    Louis Carey, I believe.

T’was Carey, but he didn’t go to sleep. The ref was talking to him about the foul when Stoke took the free kick. Ref should’ve made them re-take it (he wasn’t ready himself), but there you go.

I didn’t watch the match ( I was washing my hair) but cold hard stats don’t point to a hammering.
Just to add that , curiously , after more than fifty years loving this club.I don’t really care anymore. I am thoroughly peed off with the club . I have dropped Robin’s TV . Rarely listen to the interviews or watch the highlights. They have killed the little enjoyment that I got from supporting this team.

I’m with you Major. Been a City hand for (approx) 58 years. In all that time there have been about 6 seasons when we weren’t awful. Cannot let them ruin any more of my Saturdays 🤣

I remember a game not that long ago against a team in blue and white (it’s Ipswich) where they were blowing out their arses last 25 mins, and it was us going strong at the end.

    This was the match:

Sykes at RB, King at CB…Idehen, J.James, Nelson on the bench, not including Bajic.  JKL had never played a first team minute.  Yeboah had, almost a veteran.

    Context!

Experience in that team, oh and 9 subs.  Also, a manager who was able to change tactics. Also steam United, with a clear identity and purpose and playing to it’s strengths. #context.

  4. Tonight our disastrous transfer dealings were exposed. Ipswich brought on four fresh, high quality players, we made the only two subs we could have made, you cannot play Knght-Lebel or Mebude in that situation. Williams & TGH were knackered and we had no one to replace them. OK, arguably Roberts for Pring, but fairly certain Burns would have made him look stupid too.

    Here you go:

    "Dear Gasheads,

It is with great enthusiasm that I address you today, six months after taking control of our beloved club. During this past period, the board has been dedicated to laying the foundation for an ambitious journey. I am excited to share our vision for the next three years, focusing on three pivotal areas: the first team, the Memorial Stadium, and our training ground, The Quarters.

    Building a Competitive First Team:

This past December, we appointed Matt Taylor as our manager, fully confident in his abilities to transform our squad into a formidable force within the league. His vision and leadership perfectly align with our ambitious goal: promotion to the Championship within the next three years.

We are committed to providing Matt with full backing and the resources needed to make this vision a reality. This summer, during the transfer window, we will work closely with him to acquire talented players who share his ambition and are eager to contribute to the success of Bristol Rovers. We have already made strategic additions like Kamil Conteh, and further reinforcements are planned that will bolster the squad in key areas. While Aaron Collins' departure was mutually agreed upon – both he and the club felt it was the right time to move on – we extend our sincere gratitude for his contributions and wish him all the best. We’ve also bolstered the management team with experienced figures like Jamie McAllister, Kevin Bond, and Wayne Carlisle, further propelling our aspirations. Additionally, we are deeply invested in nurturing home grown talent, as evidenced by Jed Ward's remarkable rise.

    Transforming the Memorial Stadium:

Upon taking the helm, we quickly discovered that the developer involved in the previous stadium development plans at the fruit market site chose not to proceed further with the project. While acknowledging this initial setback, we swiftly shifted our focus towards revitalising the heart and soul of our club: the Memorial Stadium. The opening of the South Stand has demonstrably enhanced the match day atmosphere, serving as a mere glimpse of what is to come. Our ambitious vision is to expand the stadium's capacity to 16,000, creating a vibrant and intimidating fortress that will resonate with your unwavering support for our first team. We will keep you informed of our progress as we navigate the planning and approval process with the city council. We will share our designs and plans once we have obtained all the necessary approvals.

    Investing in The Quarters:

Our vision for The Quarters extends far beyond its function as a training ground. We envision it as a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a home for both our first-team and academy. This development embodies our culture of excellence and ambition, providing a clear pathway for academy players to transition to the first team. The Quarters will boast additional top quality pitches and an indoor pitch, specifically designed to optimise training for both the first team and academy. Additionally, the fully-equipped building will house all the resources necessary for player development. This will include gym facilities, nutrition and rehabilitation to ensure holistic support for all of our teams. Furthermore, we have also included a residential element to ensure the site is commercial viable for the club. As we obtain approvals from the City Council and local residents we will also share our plans and designs for the Quarters.

