  1. I would vote for Zak if the poll was now, The run in will be interesting with one of the other contenders out (Rob A) and others like James/Scott also playing well in this turn around of form. Naismith would/could become a strong contender if he returns soon to the midfield role he was excelling at before injury. Sykes and Pring also high up on the list for me. But my money is on Zak to continue his form and to be POTY, I was another naysayer, but could not be more happy for him and the club.
  2. if ever there was bunga-bunga involved, this transfer stunk of it....was it £400k or something equally mad?
  3. After last nights results, we currently have the best form outside of the top 3 teams. "If" we win tonight, then we would have the joint best form with Burnley (4 wins and a draw)... Is there a chink of light gleaming at us far away up the table in sixth spot (currently occupied by the very out-of-form Watford).... I must stop sniffing the optimism gas....
  4. Top bloke, proper city fan and a very bright boy to boot. What is not to like? I think all true fans will miss him loads...
  5. No live feeds at all, and nothing on bet365
  6. another "good un" boys... Thought Neils lad spoke really well... and fair play to Ian having to gaffer it at short notice. It was an absolute game of two halves, city showing us both side of their play, utter rubbish and then much, much better... I also feel Max has to take dome of the blame for the goal, he put Atkinson in a situation he did not have to and the pass was dodgy with a over hit bouncing ball.
  7. Munro was decent for our level at the time. he did have a night to forget when he was playing I think at CB against Stan Colleymore for Forest. young Stanley tore Munro and us apart that night. I think he got a hat-trick and left poor old Munro on his backside on the half-way line late on to run on and get his 3rd
  8. I think Dennis Smith brought in Brian Mitchell (or am I getting mixed up), either way, it sent a shiver down my spine remembering it all. I was one of the sad souls still turning up and witnessed the booing of Russell Osman when he scored, it was all around the ground! and shocked him. I cannot remember if I joined in (I dont recall doing so!), but it was some of the worst football I had every seen....
  9. Both Bentley and Max have flaws, neither are going to help us get into the top 6, both okay in a championship team that lacks any ambition.
  10. I think Wells will be offered a reduced contract similar to the one Andy King has now (player with coaching responsibility), seeing his positive attitude over the last year and how he has helped the youngsters (I did misjudge him based on his "grumpy look" on the field of play in the past, but now realise what he has brought to the wider team and behind the scenes. Kallas is a tricky one, I think we would mostly like to keep him (again on a reduced fee) and think he is quite settled here in Brizzle), but I suspect the one negative fly in the ointment maybe NP who I think is not "all in" on our Czech warrior... and would rather change him for a more old fashioned tall stopper...
  11. Judging him just on the 89/90 season (my favorite season and the first one I was able to see most of the games), he was the Matty James of the day. Not overly flash, but solid and reliable and knew what his job was. A big part of us going up that year, but as many have said, not really rated by the majority of our fans. he did goon to show he was well worth his place. Listening to the excellent podcast with Headhunter, you can perhaps see why, as he was just professional, but not a badge kisser.
  12. That fan noise is as bad as the tinned laughing on 1970’s sitcoms …. Probably 10% real fans, 15% fans hired by organizers and they rest of the noise generated by computer and pumped out on the speakers… what a farce
  13. Yep, I think that's the plan. I have a little inside knowledge on one point which is Semenyo is likely to go Jan (to allow investment elsewhere in the squad). I am not ITK with anything else, but believe Bentley and Kalas will also leave if a club can be found for them, to lower wage bill as much as to recoup any transfer fee's (that will be a minimal recovery at best). Bajic is highly rated by the top brass at the club and with Max doing all right, I dont think it will weaken us too much. Kalas will be a loss but is on HUGE wages (I think all three are liked by NP and RG - but its all about the money and not weakening the team too much). Semenyo is just the most saleable asset we have. we had decent offers in the summer for him and not too much on the others including Scott.
  14. He will be a massive loss if he goes, a very good operator, loves our club and as others have said, will be hard to replace. I fear he is a shoe-in for the cricket role and probably just working out the details of the contracts - here and there....
