  1. As a fan who wasn't around in the 80's, I never really appreciated the drop off from the 1st division to the 4th until seeing as a percentage of Rover's attendance ?
  2. So I then said to him if you want to keep both your eyeballs then you should accept my friends offer for the fruit market.
  3. Not related to the Championship but I think this is quite interesting... Ligue 1 clubs stare into financial abyss after huge TV deal collapses https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/dec/15/ligue-1-clubs-stare-financial-abyss-tv-deal-collapses-mediapro TV deal collapses in France. Sounds like Mediapro made a reckless gamble by offering France the second highest TV deal in Europe? The deal that collapsed was worth around 814m euros per season and the new deal will be worth around 700m per season so the article is perhaps a little over the top. Apparently the promoted clubs Lorient and Lens had net spends that were around 20m euros on the back of the original deal. Also Nimes (who bought Eliasson, lets hope they still pay ?) had a net spend above 10m euros and they survive on gates of around 12-14,000. Those clubs look like the worst exposed to me and Nimes and Lorient are both in a relegation battle. Reminds me of the ITV digital saga although with this the clubs have to battle this at the same time as losing gate receipts.
  4. That explains why she hasn't been sacked then?
  5. I'm looking to see how long it takes to get a home win because the one time I went to watch them play was the last time they won at home in the wsl, sad to say it was about 11-12 months before lockdown begun so they were struggling massively even before fans left. One stat I look at which I think is more important in women's football is goals scored, villa had scored 3 before tonight in 6 or so games so to get 4 in 90 minutes isn't good for City. Odds on to go down now but they need to move on quickly to another big game.
  6. Nice counter attack goal, seemed like Reading had the rest of the opportunities though. When you're down the bottom that's a very good point. Against Spurs in the game before they scored twice and had some other chances too so I think that was the best performance so far from what I have seen. They haven't won a home league game for 2 seasons but if they beat Villa then they will start looking capable of staying up.
  7. Personally I would rather play them than Liverpool kids or Man City reserves. Would be bad to lose but not to the point of wanting the rivalry to die off to avoid a loss.
  8. I didn't particularly enjoy the big meeting scene in Spectre, in contrast there is a part in QoS where the criminals have a meeting in the opera which I thought was far better. Also didn't find the ending when Bond gets drilled in the head that good at the end of Spectre. I can't defend the song or the badly edited action scenes in QoS which are off putting but other than that I don't mind it, even the ending which apparently because of a writers strike was written in part by Craig himself wasn't that bad (if a little boring), I liked it when he got back the agent who made Vesper corrupt but I understand lots of people hate the movie because they see the movie as a poor sequel to Casino Royale. Don't think Dominic Greene was as bad as people make out either. Would be funny to hear the reasons why people hate this movie though!
  9. I actually think its pretty good, but she is also one of my favourite all time bond girls so maybe I am biased because of that. From what I remember its quite formulaic so it reminds me more of Brosnan than Craig's other movies, personally I think QoS is better than Spectre.
  10. Had no idea that Garner was sacked and Tisdale had taken over ? I listened to their game against Fleetwood on the radio which was Garner's final game in charge and the fans weren't happy on full time but I didn't seriously consider him to get the sack just yet. To be honest I thought the Gas were going to be a mid table/bottom half team under Garner as that new striker they have bought seems to be doing ok. Fleetwood stuck 5 past Plymouth last weekend too so they are on good form too. Lets see if Paul Tisdale can't be the next Dave Penney for them.
  11. Can't pretend I know the investment numbers but I would be surprised if Birmingham were outspending us by much. Birmingham only scored 5 goals in 13 games when the season was stopped last year but managed to score 4 yesterday. Maybe its a mix of lack of investment and low confidence but I think its a bit too easy to blame it on the investment side.
  12. Third goal, was it a cross or a shot? ? But a few years ago the woman's team managed to win (lots of 1-0's from memory) games like this, after losing 3-1 against Arsenal I would have hoped for a closer scoreline there. Wonder if Arsenal played a weakened team at all for that game, think they played Man City a few days before or something like that. To be fair to Bristol Sport they have had a PL team for many years (before a lot of other teams jumped on the bandwagon) and except for Reading and Birmingham I would expect all the other teams to invest more if we are being equal. And it's not Steve Lansdown's fault that they keep giving poor goals away.
