  1. Yep thats very true, i was looking more at the last few games (as a whole) with a suggestion to improve the team going forward
  2. I dont have an issue with Martin coming on to try and change tactics in a game, its not like we have any attacking midfielders (except injured Benayrous) or wingers that can effect the game in a different way. Hes good with his back to the goal and shielding off players with his strength, bringing others into the game - what i dont get is the fascination of having 4 strikers on the pitch, and lugging aimless high balls towards him, bypassing the midfield and losing any attacking impetus we might have. Like others have said, there always has to be one Scape Goat at the club............
  3. Wing backs are not working, and our defensive issues as quite evident to see (that stat on Sky Sports last night was shocking) NP needs to move away from 352 and go for a variation of Liverpool 433 or 4312 so we can start controlling middle of the pitch with James, Scott and Williams. The full backs can still offer attacking width but having 3 in the middle means someone can shield back 4 and help bring out ball from defence, this formation will also give Naismith more passing options from the back
  4. Some valid points from the OP regarding wing backs, we dont have any recognised wingers (this is another issue which needs addressing as we have no backup plan or ability to try something different when chasing a game) so NP perseveres with this system/formation. Yet JD and Sykes (especially in recent games) do not have the ability to get past a man and put a successful ball into the box, and we have this terrible defensive record which speaks volumes. We have tried changing players and literally gone through every possible scenario but still something isn't right. I cannot fathom why NP is so reluctant to try something else like 433, or 4312 as im sure a midfield 3 of James, Willams and Scott would really start to dominate games for us and allow us to play some nice attractive football on the ground which AGAIN suits our smaller nippy strikers.
  5. If Klose is fit then id like to see him come in for Tanner and keep Pring left hand side of 3 - the physical presence of Ndaiye and McBurnie worries me against the 3 from Saturday. Other than that i dont see many changes from Saturday, NP tends to keep same team after a good performance/result
  6. Tanner, Vyner and Pring as our defence….. it really is Halloween, scary times! Surely our only form of defence is attack today!!! Could have easily put King in defence for some experience, or even Williams
  7. I’d happily see Scott in Weimanns position once James is back and can partner Williams Weimann is no different to any other player and needs to be changed to freshen things up
  8. Cant see Weimann being dropped, especially considering Pearson's comment on presser yesterday - "he needs to play through his rough patch"
  9. Not a chance Kalas will be staying - he won’t take a pay cut knowing he can get the same (if not more) money elsewhere.
  10. Its hard to point why its gone wrong for Juve past 3-4 years - constant changing at boardroom/management level - insistence of playing BBC (Bonucci, Barzaghli and Chiellini) has meant other good young defenders like Rugani & Romero were never given the chance - trying to get team playing 'attractive football' with Pirlo and Sarri as managers, but then not really signing the players to suit the system they wanted - Overall the signings over the past 3-4 years have been generally poor, Vlahovic is different from that thou and can see him flourishing once Chiesa and Di Maria are either side of him (and not Kean & Kostic like last night) Like you said the league can realistically be won now by 5-6 teams and there are no easy games anymore. If i had to put money on anyone this year its hard to look past Milan again as they can grind out results better than other teams
  11. Thing is people will see this video and think Juve were robbed (Candreva by corner flag was playing Bonucci onside) but in reality Juve were poor again last night and barely deserved a draw against Salernitana - it pains me watching Juve at the moment, thank god my main passion are playing the best footy iv seen in years at the Gate!!!
  12. I still avidly follow Juventus, a passion started by this very programme and being seduced by the 'Bianconeri' colours - I remember the magical 3 of Ravenelli, Vialli and a very young Del Piero. Saturday mornings was waiting for James to sit at a cafe, and read through the papers telling us who each club was going to buy (how times have changed) I was very much on my own in a crowded pub (when Juventus played Man U in the Champs League semi final) and having to restrain myself when Inzaghi scored twice early on to put "us" 2-0 up - then it all fell apart and having numerous idiots trying to start on me when Utd finally scored 3rd goal. My partner secretly got us tickets so i could watch Juventus away at Fiorentina 3 years ago (we were doing 4 day trip in Italy visiting Florance and Rome), but 2 weeks before the changed the date due to champ league and we couldnt make it. Having 2 young kids and being City Season ticket holder means we dont have the time for such luxuries at the moment, but id love to try again. Italian football seems to be getting more competitive again, and as such the quality is coming back meaning they are a bigger force in europe again. As for Juve, currently Allegri is back for his second stint but its not quite working at the moment and hes under alot of pressure, things could be different if he had Chiesa, Pogba, Di Maria and Locatelli available but it could be too late as performances have been dire.
  13. What Pearson/Gregor/Gould says means nothing untill its all over. No manager will publicly come out saying someone can leave (unless they want them to) as clubs will make lower offers - hence the "£30 million" remark made by Pearson the other day was simply just him playing hardball with any potential suitors. Semenyo like any player, will have a value the club will see as "acceptable" and if this is met by a club then he will be sold. Multi million pounds deals are done right up to the last hour, and i have no doubt City will be prepared for every eventuality
  14. I tweeted Gregor last night asking for this very question to be asked - its annoyed me for some time that all everyone cares about is HNM, whereas to me getting Dasilva tied down to a new contract is imperative to any future success we may have.
  15. I don’t think there’s any doubting his technical ability, my “issue” (whether his fault or not) is that im still not sure what his best position is. He has the attributes for a ‘Box to Box’ type player with his energy and pressing, but with this I think he needs to improve on the attacking side with more goal contributions.
  16. Any stream links? Asking for a friend (my dad funnily enough ?)
  17. This is a non story. Cam missed lots of pre season due to a niggly injury, and now has to work his way back to full fitness and get himself back in the team, There were a couple of enquiries for Cam over the summer, but these were rebuffed by City - NP told Pring how important he would be this year (competing with one of our better performers/players) and he would get plenty of game time due to the 5 sub ruling and fitness needed at LWB/RWB positions.
  18. Pearson still believes the best way to save a game when behind is to make sure every attacker is on the field, and hope a long ball sticks upfront for something lucky to happen. We then bypass the midfield because they have all been replaced by strikers
  19. Another performance where like before, I come away still wondering how to get the best out of HNM - obviously a good technical player, but he dosnt tackle like Williams, he dosnt possess the passing/dribbling ability of Scott, and can’t shield the back 4 like James……. So what can he do? Maybe in a 433 we can afford to give him more freedom to use his energy effectively as a ‘box to box’ player, but Pearson only appears to have Plan A and I don’t think he’ll be drastically changing formations just because of 2 games
  20. Looking for some inspiration for this years Dream Team name, any suggestions?
  21. I did see Weimann was 35/1 to be top goalscorer, which i thought was generous considering last years total
  22. I know we are in discussions for one player who is OOC next summer and been told, "talks going well"
  23. Why would HNM sign a contract just so the club who currently employ him get a fee, and thus stop his own chances of a decent sign on fee at another club if he decides to leave - would you do the same for your employer??