  15. wow - thanks for posting and so many happy memories of the late 70's early 80's when i was a lad have come flooding back to me! I had a odd up bring as a kid being born into the Plymouth brethren (odd christian church/cult that was big in Bristol), so grow up with no TV, Radio, trips to cinema, basically lots of going to church and not too much fun........ but that did not stop us supporting City (although we were not allowed to go to games!!) playing loads of footy after church in the car park and being allowed games like the mighty Subbuteo...... I remember playing in leagues with other kids in the church and playing hours on my own (as my older brother gave up, due to me being better then him at it!!) the odd thing I found is often I would play two teams against each other and always start the game with a favorite (in those days it was Rochdale, Arsenal, City and West Germany - don't ask me why other then the city!). but somehow occasionally the team I wanted to win lost and I used to get slightly unhappy (the same feeling I had last week when we lost to Norwich!) even though I was playing against myself...... weird but true! The Half man half biscuit song sums up my childhood!! at least the worst that happened in subbuteo was a uneven playing surface (we glued our pitch to a thick piece of wood my dad got). I still have scaletrix up in the attic that never really worked, back then and certainly not now..........
  16. Great memory on you Mr Marvels! if only mine was so good, but the cider has done for that..... and in Chris K's defense, we have probably all done some "dumb a$$" stuff in our younger days that we all now regret.... If only my "red mist" tackles were the only misdemeanors to forget in my case!
  17. I am going to the British Super bike event on Sunday, its not called off and here is their very sensible message, as you can see the guidance of the government was not "cancel all events" The FA are numb-ties, but I think most of us knew that already... even my sons football is off thanks to the FA's "advice".... a perfect way to make republicans of the next generation.... All of us at MotorSport Vision (MSV) were deeply saddened to learn that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday. Following the Cabinet Office guidance issued during the morning, events will take place as planned at MSV circuits this weekend (10/11 September). That includes the British GT Championship meeting at Brands Hatch and the Bennetts British Superbike Championship round at Snetterton. As a mark of respect, and to recognise Queen Elizabeth's life and service, all race meetings at MSV circuits this weekend will pause for a two-minute silence. The MSV Team
  18. utter madness to cancel, this sort of thing will make me a republican, oh hang on a minute I was anyway, but this confirms it.....
  19. We care if we end up 3rd in the table with Burnley in the top two, but facing a massive points deduction! then it will matter..... I know that is a lot of "ifs" but it could happen...
  20. I think the £19k pw at Chelski is accurate (as it was made public), I think he was on slightly less here (but not much less) and will I am sure had a tidy signing on fee as well. So he is set for life if he manages his money carefully. I for one don't think he has ever conned anyone, I think he tried his best here, its just his style of football and the type of player he is needs to be in a very dominate top team (like a Norwich in the Championship). If he is needed to "put a shift in" and do everything then you have problems.
  21. After listening to the FBC podcast, I will never be able to watch HNM without thinking of Neil Kilkenny……. The similarities in playing style are striking…. No end product, sideways and backwards passing, HNM has more energy, but he also does totally pointless pirouettes and stupid back heels often to no one… Has the odd brilliant game, then it all reverts to type… could still make it right to the top if he cuts out the stuff done for his YouTube / agents video compilation
  22. love your reports Ole, when can we hear your "filth" on OSIB, I for one miss you on it.... Stanley is getting far too easy a ride now... I also think it was Wilson and not Tanner who turned the ball goal-wards for the first, from the corner. Wilson was shaky in the first half, but got better and its hard to argue with an assist (probably more of his hand then thigh!) and a well taken goal. I am nit picking, of course! and I am not normally a pedant.........
  23. And not wishing to rub it in, but I work in High Wycombe and my boss has kindly agreed to be the main match sponsor! So I am in the posh seats with the prawn sandwich brigade (if Wycombe have such a following....) In the posh end along with 4 of my City supporting family and 16 other Wycombe supporting colleagues.... should be lively.... We also get to choose the MOM, are we allowed to go with a city player, when away (I am gonna give it ago!!)
