  1. Went to the game with a mate who coaches at the academy. He had coached Yeboah, and said he had never come across a young player who was so competitive and so determined.

He was in danger of being released after Christmas last year, but basically said no way, and played the end of the season as if his life depended on it and silenced the doubters. That was basically 18/20 months ago.

He really really wants it. We might’ve found another gem.

  3. It could be a good move all round.

    1. He wants to play. I’m pretty sure he can force his way into their midfield.

    2. When he shows how good he is at that level he will have suitors higher up the food chain. A move at approx £50m will give us another £5m assuming a 20% sell on.

    3. Relatively close to home.

I say that with the caveat that I would love to see him play in our team next season. I think we’re going to surprise a few people.

Maybe (though Barca are going to need to raise a lot of money through sales to stay within budget limits having run out of 'levers '). And I wouldn't expect to get £30m for Alex unless there is a bidding war.

But we don't know just how much Wolves are going to need to raise net to stay within the £105m over 3 years limit.

Their last accounts showed a £46m loss and they spent almost £200m this season so it might be substantial.

Apologies CP. I totally get your point, just being facetious.

Some interesting stuff from Lopetegui, particularly the following:

"I am not asking for incredible signings from Real Madrid or Barcelona. I am thinking of signing good players, young players, maybe Championship players, I don't know."

So Wolves might be in the hunt for Alex, though only if they can solve their FFP problem first.

Ignoring wages. Neves to Barcelona for £40M all in this years accounts. Alex for £30M amortised at £6M per season if given a 5year contract. FFP net +£34M - sorted. ?

even if they do get permission they have virtually no time to erect anything decent before the season starts .I can see them running round 10 minutes before kick off trying to get everything in place a bit like a village fete on a Saturday afternoon .

I think the pin the tail on the donkey stall would do some business. ?

I have to say I totally agree with you. Cornick is a chocolate teapot, a forward that won’t score. What was the point in buying him? People say he’s a squad player! We don’t need squad players if we are serious.  Every player we buy should be better than what we have. Is Cornick better than Sykes, Bell, Conway, Wells  or Weiman?  I don’t think so.  I also question Pearson’s ability to buy good players. Most of young players,  he has developed , and really well in most cases, he has inherited  from previous managers. If he suddenly has a once in a decade war chest can he be trusted not to pee it away on the likes of Cornick?

Conveniently forgetting that he has signed Tanner, Atkinson, Sykes, James, Naismith….?

My son spent his early years at BS3 thinking that the crowd thought the referee was a Whacker. He now knows different.

I was at a Wimbledon match in the early 90’s when then crowd were chanting the referee’s a w*****. As the chant dissipated a boy about 8 or 9 years old continued on his own at full volume… “The referee’s a waiter”. His dad wasn’t sure whether he was pleased or embarrassed.

Their bad run started even earlier & it hasn’t even stopped.

As painful as that season was for us, we went to Boro, Swansea & Birmingham & won & gritted out a vital point at Blackburn. The point at Sheff Wed with 10 men after a terrible handball penalty decision saw Lansbury sent off was pretty huge, too.

QPR don’t look like they can get a point off of anyone.

Except West Brom. 2-2 now…Chris Martin!!!

After a dodgy first 20 minutes, it was a strong team performance. For me, the best players were Zak Vyner, Andy King, Matty James, Jay Dasilva and Sam Bell.

I agree all played very well. I thought Tanner was excellent too.
