  1. The club doing some very satisfying business this year. Good solid professional signings and Nige building the type of squad he wants. If we can get Kane Wilson over the line that would be great but I want a horrible, nasty, time-wasting, streetwise defensive midfielder in, who coaches refs through games and knows how to win. We can then look forward to at least 8-10 places up the league then in my opinion.
  2. Annoying this is. Even the smallest dogs bark loudly sometimes. Can’t shake them off can we?!
  3. Great comparison but for me Nicky Morgan was a better player. Chris Martin adds massive value to us but in my view needs his playing time cut 25% to keep him at top gear.
  4. Under contract until 2025, swat away all the vultures and build a side round him. 2023-24 season he swaggers us into the Prem, gets a Euro 24 call-up in a World Champion England side and then signs a new deal with us before Liverpool at home on August 17 2024 for our first game back in the top flight. Can anyone tell I am in a positive mindset? Any comments about delusion will not be absorbed. You redsssssss!
  5. I dont think Nige actually likes our club very much and looks at us like he is not part of it and is almost like a contractor or consultant trying to figure us out. I reckon in years to come and however it ends with him, his views on us as an operation will be fascinating. Culture comes from the top and takes an age to embed but even longer to change. Same old problems with soft touch City and does not matter who the manager is.
  6. Came across well today, looked refreshed and relaxed.
  7. True legend of this football club in arguably the best side we have produced in my lifetime. He enabled the attacking intent of Gavin, Smith and God Taylor and the carnage of Robbie Turner to be unleashed with his nous and drive. All the best Shelts!
  8. Dont be so ridiculous. Ashton and Andy Rolls would have never have let this happen as the former and the latter as we all know had formed and assembled the very best medical/fitness team available.
  9. Clearly think they have done enough after scraping it at Blackburn, and have switched off and coasted into this. Collectively and as individuals this is a professional embarrassment and pretty shameful. This Barnsley side have won 5 out of 36 tonight before good old Bristol City and our weak mentality roll into town to spur their season on. The kid in goal is statistically the busiest in the league and we have not made him so much as move fast. Shambles tonight.
  10. Mad that we are playing three centre halves and two of them look too frightened to actually do any defending. There are some passengers out there tonight. Chris Martin has been completely invisible. Badly miss Weimann up there.
  11. Leeds, Everton and Newcastle relegated please and I will drink until I forget my own name.
  12. Wondering when the untouchable Bielsa starts getting questioned seeing as they are getting pumped on a regular basis, which is brilliant by the way. The Bielsa Myth and media Emperor’s Clothes god-like status that surrounds him irritates me beyond belief.
  13. The last pic tells the tale for me. As an ex right full-back my view is that Bell should be looking across the line but ready to get round and sweep should it drop over his centre-backs. Being aware of the guy outside him is irrelevant in this phase of play based on where the ball is coming from and he can see the whole line and game when play is on the opposite side. This is how I was always coached but this is not a criticism of Bell as this is clearly not a specialist role for him. Looked awful in real time to be honest and was so telegraphed.
  14. Maybe one of the biggest challenges the coaching staff has is figuring out where to play him to get the best out of him. Scott looks as easily at home picking the ball off the toes of our centre-halves and setting the tempo, as he does as a box-to-box all action midfielder, or a wide-midfielder drifting in, or playing as a 10. A dream of a player, unbelievable instinct to take the ball as he wants it for his next three-touches, thats uncoachable and a unique ability. A £20 million gem and call me an oldish romantic but lets get another 18 months of him with us and he can fire us into the Prem!
  15. We are infinitely more watchable and entertaining than at any time in the previous 2 years and if the young players that we have continue their trajectory then we are shaping something exciting and worth getting behind. We need a couple of grizzly, street-smart types in with this lot. Keep patience when they make mistakes, tolerate them when they try to do something different, and enjoy them cause there was a group of guys out there that clearly want to do their best for this football club, and that has not been the case for a while.
  16. Ok mate! Thats the spirit! More symbolic than metaphorical but thanks all the same. You redsssssss
  17. You have also lived through some great times and some dawns that were not false - ie top level football. Having supported City since the mid 80’s I would trump you on the false dawn front I’d argue, and the hot dinners too. I think I am a realist and not the eternal optimist you have intimated, but with respect I am surprised at your level of pessimism and cynicism. My old man has supported since the late 50’s and has some great memories and highs and yes some terrible lows supporting this club but offers a reasonably balanced opinion on where we are now and on the whole I think we should look forward with cautious positivity based on our young players, our manager, and our second tier status.
  18. I did think that, but thought if I pointed it out we could get stuck in vortex of trying to out-patronise each other under an umbrella of irony and no-one wants that…..!
  19. Only to those open to being patronised, so well done for sticking your hand up.
  20. Strange post. I think you must be a little delicate to take such offence at what I said.
  21. Bearing in mind the shambles we made of releasing Korey, and deeming him not good enough for us, I do not blame his celebrations and will always hold him in high regard.
  22. This forum at times resembles some sort of bizarre online Truman Show-esque surreal universe. Every time we lose a game we get the same nonsense (Pearson out, Holden didnt lose this many, not improved…. Blah blah blah) from a cross-section of “fans”, who, with every knee-jerk, poorly thought out, shallow and utterly basic statement, show themselves up with a complete lack of understanding of where our club is, the project that Pearson is having to undertake, and the shambles of mis-management and ruin that he inherited. Buckle in, support them all and look bigger picture and long-term. We are not going down this year. Anyone can see that whilst we have issues, we are building, and I look forward to calling out some of the absolute tripe from some on here in a year or so. Every club has them, but we seem to be populated with more fans lacking any sort of football nous or intellect than is bearable.
  23. Vyner the now seasoned Championship defender who has continually made mistakes and is in and out of the side vs. Scott the attacking midfielder thought of as one of our best attacking talents at the age of 18. Odd thing you have started and continuing here to be honest. Its not really apples with apples mate.
  24. Goes through the motions. A player who continually thinks he is better than he is and that good things should happen naturally. Switched off here and better for club and player that we part ways asap.
