Just to correct you: The club WAS declared bankrupt - the players reluctantly agreed a deal to save the newly formed BCFC82

Bcfc 1982were formed and the creditors agreed 20 in the £. Theŕe was no bankruptcy. The old company were later wound up.

The former Bristol Rugby Club chairman effectively did.

And received a life presidency for services to BRFC for his troubles, along with the £2m owed to him and, I have it on good advice tha a plot of land in Filton, also changed hands with AH and the rugby directors receiving that land, to agree the original deal.

We named a squad of 31 players at start of the season and if we look at it realistically, we can exclude the following:

    2 x GKs

Sam Pearson - been training all season with u23s so why he was given one in the first place is beyond me

Ryley Towler - who had agreed a loan to Salford but held back due to injuries, so not seen as a starter

    Benarous - out until Xmas

Owers, Bell, Idenhen,  Kadji who again are unlikely to feature

    in addition we have the following;

    kalas/Semenyo/James - Injured

Williams - who cannot do midweek games & we have lots of them

Massengo - who doesn’t want to be here

Realistically, we have a core of 20 people on a good day that you would realistically feel confident about starting games for us as you will always have injuries and god help us if we get suspensions.  I get we have to operate with a smaller squad but we are too light.  I hope that on3 of the younger ones that I’ve stated are unlikely to feature prove me wrong and have a breakthrough season.

I do not profess to understand FFP but are we that strapped that we cannot add a free agent or a loan signing to a beleaguered squad? I assume not as surely we would have but what a sorry state of affairs.   I was concerned like lots about squad depth but then we get Lansdown say he’s not worried by FFP & contradicted by Gould literally the next day.   Such a frustration when you think of the millions squandered!

I have a feeling we have players lined up should somone move on, or we receive some sell on money. If not, we'll have a back up plan as make do until Jan.

It seems to me that the mess is largely being cleared up and IMO that is what Nigel (and Gould) were brought in to do. It’s no coincidence that MA conveniently moved on soon after.

Financially as other have said the MA/LJ era got us into that mess. Ironically really after failing to back Cotts. Forget the sound bites’Premier League in 3 years’ because as we now see that is not likely nor feasible. Gould came in to steady the financial ship rather than plan for a cruise into the Premier League and it seems that he is doing that. If we take a points deduction then it will be part of the ‘steadying strategy’ where a limited hit could be manageable.

Nigel has probably come in with the same ‘ship steadying’ philosophy along with several targets and I doubt that promotion is high on the list. His job involves getting rid of the deadwood which is progressing nicely. At the same time reducing the wage bill, now down to under £20m pa so also progressing nicely. Having shipped out the deadwood then it’s to then find bargains (ie Sykes, Naismith, Wilson and hopefully Bajic) and to improve the Pathway from Academy to first team. Not going bad either on that front at all.

With all this the key ingredient is not promotion but maintaining Championship status and if that is seriously threatened then no doubt plan B is Nigel gets the bullet. If we avoid relegation and achieve the rest then what do we have ? We have a Championship club just possibly moving towards a profit making situation in a couple of years (the real 3 year plan) and a much more attractive prospect for investment or takeover.

Being a similar age to SL I know thoughts turn to legacy. SL has probably realised Premier League football is unlikely to be his legacy now and let’s face it even if we did make it then relegation and another restructuring would probably follow 12 months later and that involves several more years commitment. Instead his legacy will more likely be a fairly strong business model with excellent stadium, training ground and Academy. That is where I believe we are at. Not so much a mess as preparing for the next owners to pick up the baton in the next couple of years.

This is far too sensible a post for this site, can it be removed please.

As always the council didnt reject it. I believe that they have never had a planning request turned down.

However they have never had the funds to actually go ahead with any of the plans that have been approved.

Correct, no application for Severnside, Hengrove, or Carsons green. Permission grated at the rugby ground after nobbling the committee. Permission granted for UWE after they proved it was needed, by inflating the attendance at Wembley, where grandparents, little children friends and their pets were al cajolled into pretending they were regulars.

Can’t say I’ve noticed. The  PA system over there is crystal clear.

There is a bloke several rows above me who yells ‘get it in the mixer’ every time City attack……he’s obviously enjoying himself.

    That's Bob the builder.?

I gave up on that. Got a reply from RG who essentially said it’ll be too expensive to sort out. I’ve moved stands now and the PA system in the Lansdown is perfectly fine.

I've noticed a loud whining sound in the Lansdown recently.?

Then why make such a fuss about it? You seem to be criticising the SC&T for giving you the option to not comment on something that you didn't want to comment on in the first place.

