They also get paid a ridiculous amount which isn’t justifiable with such poor decisions.

Premier league referee’s are the lowest paid referees from the top 5 leagues. Still a decent salary but under half of their la liga counterparts.

Incidentally I don't want to think im being unfair but did anyone here get bought 300 football shirts from I dunno 9 to 16? If so I bet your washing line was big as the Chinese wall? Mathmatics tells me thats at least one every other week,

Should see the size of my washing machine.

Me, too, the more I read the crassness of this thread, I honestly don't think some people got a clue, how bad they sound  glad im from a different generation tbh, to say spoilt I think many would agree

Next time I’m away with work, I’ll try and think twice before buying anymore and keep in mind you and your Nans scarf, if it makes you feel any better?

Im thinking about this now, boxes of shirts that could imply thousands, im thinking at least 500? Thats not unreasonable when you do the maths, is it?

Probably have 250-300 shirts, including all city kits. The money was never important, the excitement on my lads face not knowing which kit he was going to get and then watching him wear it to training/kick abouts, was more than worth it. They are in boxes for my memories more than anything, picking up a shirt the size of a car air freshener now and remembering how much he loved them at the time.

When I was a kid I loved all sorts of football shirts, and I’m still somewhat of a collector.

My grandparents in particular would often bring me back a shirt when they went on holiday.

I remember having Dundee, Newcastle, Arsenal, Ajax, Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, AEK Athens, Parma to name a few plus a USA shirt. Doesn’t necessarily mean anything if kids wear different shirts, especially young lads while they are trying to fit in.

I do the same now for my lad. He no longer wears them but it’s like a tradition, wherever I’ve been for work or pleasure, I’ll always bring him back the local shirt. I’ve got boxes full of random teams in the loft.

It’s been many years since I last bought replica shirt and I’m sure I’m not alone in not giving a shit who supplies our kit. To me the club shirt is a club shirt regardless which manufacturer produced it.

I really don’t understand why some posters think it’s such a big deal………….:dunno:

Get back under your rock. You have to be blind to not see new kit releases are huge part of pre season for every club. I no longer care much for kits because my lad is now at an age where he doesn’t want to wear them but to say you don’t understand why others would find it a big deal is pretty ignorant but of course, not a surprise.

I know the company that produced the finished product when the full seasons programmes were made into one large book the cost wasn't that high

I'm not trying to be rude but 8k seems like a very high number, that's more than 1 in 3 buying one

No offence taken. I worked at one of the businesses involved. Like I said, my memory of exact amounts isn’t that great but was no less than 7000 for Saturday fixtures. Less for midweek matches. The same company produced the Bears and Birmingham’s programmes as well. This was around 2016-17.

I remember the excuse for going digital was that the print version was losing money.

Since paper prices have skyrocketed over the last few years (due to reduced demand, inflation etc) the position must be markedly worse now.

(Someone like @Shtanley might have a handle on the costs.)

I wonder what the price/page count will be.

Looking forward to it coming back anyway.

As you say paper prices have gone through the roof but it’s not just the cost of paper and print, it’s the finishing as well. The programme was PUR bound and not stitched(stapled), plus the cover was matte laminated which all adds up. I can’t remember exact figures but there were roughly around 8000ish produced for Saturday games and were often 72 pages plus cover.
