Think it would be much better if they played before the match. It would create a good pre-match atmosphere and many people would be around to enjoy it. After the match many people have to get away and particularly if they have already delayed their departure to watch the team’s end of season lap of honour.

Other than the mistake of returning the ball to the wrong side after she stopped play I thought she did very well. It was refreshing to see her book two Huddersfield players early in the match for cynical fouls. Many referees let players get away with it early on but then book players for identical fouls later in the game. And I thought it was a definite penalty as did thousands of others who instinctively shouted “HANDBALL!!!” when Pring’s cross was blocked by the defenders arms. As to Huddersfield complaining about the additional 10 minutes they only have themselves to blame. During the minimum five minutes added time there were two injuries and a substitution so credit to the referee for adding additional time and continuing into the eighth minute when the penalty was awarded. The extra two minutes only came about as a result of Huddersfield complaining and delaying the spot kick resulting in another two Huddersfield players being booked. All in all one of the better refereeing performances I have seen at Ashton Gate.

No, that can’t be right. We sacked Pearson and brought in Manning because Pearson was underperforming and we have a “top six side”. Remember we were told that Manning was appointed because we are going for promotion this season. Joking aside, even if we miraculously avoid relegation this year I think we’re an odds on certainty to go down next season with Manning in charge. Unfortunately the amateurs in charge of our football club will be reluctant to acknowledge their mistakes until it’s too late.

Remember going up to see City at QPR in the 1970s. QPR got a penalty which Stan Bowles missed, but he then scored from the resultant corner. By the board’s own publicly announced criteria Manning is failing yet unlike his predecessor he is being given a free pass.

There is no way that this run of results would’ve been acceptable under Nigel Pearson. After all we are told we have a squad which should be in the top six and we are currently 12th and falling. Only nine points above the relegation places with two defeats in succession against bottom three sides. At this rate even if we avoid relegation this season I can see us being in a relegation battle next season, particularly if we lose the experience of James and Williams in midfield. It seems that there is one rule for NP and the another rule for the replacement.

Typical City. Get everyone excited with a couple of good results and then revert to type.

I am abroad three or four months of the year and therefore I am unable to go to a lot of matches. However I always buy a season ticket (in the south stand). This does not make economic sense and it would be cheaper for me to pay on a match by match basis for the games that I can actually attend. However, by buying the season-ticket I feel I am supporting the club financially (in a very small way) and also spiritually. Yes, my seat is empty for many matches but surely it is better for the club to have sold the season ticket. We rarely reach our 27,000 capacity so it is not as if me buying a season ticket is preventing others from going to the match.

Showing my age, but my favourite has to be “i’m a knock kneed chicken and a bowlegged hen. Ain’t been so happy since I don’t know when. Walk with a wiggle and a wiggle and a squawk doing the East End walk. La la la la la la la la etc (Whilst bouncing up and down). Subsequently found out it’s based on a song called “The Tennessee Wig Walk” from 1953. Worth a Google.

Thought it was “box entry”. Never heard such rubbish from a football manager. He seemed to be trying to convince us that we had done well because we had more box entries than the other team, even though we had lost.

Not bizarre at all. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to wonder why Ashton has been able to succeed at Ipswich when he was unable to achieve similar success here. To use your example, if we released a player or sacked an employee who then went on to achieve great things I think it would be unrealistic not to recognise this.

Yes, I appreciate that Ashton spent a lot of money but presumably the players he signed were wanted by whoever was the manager at the time.
