  1. He's 74. Most people that age don't work at all.
  2. Well having seen the Wrexham fairytale end well you wouldn't be surprised.

But how far would you go with filtering? For example, would you check that people reported as passed on actually have? (Btw, It seems we have reports of deaths and other family messages at every home game these days, which I think is a fairly new development for us - personally not sure it's a great idea).
  4. Well done you, and ignore the critics. A mate of mine once promised his wife a trip to the Peak District and lunch out. He took her to watch Huddersfield play at Chesterfield and bought her a pie. Compared to that you are treating your wife as the princess she doubtless is. Hope you have a great day.
  5. Much talk of removing symbols of regrettable history. But then, we have a local organisation who glory in the deeds and consequences of piracy. Time for a ban and an apology to the victims of piracy maybe.
  6. Agree that ideally the initial process needs to get down to 'days or weeks'. One of the issues would be the small industry of lawyers engaging in lengthy appeals processes. Perhaps we need some sort or triage process so that those that aren't fleeing war or persecution can be returned straight away. Suspect.a change of law might be necessary, not to mention issues with ECHR.
  7. Quick answer: yes. the investment will bring jobs in the construction itself, more visitors, more jobs in leisure. All in all, a bit of growth in an area that very much needs it. (As an aside, I would add that the many local councils that I've had dealings with over the years have been fantastically incompetent and wasteful. I'm not saying they don't face difficult problems but running things properly would be a decent start. Don't know many folk who think Bristol City Council is well run. Anyhoo, that's a whole different thread).
  8. Can't really see a problem here - there's already a number council owned/funded stadia. Wrexham has staged Wales matches over the years, and am sure could be described a the biggest stadium in North Wales. Maybe the locals think that the investment will bring business and jobs into the town - probably correctly. Good luck to 'em.
  9. I would have thought the local radio station should cover the likes of Yeovil as well as league clubs. There's enough complaints about the media's obsession with the Prem to the detriment of clubs like City. Surely this is just the same issue but down a level or two.
  10. Interesting watching Cornick yesterday. Obviously did his stuff up front, but was quite often back supporting in the right had side and covering Tanner. A few have said that Tanner was out of position too often. Not sure about that - personally thought that Tanner was tucking in trying to help Andy King out and Cornick was helping with the gap that was left. All in all. Cornick put in a hell of a shift yesterday, quite apart from the goal and he assist, Good to see.
  11. Thoroughly enjoyed this season - we are now good to watch, can see progress been made and all with our own players (no loans). The only frustration has been the number of ridiculous, totally avoidable mistakes made early on in the campaign, without which we'd be around the playoffs now, With Scott and a few others moving on the next window will be crucial - my worry for the next year or two is our Board - they need to get Nige's contract extended and back him in the window (assuming we will be clear of FFP issues). COYR!
  12. Doesn't sound like much enthusiasm for his current deal/offer but as long as he keeps up his levels and maybe improves a bit am sure he'll get a better deal. "We'll see what happens" sounds like he's open to staying longer for the right deal.
  13. Very good news - hope it turns out to be a longer deal. Vastly improved over the year and maybe even better to come.
  14. Form for the last 6. Amazing stuff from Warnock. Reading and QPR dire.
  15. Very good - how long have you been saving that one for?
  16. ... or Tony Pulis back at City? (Sorry).
  17. Not really comparable. The scenes in Cabaret re pre war anti-Jewish sentiment and dehumanisation are very dark.
  18. ... and on a similar theme I remember that the players gave Scotty the nickname of Abdul for a short time when he came back for the new season with a deep sun tan.
  19. Btw, 5 of their 8 remaining games are away. Looking odds on for relegation sadly.
  20. ... forgot to add he was very good going forward as well and he's got a decent pass in him. As I've already said Bromley should have been 3 up in the first 15 minutes. All the trouble was coming down the right, including the set up for the early goal. Highlights (but bear on mind Yeovil have also got a player called Fisher to confuse things):
  21. Yes, he looked good - always positioned well and never beaten. Always difficult to tell - he was up against an opponent who had reasonable skills but always came inside before running into traffic. Not once was he tested by someone trying to get down the line. (Shumumni himself was that side as well and he looked better than National League standard). Enjoyed watching Bromley but Yeovil weren't much of a test.
  22. Went to see Yeovil vs Bromley last weekend. Yeovil were dreadful. A couple of decent players and a number of new signings that hadn't even trained together, let alone played together. Defence look like they'd never met, going forward had no energy and carried no threat. Bromley should have been 3 up after 15 minutes. Mark Cooper said afterwards in his interview that the new owner was buying the players he wanted (the owner that is). Sadly, relegation looking very likely - a pity for the very pleasant fans I was sat with. (On the bright side £5 in, good pasty and Bromley had a player called Shuwumni, which brought back the odd memory).
  23. Yup, you don't need to get into the wrong part of that city. Driving around Naples is fun as well - lunatics who think red traffic lights are only advisory. Won't go back.
