Hilarious how they have absolutely wiped the floor with Chelsea.

    £23M combo for Potter too..

Tony Bloom is a gambler, I would just like to point out that if Brighton didn't get promoted the season they did, it would have got very different financially, but he rolled the dice and with a good team in place won..

Clearly some of this will be transfer and Potter driven but I wonder if Bloom will be looking to make hay while the sun shines and cut his Loan Balance a bit.

I'd say Benham at Brentford could also start to do so a bit.

Tony Bloom has taken his first instalment to repay his loan to the club but will invest in players again this summer..

As I was, and started in the third division prior to that particular ‘dip’ to the fourth.

I have, however, little doubt the current Owner and The Board wish to achieve success.

Certain parts of their ‘model’ seem to be heading in the right direction. For example, not many Championship Clubs had attendances at their grounds over the last couple of days exceeding 46,000, with the stadium and support receiving glowing praise from a national broadcaster.

I do think the football side needs work still and I remain sceptical that the current set up off/on field will deliver success. I would love to be proved wrong.

Didn't know the attendance  was that big, shouldn't that be a Health and Safety issue?

Asking a lot of Seb but would love to see it happen!

He certainly fits the strong, mobile runner Tinnion has said we're after but I wouldn't want to be relying on him for Championship goals. Let's not burden the lad with that just yet.

Prefer to see him have another loan next season, play as first choice striker for someone, be the main man and hot double figures for a season. Then we'd know we've got something.

He's certainly doing all the right things so far, though, isn't he?

I agree, he wouldn't be my choice as back up so soon though, but I can see the club doing it..

For clarity - if Conway leaves do you think we'll sign 2 centre forwards?

Only because I get the feeling Lansdown has drawn in the purse strings permanently and will spend a minimum going forward, might it be a case of Conway is sold and next season our lone strikers are New no.9, Wells and Cornick?

A very brave alternative being sell Cornick, buy new No.9 and hope Conway-Newbie-Wells gets us promoted. The risk being in 120 months, Conway leaves for nowt but compensation. Mind you, the way Manning is playing him, Conway's value can't be much more than that now anyway!

I think it will be new no.9, wells and Seb, saving loads of cash..

  6. Everything at this club at the moment is money driven.

We don't want to spend on a CEO, Director of football or a decent recruitment team, so what do we have?

    Tinnion, Jon and some bloke..

We won't spend money on players so we are recruiting from lower leagues with some potential prospects and letting experienced Pros with a value to the team leave the club.

You reap what you sow in this league, I get the need to be prudent, but we are cutting our financial nose off to spite our championship face.

Like Latham a lot but he won’t accept any criticism whatsoever of Lansdown, however valid.

Times have moved on & SL needs to sell up.

I agree latham does speak sense but I'm not sure why people keep defending the Lansdowns I'm almost bored of hearing we need to stick with it or we need a marquee signing  blah blah actually it's gone past tiresome and we've gone back to the LJ days and saying manning needs a experienced number 2 it's constant history repeat. They haven't learnt and they never will.

Same here, I do like Latham but not sure I agree that we would be at Rovers level with a ramshackle ground without SL and family.

Said it before, his biggest mistake is not employing the best people he can in key roles at the club but it does seem he doesn't really want those kind of people involved..

  8. More about this Clarke Osborne, who is involved at Torquay and as I have said, closed down many stadiums for housing.

On A swindon Motor sports website, he lists this as his bio

    https://swindonmotorsports.co.uk/team-%26-partners

    Quote

Clarke is Chairman of Gaming International the owners of the Swindon Stadium at Abbeymeads. Not known by many, Clarke has a long history in Speedway and motorsport, including the creation and operation of the most successful Speedway venue of the modern era in Bristol.

Clarke has been actively involved in the promotion of speedway in Oxford. Poole, Swindon, Reading, White City and Wembley. He has completed in Hot Rod racing, Karting and Stage Rallying.

Now excuse me, and I have been involved in the sport of speedway for over 20 years, but Bristol?

I fear the worse for Torquay..

I think he loves him because of the involvement Manning allows Tinnion to have.

A manager like Pearson would never allow it.

    There's a reason for that.

  10. I find him very difficult to watch/listen too, have done from his first time here.

I don't like his football, I don't like the way he discribes the game and his tactics.

I don't like the fact he will not change in game tactics during a match, I don't think he can ever change from his so called perfect game plan.

I  don't feel great about this and all of the above but I have a feeling of impending doom about City at this moment of time.

  11. One of the major faults of Manning is he has come and tried to change the team straight away with both positions and style.

A decent manager/head coach would look at what he has and would try to implement he's ideas over time, gradually changing the ethos and tactics over a time scale.