    Together, We Rise:

The future holds immense promise, and we are not embarking on this journey alone. Your unwavering support, passion, and loyalty fuel our collective aspirations. We will soon be in a position to announce the release of season tickets. We understand the economic challenges everyone faces, and despite inflationary pressures, we have ensured minimal price increases.

We still have a number of important fixtures this season, Wael and I looking forward to joining you all at The Mem and on the road to get behind the team.

Thank you for all of your support.

    FTG!

    Sincerely,

    Hussain Alsaeed, Chairman"

Two take outs from me. They need to be promoted in May 2026 to be promoted to the Championship within 3 years, and they might get a bit of a shock if getting permission from Bristol City Council to build on the quarters.

They are crying out for that 16,000 seater stadium 😂

Ref did well. Let a lot go. There wasn't much contentious to deal with

The offside ‘goal’ was a brave call. Locals didn’t enjoy his performance.

    Well done.

I had a look again online just now.. I know I have the paper copy anyway but it seems very odd and that description of our goal still rankles or am I a little oversensitive on that?

I thought our goal was well worked and though the Nottingham Forest defensive side wasn't the best, that we showed patience and precision, while Knight finished coolly.

I posted it before but I didn't think this was terribly balanced.

"King led the first-half comeback, helping to create the equaliser six minutes after the opening goal. Haydon Roberts pushed down the left, then turned inside and passed to Jason Knight, who dummied his way round Danilo. Knight fed the ball on to King, who was arriving down the inside-right channel 30 yards out. When Forest's five-man defence naively backed off King, the former Leicester City title winner needed no further invitation and shot.

"Turner pushed the shot on to his left upright, the ball bounced across the goal, kissed the right post and was controlled by Bell. Forest's marking was so poor, the responses so sluggish. As Bell turned, Knight made his way through the middle, helped by Cheikou Kouyate not tracking him. Bell rolled the ball in to the unmarked Knight, who placed his shot past Turner".

interesting writing that.  That IS what happened, but, as you say, emphasised Forest's sloppiness rather than giving any credit to 'little old Bristol City'.  I bet if we had appointed Lampard instead of manning we would be getting much more and better coverage.

Do you have a link to the Henry Winter article as I can’t locate on my Times app? He is usually complimentary towards us to be fair.

I tweeted a complaint to them.   Only two cup relays that night, there was 2.5 pages about Chelsea finally being uncrap and they didn't even list out score. two weeks ago, the Monday edition had match reports of every Championship game except one. Not prizes for guessing which one.

    He’s not bitter or jealous….

You will no doubt find this hard to understand BUT i am not jealous of your club and do not cast envious eyes across the City, the fans there are your typical 'poor' little rich kids, have everything but still not happy , your post sums it up' my so and so is bigger /better than your so and so,nah, nah,na,na na ! Pathetic,! you will never understand this but our season in the 5th tier was rewarding and enlightening, the dedication of the fans there was extraordinary! you will never understand it. you actual went bankrupt and ruined peoples lives , players included, ashamed .not you lot you hold a celebration to commemorate the event!! I am very happy with our new stand thank you, our Girls are rising through the ranks without any help from a big PR machine, we have a very decent training ground and facilities, yes you do well with transfers but that should tell you something, i.e. all your best players leave, there is a reason for that , any idea what? clutching at straws ,not me mate, you have your culture we have ours , you are welcome to yours, i will stick with ours if you don't mind.

the fans there are your typical 'poor' little rich kids, have everything but still not happy - Wrong

should tell you something, i.e. all your best players leave - a) because we develop them so well, they leave for the Premier League and yours leave for a league LOWER

Really do noy know where this "City fans are entitled" nonsense comes from.  Our fans are drawn from an identical cross section of society as thiers are, it's just that we have three times as many (and growing)
