  1. Or 1 win in 5 wasn’t it? depends how you look at it really
  2. It’s literally one persons opinion?
  3. I feel like had City not performed tonight, or worse lost then we’d be hearing how we’ve nothing to play for and Blackburn are fighting for survival and it’s understandable to be off the pace for a nothing game. Well, quite the opposite. We’ve pressed them high and well and forced them into mistakes. As bad as they’ve been, some of that has been our pressure. Would have been different if we’d sat off and given them time like Swansea game. I feel like I need to caveat this and own the fact I haven’t been a Manning fan, but this has been very good again and I’d happily watch this all next season if this is what he can deliver. Shame we didn’t see Mebude, don’t think we needed to bring King on to be honest.
  4. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, there’s a player in there I’m sure of it… Granted Rovers are sh*t
  5. Remember more recently Wigan won the FA Cup, beating Man City of all teams and then relegated a few days later.
  6. When I heard it the other day I was surprised it was so low, but it wasn’t through any lack of effort or anything on his part. I’m not gonna chastise the club through hindsight, but similarly he didn’t do anything to deserve being booed as far as I recall, unless it was meant ironically or jokingly.
  7. Never mind… seen there’s another thread on last night!
  8. Why we booing Szmodics Decent start, crowd sounds good in fairness to them.
  9. Definitely used to hear the one about wanting to be something rather than a “taff” too. It was quite bad that Bradford 6-0 away night too (only time I’ve been to Bradford away) but also saw a couple of locals dishing it out too, away from the football.
  10. Because VAR cant give yellows, although I agree they should be able to do this
  11. The alternative take on that is that over 6 games we'd have only drifted 1 point closer to relegation. We were a long way from a relegation battle. What's annoying is we should have beat QPR and Sheff Wed (on paper) and probably not Leicester in which case we'd have had the points earlier and definitely wouldn't have been a discussion
  12. As @phantom said, after a fallout with the camp / Holland. I'd still give benefit of the doubt to GS and his team on who was in the wrong there, as an outsider looking in. GS has generally been pretty good at dealing with ill discipline - he clearly had Greenwood's card marked with the way him and Foden were treated after the Iceland incident.
  13. Theoretical danger maybe, we were never going to lose every remaining game - even Rotherham haven't done that. Only 3 teams were less than 4 points off us, "most" were 6 points or more away. Many have played each other.
  14. Utterly embarrasing from White. I don't know what it is about him but he seems really unlikable. As much as I think on ability he should be in the England team, I'm giving Southgate the benefit of the doubt on some his exclusion.
  15. I cant see us getting 13 more points, let alone making up a 13 point difference on 6th - although I know you weren't seriously suggesting it was possible. Realistically we were never in danger of relegation, though I could understand why some people were concerned about where we might pick up points - it's just there's too many teams below us to make up the difference anyway. If you took away the 6 points against Plymouth and Leicester we'd still be 14th. Personally, would have taken mid table at the start of the season, think we all agree it's the nature of what's happened this season that's bothered everyone - and the messaging from the people in charge. Lets see what Liam can do over the summer with plenty of time "on the grass" and and interesting transfer window

Also adds to your point you've been making about worrying about the other team rather than putting our mark on the game. He didn't make an attacking change to give them something to think about, he made a change that worried about the opposition's strengths. Absolutely pointless in a dead rubber that realistically would have made little difference between drawing 0-0 and losing 1-0.
  17. I can’t either but judging by replies I assume it is… apologies if I’m wrong of course!
  18. 100% penalty, again, asking for trouble if you go to ground like that in the box and nowhere near the ball. He’s always been a liability
  19. Why is that ridiculous? That’s offside, has been for a long time it’s literally interfering with the keeper
  20. I think you’re confusing what most mean by a good performance. It doesn’t need to be “flashy”. As I said above, 1-0 wins all season would do me fine, but if that’s where you’ve had 40% possession and your keepers got man of the match for making 7 saves then you’ve probably rode your luck rather than a good performance. Can be ok as a one off, but Do that every week and you probably won’t be winning the game very often. Don’t even need to look back far for an example. Beating Leicester 1-0 was a good performance, beating Swansea 1-0 was not.
  21. I’ve had a chance to re watch it a few times now on twitter and I’m not sure either way. My main thought is poor defending and you’re asking for trouble doing that. Silva’s looking for it too. I agree VAR will never be able to confirm beyond doubt if any contact is “enough”. I agree it’s not the worst decision I’ve seen, probably not even the worst this weekend.
  22. I’d usually say results over performances. I want us to win, I don’t care how and if get lots of 1-0s and 0-0s and get promoted that’s enough for me. Lets not forget, as fans we’ll celebrate a win however it comes - the main argument would be if you’re playing sh*t then eventually it’s going to catch up with you and bad performances don’t often lead to lots of good results. There is very little to be gained from scraping a couple of swansea style wins and yesterdays draws. This is Mannings chance to impose a style and many would forgo results to see more of what we’ve seen shades of. Im still of the belief that we’ve won the games we have inspite of him not because of him - Leicester aside though as he did impact that game with subs and changes to style. we still haven’t gone and dominated against a team around or below us either.
  23. That’s with added context that they’ve been relegated after several years in the Prem (and winning it). It would be like us going down and being dead awful to watch even if we had success. Promotion is the bare minimum expectation for them. If we scraped promotion from this league being boring it would be completely different.
  24. But VAR does need to consider that to be fair, because contact doesn’t equal foul - in the same way that the Brighton defender slightly touching the ball doesn’t mean good tackle

Mehmeti looked very good at L1 level though so not really a stick to beat him with
