  1. Yup, 'self-imposed' seemingly the key words. Nige always talks about there being no room in the budget, not FFP. Maybe the budget could be increased without creating a FFP issue but don't really know. Would be interested in the views the FFP experts as to whether our budgets are now driven by FFP concerns or just a general tightening by Steve and Co for 'sustainability purposes'.
  2. There is no escape from the monstrous regiment of women. It's been going on for a while: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_First_Blast_of_the_Trumpet_Against_the_Monstruous_Regiment_of_Women
  3. Exactly this. Steve has created an unsellable monster IMO. You can imagine someone wanting a football club to develop but when you add in rugby and basketball you can see the problem.
  4. I think remuneration is something to do with large formations of starlings.
  5. Grauniad reporting that a £25m package has been agreed. No idea what that means, but if it includes future sell ons, or event-based payments (appearances, avoiding relegation etc) then I can well understand Nige been more than a bit annoyed. Who knows?
  6. She also once announced the half time score of the match we were actually watching.
  7. That's bad as well. Bear in mind we're talking about POTD for a second division game. Off the scale compared to the rest of Europe.
  8. Yup, same. My son used to be a ST holder but now lives away. Last time I took him to the Gate it was £38 for a seat in one of the centre blocks of the Dolman. Never again.
  9. Amen to that. It used to annoy me when we used to refer Stephen Cotterill as Steve. What are they thinking?
  10. Yup, that's my experience of them as well - pleased for them. Would also say that Man City and Pep always respect their opposition and the competition they're in. We've played then three times and each time they've put out a strong side and been completely professional.
  11. Does winning the Third Division (or whatever it's called) count as 'winning the league' or is that just the top league?
  12. Completely ridiculous. The sooner VAR is gone the better. Makes you wonder how we went so long without a penalty if that's the standard. (I use the word 'standard' loosely).
  13. Well yes. Good to see the full stop though. Not enough people punctuate properly
  14. You're not wrong. Under no pressure to do that - a complete rush of blood to the head. Pity. Difficult to believe Hants won the competition last year. Some very poor shots played but can't take anything away from a great performance from Somerset.
  15. 100% true. If SL thought Ashton had done anything wrong then he himself would have to admit fault in letting it happen. Add in the mealy mouthed references to NP in the same interview and there you have it. Can't see much cause for optimism as I think we're heading for yet another lap of the old, familiar circle.
  16. Haaland had a very quiet game against us. Just goes to show...
  17. I'm sure that you're right with all that. Problem will come when SL decides that Nige hasn't delivered the play-offs and decides to replace him - and off we go again on the same old cycle.
  18. The Producers (Zero Mostell version) Kind Hearts and Coronets The Ladykillers The Meaning of LIfe Godfather 2 Clockwork Orange Jaws
  19. Amen to that but it's the hope that kills you. I'd be delighted if he was here next year, but not if he doesn't sign a new contract. We need more than a few players in and from what I can see much of it will be funded by Alex Scott's sale.
  20. It might be that he intends to wind his contract down, which would be a disaster for the club.
  21. I don't doubt it, but he's too old now for a whole season's effort. Was at the game last night. Huddersfield were overrun in the first half. No idea what Warnock said to them at half time but they were very good after the break - high energy, pressed well and got forward quickly. Brilliant strike by Danny Ward for the goal. Warnock went off through a guard of honour. 18th now on 50 points with one to go. Amazing stuff from Mr Warnock.
  22. He's 74. Most people that age don't work at all.
  23. Well having seen the Wrexham fairytale end well you wouldn't be surprised.