Not making a fuss, just using a format available to me to express an opinion. Just as you have. If you don't like it, don't make a fuss about it.

You're literally commenting on a thread where the SC&T asks for fans views, which are being gathered so that they can be presented as a challenge to the Club.

You can skip questions that you have no interest in or don't care about. If others do that then those questions show up as ignored and the SC&T will see that. So it's all good feedback.

Did you then read the question? Maybe that could have been your first option?

As for being wrong. No, I'm not wrong. The company that owns the contracts and EFL share that relate to the men's team also owns all of the shares in the company that owns the contracts and share (or equivalent) in the women's team. This means it is a 100% subsidiary and is part of the wider football club Group. The women's team is legally a part of the men's team.

One option is to read words and understand them.

With respect you are incorrect. I understand your feelings but you misunderstand what "Bristol City Football Club" is. It's not just the men's first XI. The SC&T represents all fans, of all parts of the Club, and publishes one survey to cover all of it.

As for FFP, the entity that reports for that purpose is Bristol City Holdings Limited, that company owns Bristol City Football Club Limited, and that entity owns Bristol City Women's Football Club Limited, so the women's team is ultimately included.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Are you telling me that the wages of players, coaches, physio's, and all related expenses related to the womens team, along with the income from games, is included in the calculations relating to ffp and submitted to the football league? ? I think you are wrong and, their finances are seperate from the mens team, even if they have a parent company.

I started supporting my team in 1966 and it's only in recent times that the club have incorporated a womens team. Probably to try and increase the customer base as a whole. The previous associated team was abandonned. So forgive me if I personally don't recognise them as my team.

As for representative of all supporters by the SC&T, it plainly is not. Otherwise there wouldn't be those questioning the survey. I'm certain it doesn't represent the whole views of our supporter base, merely those that choose to be a part of it..

The women's team is literally owned by the men's team. It is part of the fabric and make-up of the same Club. I don't watch their games, or care who they sign, but I support their inclusion within the wider Club. They have fans that wear the club's badge, and fans that care deeply about the Club.

As you say, you were allowed to omit or avoid answering those sections. It took you a few second to skip them, just as it took me. I skipped it and moved on with life.

If you want to exclude the women's team from discussions then, as you say in your post, you support Bristol City Men's Football Team, you don't support Bristol City Football Club.

With respect, I disagree. When I attend Ashton Gate I go to support Bristol City, or if  someone asks what team I support I say Bristol City, the team and things that benefit the team, like the pathway to the team. Anything else is part of the overall umbrella, they are seperate from my team and I'm sure they're not included in the ffp football league rules.

  11. This might not be popular but I support Bristol City Football Club. I have absolutely no interest in womens football. The womens team is an addition and I don't as such recognise their association to my team, I only support one team. It holds no interest for me, I have nothing against womens sport but I don't want to see it. Fortunately I was allowed to omit comments on it. Do we have a darts team, skittles team, fishing team, quiz team? If we do, then why not include these in the survey. Add the under 23's and academy teams as well, if this is about inclusivity, which it seems to be.

Hilda tells me someone has created a Muriel of Rovers' "greats" on the outside wall of the East Stand lavatories.

Mr Al-Quidi is naturally at the forefront but unfortunately the artist ran out of paint so his flies are left undone.

I take it, he's been exposed and probably needs a pot to piss in.

  13. Help required for a fading memory. Can anyone recall a testimonial match where Bobby Charlton made a guest appearance. I believe it was late 70's or early 80's. When he was on the pitch, he ran the show, even though he'd been retired quite a while. It wasn't the 66 WC squad testimonial of the early 70's.

    Thanks in advance.

  14. I'm speaking from memory here regarding the Atyeo stand but, we had advisors within the club who seemed scared of upsetting the relationship that the club had with the planning department, I'd had meetings with them re boxes in the Dolman. As a result of that fear, the Atyeo stand was not built to it's possible height, or depth in proximity to the houses while still meeting planning guidance. So in current planning laws it could be rebuilt mirroring the South Stand.

As far as the Dolman is concerned, it also could be built higher and closer to the existing flats. There is a space of nearly 4mts to the rear which could be built with an overhanging rake. This would allow emergency vehicles access along the rear of the stand, something required by law, as there's no access to parts of the ground from all sides.

The lower Dolman is a hotchpotch of gangways, so a completely new stand would improve that and have a capacity increased to about 10k.

So between those two increases we'd possibly add another 5k seats. Not needed currently but, I'm of the belief and more positive in my thoughts that, we could be a more successful club, with a much larger support base and we must aim higher. There's absolutely no reason why we couldn't compete with the majority of premiership clubs. Why think otherwise?
