  1. I'll say it now, and it may get laughed at, but I am pretty sure it will happen. Rodgers will get until the World Cup. But after the World Cup, Southgate will leave England and whilst he has done nothing at Club level he'll be an appointment Leicester would look to make. Leicester don't strike me as the types to accept relegation battles and wouldn't panic in the big Sam, Sean Dyche set up. They will want a young hungry progressive manager and I firmly believe the only reason they haven't sacked Rodgers already is because they know Southgate will be available after the World Cup and he would be a good long term appointment for them, and would help them keep hold of the likes of Barnes and Maddison in January.
  2. Or perhaps given all Semenyo's goals have come when he's been on the pitch with Wells, perhaps a better pairing would be Wells and Semenyo.
  3. I originally thought this was filmed on the Robbored Wembley Express
  4. Providing people followed protocol. By reading this thread and the levels of anti monarchy, it's no wonder the FA did not trust the fans.
  5. Where has this been published? As far as I can see, the date of the funeral is yet to be officially announced?
  6. No a lot of what I read was anti-monarchy and NOW is not the time for that sort of posting. The country is in mourning, and the reality is, if people don't have anything nice to say, they should say nothing at all!
  7. I haven't the whole 31 pages, but the tone of a lot of this thread is so disrespectful. I appreciate not everyone on this forum is a royalist, and some do not even like the monarchy, but the Queen served this country for 70 years and she worked to the day she died, she gave her life to represent the people of this great country. Some people like to mourn, want to reflect, and whilst I personally have been saddened by her passing, I have carried on with work, and personally I would have enjoyed to watch sport this weekend, but I do respect the powers that be making the decision. It's a game of football and it's one weekend. But the level of disrespect shown on this thread is so sad, and I personally think this paints the club and its fanbase is a very low light.
  8. Very sad news. All the best to Marcus, his family and friends.
  9. For me, in my lifetime Gary Johnson has been our best and most successful manager. I loved his hairdryer treatment and also the Del Boy wheeler dealer type of manager that wasn't afraid to give anyone a chance. He got a great morale from his players and in Basso he found a cult hero who helped install belief to the club. He was also one of the nicest people to meet, and I know when my Dad, Brother and Myself were at the Man Utd game the other year, he was in the lift with us. He didn't look in the best of health, but still stopped to chat with us when he got out the lift for 2/3 minutes. Even when we often went 2-0 down, that Johnson team always felt like they could turn it around, and our promotion from League One and the continuation to Play Off finalists in the Championship has really been my most enjoyable time watching the club, until the first half of the 17/18 season, when it looked like we could go all the way, and we had the dream cup run, before we ran out of puff by the end of January. Under Gary Johnson we never looked beaten and the players gave their all for him, until that final year. I was sad when he left, and whilst it was probably the right time and he admitted he had taken us as far as he could, I still think we have struggled to replicate that level of team since, yet there were no stars or big wage Charlie's in a Johnson line up. For me, I will always fondly remember his time at our club, and for me there was times that LJ looked like he might emulate him but it wasn't to be. We showed times under Wilson that we were a good side and enjoyable to watch, but the mentality was all wrong. I was excited when Pearson came in, and hoped it would work, as I've always liked him as a manager. My worry is he is very dry and old fashioned and that when results haven't gone his way, he hasn't endeared himself on the fans, so his head was called for earlier than many heads have been called for. I'll be first to admit, I was one of those calling for his head at the end of last season, but not now, he has won me around and this season is starting to feel like 2008 again, with the right mentality and players who may not have been likely candidates for star players coming to the fore and suddenly we look a TEAM again. I'm very excited and yes its early days, but like 2008, something just feels right and I have a feeling that this may end up being our year. We need to be in the top 4 or 5 in January to have any chance of holding on to the key players and I finally see a team that play for the shirt. If Pearson takes us up on our shoestring budget, then for me, he surpasses Gary Johnson as our best manager. I feel certain managers get longer in a job, because they are likeable and you want them to do well, Warnock, Holloway, LJ all spring to mind, as managers who can talk their way into a few more months, but Pearson kind of is very cold, and maybe we didn't need someone who would win a popularity competition, but a football one. For me, the few times I met GJ, he was humble, kind and professional and a very decent bloke, and I think his teams give him everything as he would be like one of those people, that in person they are genuine and decent and do anything for you, but mess up on the pitch and he'll come at you all guns blazing. He didn't take fools gladly and was honest. I don't know how anyone could get on the wrong side of GJ and if you did, it would have to be for something serious, or because you deserved it for being a *****. For me GJ is the best manager we've had in my 40 years on this planet, but Pearson is starting to contend.
  10. I'm a big Wells fan, but I wouldn't be looking to extend his contract until end of the season, if we went up, there is no need to offer him a new one, as he wont be good enough in the top flight, if we don't go up, it might be worth a one year extension on lesser terms if he wants it.
