  1. Then why make such a fuss about it? You seem to be criticising the SC&T for giving you the option to not comment on something that you didn't want to comment on in the first place.
  2. Would add my recommendations for The Miracle of Castel Sangro and The Damned Utd. And if you want to read more about Cloughie, then 'Provided you Don't Kiss Me', by Duncan Hamilton is excellent. Also 'Full Time - The Secret Life of Tony Cascarino' by Paul Kimmage - brilliant book.
  3. A Bristol City season ticket in 1981 was 0.6% of the average annual earnings. This year its 0.96%. See, @Davefevs isn't the only one who can do stats ?
  4. I met John McVicar once at a drinks reception. He shook my hand and looked me in the eye with a stare so intense and scary I spent the rest of the evening avoiding him.
  5. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08grz6g I strongly recommend this interview. It certainly made me reevaluate my opinion of Troy Deeney.
  6. I don't have a problem with people wearing Ukrainian colours etc, if it makes them feel better. But if you want to make the millions of Ukrainian refugees displaced by the war feel better, then I would suggest a donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee. https://www.dec.org.uk/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA64GRBhCZARIsAHOLriIiGW8KFmHyqeQOQwKqCEnFEiUw5yYoxpe03uhQfgPFrtbDC-mvr30aAnXOEALw_wcB
  7. Cameroon You Reds. Egypt the keeper from 30 yards. Kenya believe it?
  8. I was waxing lyrical to my son about the joy of making models as a kid, and he bought me the Airfix Spitfire for Christmas! Haven't made it yet, but can't wait to get stuck in (and get my fingers stuck together)
  9. He's very much still there. Was u18 coach, but has recently been on secondment working with the first team squad.
  10. It's a good day out in the Heineken. Paul Cheesley hosts, and usually chats to an ex player.
  11. I am hugely impressed by the huge amount of data and charts produced by posters like @Davefevs Am I the only one who hasn't got a clue what they mean? ?
  12. Cheese hosts in the Heineken lounge most matchdays. You can find him there, or via the club's commercial department.

    Downsy

The original tweet was ill advised at worse, but hardly a hanging offence, and certainly didn't justify the level of criticism from certain quarters. London Bristolian's excellent response sums up my view perfectly. The criticism that Downsy has had is based on 2 factors: his sexuality and certain peoples' views on his presenting style. First, the sexuality issue. If you want to find inappropriate sexual content on social media, then look no further than this forum, which at times has been a cess pit of sexism, misogyny and female objectification for years now, much of which has been far worse than anything Downsy has posted. Secondly, his presenting style. Yes, it's different to mine. Neither better or worse IMO, just different. He has a wide skill set; does the light hearted stuff well, but also has plenty of gravitas when required. For those wishing that I would come back, I must politely decline. The world of stadium presenting has moved on, and I'm very happy out of the spotlight, much as I loved the job when I did it. As I've said many times before, I think Downsy does a good job and I wish him nothing but the best. I also think it was brave of him to respond to his knuckle headed critics on twitter with such good grace and humour. When I was SLO I was called a c*** and a slimy w***** in an Internet chat. I hot a lot of that stuff. I contacted the 3 people in the chat and suggested we met for a beer, so I could work out what I'd done to upset them so much. 2 declined, but I met the other and we had a good face to face meeting and a couple of beers. I think we understood each other better after that. But that continued level of social media abuse wears you down. That's one of the reasons I packed it in after 9 years. It hurts. Really hurts. Lay off.
  14. I suspect 'currently ' is the operative word there
  15. I'll see your 'Horrible little club' and raise you a 'Vile club'
  16. When I was last involved with this a couple of years ago, the planned site for the AG station was just behind the car showroom on the Winterstoke Rd. But there were real doubts at the time as to whether there would be a station there as part of the first phase of the new line development. Not sure how up to date this site is, but you can get full info here: http://ashtongatestation.org.uk/?page_id=82
  17. Can you drop me an email please? david.lloyd@bcfc.co.uk
  18. I don't have much to add to the statement on the website. However I completely understand the frustration and anger expressed in this thread, in the many emails I've received and on twitter. I will make sure that all your views, and those of the many other fans who have contacted me, are passed on. We need to make sure this never happens again.
  19. For information: Each year the release of the new kit attracts comments both for and against. The 'lemon peel' shirt of two years ago came in for a lot of criticism from some quarters, yet ended up as our biggest selling away shirt ever. Last years 'star trek' shirt was also not universally liked, yet sold very well, particularly taking into account what a poor season we had and the difficult financial times we all had to face. As part of our kit deal with Adidas our choices are restricted to the available templates. We also have to order up to a year in advance, to make sure kit is available in the right quantities. So this year's kit was indeed chosen quite some time ago. Since then, we have set up the Fans Parliament, and embarked on a policy of wider fan engagement and consultation. This means that in future, decisions on kit will be taken in a much more inclusive way. This is the last year of our current deal with Adidas, which gives us an ideal opportunity to make sure that in the future we get as many supporters as possible involved in how a new kit might look. We've already started having internal conversations about this. We'll be coming back to fans in the autumn with some proposals for discussion which we hope will address a lot of the issues raised in this and other threads. In the meantime, if you like the new kit, we very much hope you buy it. If you don't, then of course you have the choice not to.
  20. Hang on - are you saying Steve Phillips is a nazi? No wonder he's on the transfer list.
  21. I was at the City 2000 quiz last night, and I asked 'a source close to the boardoom' ... (oh OK, it was Steve L) whether or not there was any news on Sky matches. He said that nothing has been decided, and that these decisions are usually taken about 6 weeks before the game is played.