  13. That's probably just his 8 foot henchman, who also has metal teeth. Or maybe less excitingly it's just a 3D wallpaper?
  14. Do any famous figures remind you of Bond Villains? Max Zorin is a very good match for a young Donald Trump, he ended up falling to his death from the golden gate bridge after his plan to destroy America failed... Is Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp actually a hired assassin named Locque? Might explain why the person behind VAR has given his team so many benefits of the doubt. Apparently this is the inside of Bill Gate's home, Dr No much? And just to confirm Gates is definitely not a doctor!
  15. Unlucky after having a pretty good bounce back from the 9-0 drubbing, it was looking set for a possible first league win of the season. But Birmingham at home in a weeks time is winnable too.
  16. Disappointed it has been delayed, I would have gone to the cinema to try and give them support. Recently watched Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace(better than I remembered, horrible action scene editing and the title song aside) and if Craig can put on a performance like in those or Skyfall then it should be a pretty good watch. Watched a couple of Brosnan movies too and they are now looking very dated.
  17. Would be nice to see this petition get some traction, I think that football clubs are being unfairly penalised compared to other industries and especially in the lower leagues it's important to see the fans return otherwise they are just not viable. I expect this to be dismissed by the government but hopefully I am wrong. Other countries are allowing fans back under certain conditions so for me continuing the ban seems very strict.
  18. From the Moore films I'm not a massive fan of Octopussy to be honest (but the bad guys are pretty cool), although I dislike Moonraker even more (I like the locations and the bond girls in that). Just my opinion that the movies are too jokey but so is man with golden gun so really I'm being a hypocrite.
  19. This one is considered one of the worst Bond movies of all time but I really like it too. It's really fun, it has great bad guys, some stunning locations, great bond girls (although goodnight's character is a bit meh), and great opening and closing scenes. I think lots of people hate the sgt pepper character but I remember as a kid thinking he was a good character too and even now I don't find him too gimmicky. As for a no.1 movie I probably need to watch the Connery ones again to check but it's got to be one of his.
  20. Thanks for clarifying I assumed that Nice and Marseille fans were just in the same stand as the cameras to be honest.
  21. I have watched French football highlights and they have allowed 5,000 fans into all top flight games, some of their stadiums only hold around 15,000 and fans can be quite close at times. Compare that to our approach and the difference is quite stark, I hope this doesn't destroy the lower leagues but how can you operate when there is practically no income for the next 6 months and even after that you just don't know what will happen? In olden times people used to support Chariot Racing teams like people now support Football but that completely died out over time. Crazy comparison but maybe one day football will be the same. ?
  22. I have worded it badly but what I mean is that top 6 clubs/established prem clubs will spend more on things like branding/marketing (which in my view women's football falls into kind of), for me to imply they are dipping into the men's budgets directly is a big and possibly wild assumption. But the money for some CSR projects comes directly from the club or it comes from sponsorship/director funding, it would be interesting to see how much Spurs have paid for Morgan and where the cash has come from. I know they had a big crowd turn up for the Woman's NLD so they might see this as a good investment or at the least it improves the overall clubs image. I think BCWFC have stood still while others have upped their game massively, it would be very unpopular to see BCFC men's club money go into helping the woman's team however at some point though all of the money comes from the same pot.
  23. Even Spurs have signed the one who scored the goal for USA that knocked England out of the World Cup. ? I think the unintended consequence of more money in the womens game for a club like BCFC is that they are competing with clubs that have revenues of 200-300M, I know its a vanity project to an extent but we just can't compete budget wise, even Brighton and Villa have PL money that they can chuck into this project. Agree they're in a mini league but they will be more up against it every season from now on I think. To end up with just the exact same clubs as the mens teams battle it out is a pretty horrible outcome I think.
  24. Being a modern man I just watched highlights of the 9-0 drubbing, thought the keeper was their best player but not on this performance, was at fault for at least 5 ? It was 39 shots to 1 and they play Arsenal away next, if they can keep it under 6 then it will be like a win.
