  1. Is that not a fair opinion though? It's a 'safer' thought and probably better for the club than the people out there who think "get anyone in instead of SL".
  2. There isn’t? I’m not sure how that relates to what I said?
  3. To be fair Dave it’s just the other side of the coin to those who want SL out for any new owner which is just as a blinkered view!
  4. I’d prefer for JL to have a go than Parker!
  5. Yes that could be the case. But do you know that for 100%? I’m hindsight yes obviously, I think Dickie actually prefers to play from the left?
  6. An extra CB is fair but ‘what if’ in the last two weeks of the window there wasn’t one available that would improve the squad as that’s what Pearson has said he would only buy a player if that would happen. Maybe he thought we could muddle through with Vyner and Dickie as first choice until Atkinson is back using Naismith and youth as back ups.
  7. Do we have 11 players out with ACLs?
  8. His hands are tied because of the injury crisis. That’s what you should be kicking off about. If we had Vyner, Atkinson, McCrorie, Tanner & Naismith our defence would be looking good. How many more player do you want? If we had no injuries and put out similar to todays team were still playing poorly then yes, SL would need to answer why he didn’t strengthen the team but that isn’t the case. The fact you’ve said I’m sending SL shows you haven’t read what I’ve said. You need to direct your anger/request for someone to speak to the professional people in the roles that are causing issue. Rennie/Orme/the other fitness coach whose name I’ve forgot. They need to come out and explain why we have 11/12 first team players out and what they are going to do to resolve it and prevent it happening again.
  9. The clubs transfer policy should not be made public. All he’d be answering is why we didn’t buy anyone in the 7-10 days after we sold Scott and what good will that do you knowing that!? Pearson put a LB at CB and a RW at LB. He could have played Idehen (who was on the bench, is tall and has championship experience) at CB, put Pring back at LB and Sykes back to RB (at least closer to his position). Pearson picks the team!
  10. I don’t want to hear from SL about the injury crisis. I want to hear from Dave Rennie who is over seeing our players dropping like flies. What is SL going to tell you about it? He’s an accountant living in Guernsey! I don’t want to hear from SL about tactics and how we set the team up, that should be from Pearson who will need to explain how we only had 1 shot on target again all game. The managers contract situation should not be made public same as if we offer players new contracts. We should not tell the fans how much and when we will look to invest in new players as that will be a detriment to us when dealing with other clubs. People just need to admit they want SL to say something in public so they can twist his words and have a moan!

On who? What if Pearson, Tinnion and whoever else is involved in talent acquisition went to SL, etc and said we've identified these 5 players we'd like to buy with some of the money made by Scott. SL and Alexander went to those clubs and 3 of those 5 were completely unavailable from their clubs. the remaining 2 were but at a vastly increased price due to the knowledge of the money involved in the Scott deal and being right at the end of the window. So what do we do? Over pay on these two players or go and find 5 more who aren't quite as good but are just signings to keep fans/NP happy? (or clubs in the bag?) Or do we consolidate with the squad we have (not knowing 3/4 of them would be injured after 10-12 games) and look again in January at the player market situation? Players previously unavailable are now available, players not on our radar now on our radar, players previously thought too expensive scouted for a further 4 months and thought worth the money.

So SL 'went for it' with LJ and MA because he believed in the fairytale of ex manager son/ex player taking the club to the Premier League. Nothing wrong with that. It didn't work out, we spent far too much money on players and also on players we didn't need + COVID kicking in meant we caught caught out and had to cut our cloth accordingly with a number of years of free signings and Pearson doing a great job with developing young players. We sell the best of them for £25m 2 weeks (?) before the end of the transfer window. The consensus on here is that SL should have allowed the majority of that money to be spent in those 2 weeks, seemingly disregarding buying the right players for the club who may not have been available in those 2 weeks. I see it more that we are going to be wiser with the money, get the right players in when they are available. It's an injury crisis that is screwing us at the moment, not a lack of investment since Scott left. Your last sentence is my point. He's made the mistake of backing the wrong horse before, he doesn't want to do it again without the safety net of selling a Scott to bail us out of financial trouble.

So we buy a player for roughly £1m was it? played him in a couple of games, but hit or miss, has a whole pre-season for Pearson to get him integrated in the team and the way he wants him to play and can’t? So it’s either the recruitment of the wrong mentality player or Pearson isn’t coaching him well enough? If that’s the case I’m not surprised SL is reticent in giving NP £20m to spend.
  14. I don't see any sort of game play or style of play that we are trying to do. There is no movement from midfield. People stand behind opposition players and don't make angles for short passes. Any short pass we do make is shin high and too powerful. Ipswich jut played simple 5 yard passes to manoeuvre our players out of the way and then would attack in numbers. Our game plan as far as I could see was pass it across the back 4 to Sykes, to chip a ball down the line for Conway to be outmuscled but hope Knight can pick up the ball form there. Pearson has done well to steady the ship defensively and we do look solid (until O'Leary either has to kick or save it) but that's come at a huge attacking price where we always seem to be a player or two short on attacks. The less said about Dr. Death in charge of the medical side the better!
  15. Ah so you get the concept? You didn't say why you post them. Sorry to start with such a difficult question.
  16. I'm not interested in your condensed version of Jersey's match threads, so why do you post them?
  17. Alex Scott. His second name is in the thread title.
  18. The way I see it is that no-one would be against a new owner coming in, righting the wrongs and financing the club to promotion and then stabilisation in the top division. How many clubs has that happened to? Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth, Burnley and the Championship Watford, Stoke and Swansea? Then there are the clubs who have had an owner come in, risk it all for that promotion, short success and then leave - Cardiff, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Bolton, Derby, Leeds a while ago, Charlton, Reading, Wigan. Roughly 50/50 success rate from those selected. Now as long time Bristol City fans, which type of owner are we more likely to get?
  19. That is exactly what we are. We'd work really hard to press and harry, close the ball done, win it back and then put a 5 yard pass just out of reach of an attacker and have to do it all again. We seem to have sacrificed attacking prowess for defensive stability. Every attack we have we seem to be heavily outnumbered and it's such hard work to get into a position for a good shot so we rarely get shots on target (only 2 today I think) whereas if you look at Leeds today, they often had 5/6 players pushing forward.
  20. You do know we're 1 point off the play offs? That's without Scott (who would have been injured anyway) and he did buy a decent centre half in Dickie.
  21. I love the way he can receive the ball on the turn to beat a man. Really good way to break the defensive line and spring a counter attack.

    Stoke fans

What an odd little rant you’ve gone on in this thread about Stoke
  23. What’s his % of passes and goal kicks that go out for a throw in?
  24. Ah sorry I misread your comment as no undersoil heating at AG!
