near £93m or £65m. Note also that John Terry gets an approx. £75,000 a week retainer so there is the possiblity that staff wages are included in his figures. We've been prudent on wages since our return to the Premier League but it's now acknowledged that to compete we are going to need an uplift in quality which means paying players more money. Most difficult aspect is removal of deadwood in the squad. Why
  2. You have a small hope that our wage bill shoots up ? Its roughly £27m at the moment. Then you want us to come down and sell players ? Why ? And what does "spawniest club" mean ? Please explain. Reading your posts you seem to want opposing clubs to sell any good players they have and never think about improving their squads or spending any money. What is it that annoys you Mr Popodopolous ? Parachute Payments ? Relegated clubs spending on incoming player transfers ? So called big clubs ? Clubs that play the FFP loophole game ? I mean, do
  3. I get the feeling you would have enjoyed that. You really do have to let this go.
  4. The Swiss Ramble must use an alternative method of working these figures out. I got my figures from here and they were repeated in the The Mirror https://www.sportekz.com/football/premier-league-clubs-wage-bills/ Consider also that Villa's wage bill fell from £90m to £73m before relegation. And that as I told you before Aston Villa usually try to hide the exact player wage total by including it in total staff costs. Something I've noticed us doing for about ten years.
  5. I just wanted to follow this on from the Premier League last day thread. I'm not sure what you expected us as a club to do here. We did sell players. We also released Samba, Terry and Agbonlahor. Took a big fee for Jordan Amavi among others. At the same time John McGinn arrived for £2.5m You said on another thread that you hope my club leverages itself big with fees and wages and comes down next year, but we only spent what we earned in TV income last summer and we currently have the 3rd lowest wage bill in the top flight at £23.8m. In comparison Brighton's – £36m, Bournemouth's
  6. Fair enough. Please understand that many Villa fans had become accustomed to top flight status and found relegation difficult. Many of these fans used to moan with over-confidence bordering on arrogance when things were going well. We'd insist on big name signings and accuse the board of lacking ambition.
  7. I respect what Eddie Howe has done at the Cherries. But Im happy that Leeds are back. The Premier League needs fresh blood though. I'm hoping that Brentford come up. Next season I'll be rooting for Bristol City and Forest. There is amazing potential at your club.
  8. When we signed Stan Collymore in the late 1990s my fellow Villa fans were screaming that we were going to win the Premier League. All clubs have their quota of idiots.
  9. After Walsall you guys are the club I want to see do well.
  10. This could work out better for Bristol City in the long run. With Leeds and Sandwell Town out of it as well.
  11. There are good pubs around VP, you just need to know where they are. The Yew Tree accepts away fans as it's owned by a Villa hating Bluenose.
  12. You seem to forget (or not know) that we have been on the bad end of a couple VAR/refeereing decisions this season as well. Notably at Palace where we had a legitimate equaliser disallowed costing us a point. I feel your seething hatred of us (which I wasn't aware of until now) is clouding your judgement.
  13. I'm in Bussage Hill at the moment. Closer to Bristol than Birmingham. I wasn't aware there was so much hatred for us from you guys. Disappointing. Especially when personally I look out for your results and check up on Wiemann and Baker. Your battle isn't with us. Never was. I still believe Bristol City is a club on the up. We, the Villa that is are merely trying to recover to where we once were 5 years ago. We are still a mess compared to back then.