  11. I can answer some of this for you. Only Gorilla's, Blue Eyed Black Lemurs, certain fish species, reptiles and birds including Tarictic Hornbills, Sumatran Laughingthrush and Sorocco Doves will be going to Wild Place, other animals were placed on a surplus list and movements to other zoos have been arranged, this will take place over the next couple of months. Some animals had belong to the European Breeding Program (EEP) will have had moves decided for them by the stud book. The Gorillas will probably stay at the Clifton site until 2024, but those are the only ones who will be affected. Also some animals may have not yet been found new collections, so they will stay in Clifton until they do. Whilst the zoo is closed to the public, staff have still got jobs until January, although some have already taken redundancy, and some have been transferred to Wild Place for work. What about Bruce Almighty himself MA?
  12. To be clear, the plans are set by Bristol Zoo and it will ONLY be sold to a developer who follows the plans secured by Bristol Zoo, it is not for sale under any other method. It is only for sale to follow the plan Bristol Zoo have set out, which is probably why it hasn't been sold yet! As planning hasn't even been secured yet.
  13. If you have seen the plans, you will know that is very much the case. It is far from a housing estate and the gardens will remain free for people to visit, with access to play areas and a museum and a cafe. It is not being converted to a housing estate !
  14. Not totally true. The site that is Bristol is flawed so it can't hold big species of animals anymore under current Zoo Legislation. I would happily go into detail, but I wouldn't want to bore the pants off people who probably have little interest in the Zoo / Animal industry. The Zoo is being sold, but it will take a long time to sell and the money it makes will be reinvested into Wild Place Project which will be rebranded in 2024 as the new Bristol Zoo. Until planning goes through and the site is sold at Clifton, none of that can happen however. I wouldn't say Bristol Zoo is being greedy, you may not realise this, but they are a charity which supports animal conservation projects all over the world and the Clifton site was losing so much money, and the animals were mainly in exhibits which was not up to current standards. The lack of popularity in visitors, forced their hand some what and Covid done the rest. This was not about the Zoo or owners making millions as you allude, this was dealing with the current demographic and also securing the future of the charity and the conservation projects it supports.
  15. Not a person, but I think its sad that on a Bristol City Forum, there is no mention that our Amazing Zoo, the 5th Oldest in the world, and after 186 amazing years closed its doors for the last time yesterday. RIP Bristol Zoo
  16. I just wish he had a better song than the Marvin Elliott one. He really should have had the Kylie song tbh, something original and solid. "Is it my imagination, we've found a new sensation, he's deadly when he's on the ball" "He'll terrorise your defence, With his best mate Conway, They'll lead us to the promised land" "Cause we've got Nahki Nahki, Nahki, Nahki, Nahki, We've got Nahki, Nahki Wells" ooooohhoooo "Yeah we've got Nahki, Nahki, We've got Nahki Nahki, We've got Nahki Nahki Wells" (I'll get my coat)(Closet Kylie fan)(Travesty her songs don't make chants).........
  17. What about when he's bagged 20 plus goals this year and leads us to the Premier League, is it OK to say "I Told You So" then, because that's exactly what will happen if we stick with him and Conway and bring on Semenyo when one gets tired or doesn't fire. Plus if we rock up our defence. Wells, Conway, Weimann and Semenyo are the forward line that can finally get us to the promised land.
  18. Yes, but HE'S ALWAYS had it!!! We were playing him out of position and not to his strengths and giving him 5 minute cameo's. The problem was NEVER Wells, it was Bristol City not using him correctly.
  19. So what's happened to all the fans saying he should be sold, he's not worth his wages, he has no future at the club! Just as well NP thought differently and Nahki never let his head drop! Absolutely fantastic this season and proving all his doubters wrong. His goals, assists and movement and his suitability with Conway is why we are where we are. The striker we needed, but had all along! All those offering to drive him to Preston in the summer, hang your heads in shame !
  20. I wouldn't be surprised to see Alex Scott be sold and loaned back. I would be very surprised if we sold Semenyo and he got loaned back.
  21. All the best to Nathan Baker on his retirement from professional football. Seeing as doctors say he shouldn't play professionally, I wonder if he could still play part time ? Rovers .......
  22. You say that, but in the summer he only has one year left, and every team knows that. He can then go for free at the end of that season, so offers in the summer will be under 10m for sure, and the longer its left, we get another Maynard situation. January is probably prime time to sell, if he is banging the goals in, but 15m now and the club sell imo.
  23. In my opinion, despite being a big Wells fan, he has to start. Semenyo we don't know if he's ready for 90 minutes and the same time, we don't know if he will be here come midnight on Thursday. Conway is flying on all cylinders but struggles around the 65-70 minute mark. Start with Wells and Conway, it's working well and Wells was unlucky not to Score at Blackpool and it was his header the keeper tipped onto the bar which bounce off their player into the net, so he was unfortunate there. By starting with Conway and Semenyo, we run the risk of after 60-65 minutes, we need to replace both and bring on Wells and Martin which is a polar opposite partnership. Better off starting with Wells and Conway and whichever looks more tired with 30 to go, swap for Semenyo and if the other needs swapping later in game, Martin can come on then. Too risky to start Semenyo / Conway at present and Wells doesn't deserve to be dropped also.
